Review: Good Afternoon My name is [redacted] a Family Advocate employed by the mental health Association of New York I am contacting you on behalf of My Client [redacted] who has not been able to move into an apartment or have her money refunded back to her due to unlawful practices. [redacted] gave [redacted] Realtor from Wonders home Realty located at[redacted] paid [redacted] During the Month of May * money orders in the amount of $525 issued by The Human Resource Administration towards her first Month rent, security, and Brokers fee. [redacted] stated that he wanted proof that the money was given to him and refused to return her money. I contacted the Human resource Administration and was told by [redacted] HRA representative that [redacted] Cashed one of the checks. [redacted] has the Documentation to prove everything stated in this email. I contacted [redacted] several times and left Numerous voice messages and he has not return my phone calls. I have visited his office and he claimed that he had been having difficulty contacting the landlord. I asked him to Provide me with the Land lords information and he said he did not know it by heart. I obtained the information from( HRA) the Landlord is Patmar Realty. [redacted] has yet to return the money and continues to delay the process. My Client has two children with Disabilities one of her children is age * and [redacted]. Currently she is staying with other people who are not her family and is on the verge of becoming homeless. [redacted]’s expected move in date was for June *, 2013 but was told that the apartment needed more work and was offered another apartment within the same building, that move in date was set for June **, 2013. My client is a victim of a scam and I need your assistance. Review: I went to a realty company on 7/**/13 looking for assistance with finding an apartment. I meet with a realtor named [redacted]. We showed me an apartment at a location on Park ave in the bronx. I gave him a deposit of $1250. I was told that I could have money back if I changed my mind about the apartment. When we got back to the office there was a gentleman there named [redacted] told me that I needed to give him $1250 for the first month rent by the following week so that he could send it to the management agency. While I was in the office he also gave me a generic copy of a lease that was not signed by the management company. He kept saying his main concern was families and he wanted to help me. I brought in the second money order of $1250 on 7/**/13. I was told that I could see the apartment on 7/**/13, which I did. When I went to see the apartment it was still being worked on. The majority of the work that was done was nice.The superintendent was telling my boyfriend that there are people in the building who sells drugs. At that moment I decided that I did not want to take the apartment. I contacted [redacted] by text message and told him that I no longer wanted the apartment and that he could rent it to someone else. He stated that its too late the landlord has already accepted me and I was unable to get my money back. I intended to for [redacted] to continue to help me but I just did not want that particular location. [redacted] continued to tell me how he is entitled to a commission even if I did not take the apartment. I told him that was not fair. I also mentioned that I just wanted my money with no problems. He kept telling me that he was going to take me to court and he would win. I called him on the phone to further speak about the situation but all he did was yell. He told me that I would have to wait until the money orders that I purchased where cleared in order to get a refund. The next day I called to check to see if the money orders were cleared. one was cleared on /**/13 and the other was cleared on 7/**/13. I contacted him by text and told him that they were cleared,. He responded and said that I needed to show him proof that I brought these money orders and that I was trying to scam him. He also mentioned that he was calling the cops. He also told me that if my payments were made in cash I could have gotten a refund today. At that point I decided to call the office and speak with the manager. I called and someone answered the phone asked my name and hung up. I called 4 more times from my cell phone and no one picked up the phone. My co-worker called from her phone and someone answer. I spoke with someone named [redacted] and he told me that I would not be able to speak to a manager because the manager [redacted] would be there after 6 pm. [redacted] was extremely rude and he didn't want to give the name of the manger. I texted [redacted] and told him that I was going to make a complaint and that I was calling the police. He never responded to my text.
