follow our process, and her claims against us are falseAccording to the agreement that she signed, we require a day written notice of all cancellations, and this notice must be sent through certified mail directly to our billing department in order to verify the identity of the member requesting the cancellation, and to get an official date stamp for the cancellation requestIt gives us a clear paper trail so we don't have to rely on verbal conversationsWe do not typically handle cancellations in the club, but in this one instance, I did cancel this membership to try to help her out
I do remember speaking with her, which is why the membership was cancelled, and at the time, I agreed to waive all of her past due late fees, which I didIn looking at this customer's payment history, she has not made one single payment on time, and her card was declined times in monthsWe normally don't assess late fees until a 3rd process attempt failure, so the fees that accumulated were a direct result of her failure to make the payments she agreed to make to be a member of this club
I did NOT agree to waive her final payment that was due or the maintenance fee which she agreed to pay when joining the gymSo, when her final payment and rate fee was drafted, and the card declined again, another late fee was assessed. Her final payment was $27, the rate guarantee fee was $31.42, and the late fee was $It took several attempts to process this payment, but eventually the billing company was able to collect
This member signed a written agreement that spells out very clearly the cost of being a member at the club, and she received an email as well as a printed card at the time she joined with the contact information for our billing companyShe failed to make any of the payments she agreed to make, and is now claiming she was deceived in order to try to force us to refund her the money she owed
We will always try to work with our members if they're having difficulties, as I tried to work with this customer by waiving over $in late fees and by by-passing our cancellation process to prevent any more fees from accruingHowever, we can't afford to stay in business by offering free memberships to people who sign up, then just refuse to pay for their membershipThere's only so much we can do
Had she honestly come to me personally about these additional charges, I would have most likely worked with her to reach a solution. However, I haven't received a single message or call, nor has she come to the club to speak with me personally since my return over a week agoThis complaint is the first I've heard of her grievance

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.   You are correct, I have reported this with my bank. The process of how the bank handles this is as follows... They issue a credit and then make contact with the merchant. IF the merchant issues a refund then the credit will be deducted from the account. The case with my bank has not been resolved as it is still listed as OPEN. I am personally not looking for extra monies, I have more than a sufficient salary. If they are unable to close the case without success with the merchant they will then make determination if the credit will be curtsey or taken back. Please call the Navy Federal Credit Union if you have any questions regarding their process. I am fine with this response if all ends are tied.
