My wife and I hired the owner of "World Tile Imports", [redacted], as a general contractor and it turned out one of my biggest mistakes and very frustrating experience. He did not provide a contract, he missed all deadlines that we agreed upon, it took long time and endless calls and reminders just to get him to deliver the materials that I purchased from "World Tile Imports". He never provided receipts for any of the materials that I purchased despite of my endless request. However, we asked all the money up front. He damaged my new appliance that I had bought but never admitted it. Whenever he missed another deadline, he never provided any explanations, did not pick up the phone and got out of touch. 4 months later the work was not finished and I ended up firing him. After I fired him, he told all sub- contracts that I did not pay him and that was the reason he could not pay sub-contractors. The true is that I paid him more than 80% of total amount. The worst thing is that after I fired him, he went to [redacted] store (lighting fixtures store in East Hanover, NJ) and picked up the lighting fixtures on my behalf even though I paid for it and I never asked him to pick them up. He basically stole them. I am now considering legal actions against him.

Review: I, [redacted], hired the owner of "World Tile Imports", [redacted] (hereby "General Contractor"), as a general contractor to perform home improvement in the beginning of January 2015. General Contractor did not provide contract and I had to draft the contract by myself.

I purchased materials from World Tile Imports but was never provided receipts despite of multiple requests. While performing work at my home, General Contractor damage my personal property but refused to admit responsibility. General Contractor performed very poor quality work and had to redo the work multiple times. Due to extremely poor quality of work, absent of any receipts and multiple delays, I had no choice but to terminate the contract effective April 1. 2015.

On May 11 2015, [redacted] went to [redacted] Light, lighting fixture store located in East Hanover, NJ, and picked up the lighting fixtures that I had purchased earlier despite of the fact that I did not authorized [redacted] to do that. The receipt from [redacted] Lighting is under World Design Center name but the order was processed when [redacted] represented me a few months ago. I fully paid for all lighting fixtures.

I contacted [redacted] and asked him to return the lighting fixtures to me but [redacted] did not respond.Desired Settlement: I requested [redacted] to return the lighting fixtures that I purchased from [redacted] Lighting. The cost of the lighting fixture that [redacted] received instead of me is $176.40.

I did not authorized [redacted] to receive the lighting fixtures on my behalf. [redacted] should must return it to me.
