We entrust animal hospitals with the care of our petsOur family members, our friends that give us unconditional love and companionship, they depend on usThey trust us, and it is our responsibility to make sure that they are taken care ofSome people may consider animals "just pets"Well for those of you that feel that way, you may not understand where I am coming fromI have pets, and a third that passed away a year ago in the care of Horizon animal hospital after a week long stay, She was discharged after days, telling us that all of her blood levels were back to and that she was ready to go homeThey gave us hopeTold us that they couldn't believe how she had recovered so wellThe very next day we took her in because she could not go to the bathroom, and needed to be catheterizedThe veterinarian Dr *** tried to put the catheter in, and after minutes of hurting her, he went and got some lubrication to make it easier, but not until after the bleeding he started from trying to jam the catheter in for minutes and many yelps in pain had occurred Why he would not have used lubrication from the beginning is anyone's guessAnyway, they got her to go to the bathroom, through the catheter, and said we would have to come back and do this every day for maybe a weekWe where willing to do this of courseHowever, We did not get that chanceWe got her home, and she would not eat, drink, and kept throwing up vial after her visit I of course called, I spoke with the receptionist pat about our concerns, she with NO compassion AT ALL, basically blew it off, and told me just to call back the next dayAriel died that next morning basically choking on her own vomitWe where beside ourselvesAfter she passed, they told us to bring her lifeless body inI really wish I hadn't let the receptionist blow us off the day beforeBecause she may have lived had she seen the "doctor"Anyway, We dropped off her body, with a lot of tears and we were lostOf course very emotional and they asked us to go to the back door, and had us leave her in the back hall, LITERALLY next to the trashI kick myself, because I should have known then, to stop going thereUnfortunately, I did not Finally, there is our Golden Retriever MaddiShe had Surgery there on her leg with Doctor ***He told me that he had done the surgery many times, and that he had NEVER had any issues with the method that he was going to useWell, unlucky us, because she had to go back to have ANOTHER surgery to correct the fact that the band that he put in her leg didn't stay in place and was causing her severe pain in the jointShe could barely stand up! Another SEVERAL MONTHS of recovery, and more pain pillsFast forward now to a year laterShe went in the other day to be treated for a hot spotThe "doctors" aka veterinarians were too busy to see her, so they had the "assistant" look at her Give her a steroid injection, and some cream to put on the woundIt was yellow, and puss was coming out of the affected area and smelled really foulFast forward a couple of days, I called, and told them that Maddi was drinking tons of BOWLS of water and having trouble going to the bathroomSame thing that happened to Ariel, our German Shepard that had died year ago to the day, and that I was concernedAgain, was told that the "doctors" aka veterinarians were too busy to see her, and that the "assistant" Basically just a "warm body" could look at itNOT OKESPECIALLY given that it was the same symptoms that took the life of our other dog ArielYou would think, that after not effectively addressing the needs of Ariel, that they may find the compassion, and have some basic concern to maybe take this seriously, since they seemed to have failed to recognize the severity of a similar situation once before! Dr***, and Dr *** should have least pretended to be concerned and offered to return a phone callTo say that we are disappointed, is an understatementThe lack of compassion is inexcusable

I have been vetting with Horizon for several tears and I just want to say that DrJohn Shuler and his entire staff are some of the very best ! DrJohn is one of the smartest and compassionate Vets I have ever had for my petsOffice staff are very helpful, never a problemThis office was suggested to me by the breeder that also uses this office after my other Vet retiredMy dogs never bulk about going there ! Can't say enough good for Horizon !
