Review: I moved out of one of Dermot's properties in August 2014, and now, after nearly 9 months, I have not received my full security deposit. Initially they gave me a fraction of my deposit and told me that I owed them for cleaning a dirty refrigerator and repainting walls. My refrigerator was absolutely clean, so when I asked them about it, they emailed me a picture of a disgusting refrigerator that wasn't even the same model as mine. As for the paint, I had asked the superintendent well before I moved out if he could send me the name of the building's painter so that I could repaint before I left. He told me not to worry about it and that he would take care of that, but months later, he had no recollection of the conversation. Since I should have gotten the paint issue in writing, I agreed to split the $650 fee with the [redacted], [redacted], and she told me that I would receive the money in 3 weeks (in December; she didn't even email me back on the matter until October-November). After emailing and calling repeatedly in January about never having received the deposit, [redacted] finally emailed in February telling me that I needed to send her my social security number to process the money. It is now nearly May, and I still don't have the money, and my social security number is apparently just sitting unattended in Dermot's email system, since I was informed that [redacted] no longer works there. Aside from absurd incompetence with paying back deposit money, I frequently experienced issues in the apartment that were left unattended or in inadequate conditions: multiple flooding issues from the upstairs neighbor (who told me that Dermot had not properly fixed the issue in their 20 years of living there), a hole in the back of the sink that mice would repeatedly chew through (only "fixed" with a cheap foam adhesive), leaky dishwasher pipe that would flood my floor, and the laundry room was always filled with massive cockroaches and often locked indefinitely without any notice.Desired Settlement: I would like my entire security deposit paid back to me.
