6/14/17Dear [redacted],I am writing in regards to a complaint with the file ID of: [redacted]. Your letter was received on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017. The complaint in question was filed by a customer who came into my establishment on May 23rd, 2017 for hair color treatment. The client...
wanted a level 4/77 (dark color) on the underneath portion of her hair and highlights/low lights on the crown (top) of her head. During her appointment, l alternated brown and blonde foil type high and low lights. She stated she wanted all of her hair in foils and l did as was requested. I then did two blond foils to one 4/77 foil (ratio 2/1). I completed the service, and the client did not make mention of any displeasure during her May 23rd visit. Two days later, the client contacted me using my personal [redacted] page to ask for more blonde coloring to be put in place because she felt that it was not light enough. She was told to come in and it would be corrected for her free of charge. She then came in to my establishment on June 2nd, 2017. Instead of moving forward with her original request, the client asked instead have a more darker tone applied to her hair and requested further to include more blond coloring to what was already done. I used a 2N (black) which was asked for, and blonde lighter where she specified, I made sure to use a semi-permanent which has no ammonia so if the client felt was too dark for her it would fade on its own accord, She was informed during the process and while washing out the foils, that sometimes the color will bleed after washing it. Shewas also given suggestions of which shampoo and conditioners she could use with her newest hair coloring, which is done during most all client visits no matter the service. This particular client had a great deal of buildup in the hair and the suggestions were to help address this concern along with the coloring. The customer declined. Again, the customer left with no inclination of dislike towards the service provided at the time.Similar to the first time, she sent another [redacted] message a day after the service. This time she stated that she had noticed what looked like a gray coloring in her hair. She explained that she spoke with a retired hairdresser who informed her that the tint she was seeing would not wash out. I informed the client that when repeated hair coloring product is used, it can cause a build-up within the hair. I asked her what type of shampoo and conditioner treatment she was using because depending on the type it will not relieve the amount of buildup in the hair itself. The client told me she uses a product called [redacted]. This product is considered to be all natural which means it lacks the necessary components that get rid of product build up, but it instead adds a coating to the hair shaft that makes it harder for any type of color to fade naturally.l told her to use [redacted] shampoo or [redacted] dish soap. These products have agents in them can easily get rid of build up if used repeatedly, which the customer was also informed of. The client was also asked to come into the salon so that a treatment could be applied to help, and see if there was something that we could do to correct any issues.Unfortunately, the client did not agree to come into my establishment and instead sent a multitude of [redacted] messages once again to my private account complaining about the service provided. l attempted calling her since messages can be skewed when speaking ever at messaging service, but her number had been disconnected. For this reason, along with her refusal to return to the salon, she was not refunded with her payment. l blocked her from my personal [redacted] page (not business) because she began to send slanderous type harassment messages. This is not the first time that I have encountered this problem with this client. At my former place of business (I was an employee at the time), she had made same complaint against another colorist that I worked with. When she began coming into my own establishment she was seen by two different staff members on my team, and again complained about color issues done by them.I thank you for your time and consideration regarding the matter. l take great pride in the work that I do, and to have this happen after trying to help the client has become very unsettling. Please contact me at my business phone [redacted], if you have any further questionsSincerely,Maria M[redacted]Owner/Stylist
