I was given a gift certificate for a spa service at their location The certificate has an expiration/maturity date of December On the certificate it states "This certificate matures one (1) year from purchase date Maturity date listed above If used past the maturity date, a $dormancy fee will be assessed." When I called to schedule an appointment the owner said she is going to charge me a $fee per year that it was expired; therefore, she said the value of the certificate which was originally $will now be $after she takes a $fee off for the two years it expired I don't even understand why she has to charge a fee since the certificate was already paid for and it is not like it is costing her anything for it to be dormant but regardless I explained that the certificate does not state that the fee is per year and that it only says a $dormancy fee after maturity date but she said her policy is per year She suggested I check her website I said that her website is irrelevant because the certificate clearly states it is a $dormancy fee and says nothing about a fee per year She just kept insisting that I check her website I went on to explain that then this must be an error on the certificates and as a business owner she should be professional enough to admit to the mistake and honor what my certificate says She continued to obnoxiously say "check my website" and just kept repeating that over and over Now that this dispute has occurred my $gift certificate might as well go in the garbage because I not only refuse to pay a $dormancy fee when my certificate clearly states it is a $fee but also due to her lack of professionalism I no longer wish to ever deal with her again I hope she is happy with the $she made off with for the certificate To me this isn't about the fee because I was ready to pay the $fee listed on my certificate as well as pay an additional amount to upgrade the service This is about what is right and wrong and she is clearly in the wrong I have never dealt with someone so unprofessional I am appalled that rather than honoring what my certificate states she would rather lose out on a $dormancy fee, money for an upgrade, and most importantly a customer! I have shared my experience with my family and friends and they can't believe it either and will no longer be using the services at Namaste
I was given a gift certificate for a spa service at their location. The certificate has an expiration/maturity date of December 2013. On the certificate it states "This certificate matures one (1) year from purchase date. Maturity date listed above. If used past the maturity date, a $20 dormancy fee will be assessed." When I called to schedule an appointment the owner said she is going to charge me a $20 fee per year that it was expired; therefore, she said the value of the certificate which was originally $65 will now be $25 after she takes a $40 fee off for the two years it expired. I don't even understand why she has to charge a fee since the certificate was already paid for and it is not like it is costing her anything for it to be dormant but regardless I explained that the certificate does not state that the fee is per year and that it only says a $20 dormancy fee after maturity date but she said her policy is per year. She suggested I check her website. I said that her website is irrelevant because the certificate clearly states it is a $20 dormancy fee and says nothing about a fee per year. She just kept insisting that I check her website. I went on to explain that then this must be an error on the certificates and as a business owner she should be professional enough to admit to the mistake and honor what my certificate says. She continued to obnoxiously say "check my website" and just kept repeating that over and over. Now that this dispute has occurred my $65 gift certificate might as well go in the garbage because I not only refuse to pay a $40 dormancy fee when my certificate clearly states it is a $20 fee but also due to her lack of professionalism I no longer wish to ever deal with her again. I hope she is happy with the $65 she made off with for the certificate. To me this isn't about the fee because I was ready to pay the $20 fee listed on my certificate as well as pay an additional amount to upgrade the service. This is about what is right and wrong and she is clearly in the wrong. I have never dealt with someone so unprofessional. I am appalled that rather than honoring what my certificate states she would rather lose out on a $20 dormancy fee, money for an upgrade, and most importantly a customer! I have shared my experience with my family and friends and they can't believe it either and will no longer be using the services at Namaste.
