Keystone Guardianship Services

This is a reality checklist of my experiences with Keystone Guardianship Services after they took over my loved one's guardianship two months ago. Fact, not made up, with some snippets of real conversations with them.
o Obtain names, addresses and phone numbers of family, friends and/or interested parties
Provided by me, my loved one's fiance, to them
o If there are any pre-existing funeral arrangements
She has a will and pre-plan I pay in for. And Keystone will need to follow her will at death as this is law and their power over her "person" will immediately end.
❖ Promote relationships consistent with the preferences of the person under our guardianship
They are unaware of these, because as of yet, my loved one has yet to be visited by her guardian
❖ Encourage and support the client to maintain contact with family and friends, unless it will substantially harm the person or their wellbeing.
Again, they haven't visited my loved one in the nursing home as of yet. So this isn't being done.
❖ Maintain communication with the client’s family regarding changes in their status. We will also keep immediate family members advised of all pertinent medical issues. We may request and consider family input when making medical decisions.
No calls have been made to my loved one's immediate family at all. And if I had not reached out to Keystone Guardianship Services myself, I can only speculate I wouldn't have been called either.
***As Guardian of the Estate (Finances), we provide the following services:
❖ Prearrangement for burial
Again, I have made them aware of the pre-plan and my loved one's will. I am the one to be contacted, though my loved one is my fiance, her immediate family doesn't show much of an interest in her to even come visit.
Amount Keyestone is paid by my loved one's insurances it between $300 - $600 a month.
***If your loved one visits you, they will put a stop to that. See copy and paste from a conversation I had with them. "Hello Shawn Unfortunately, she cannot. I’m not sure when she had off my site visits before but when we take over a guardianship, we normally do not allow it."

December 13, 2016Dear Sir or Madam:This letter is to respond and dispute the claim that was filed against our company by *** ***; as an unwarranted cause of action.The Deptof VA had asked us to serve as Legal Custodian for his wife to receive her VA funds and then pay for some additional
care services being provided to her.Unfortunately, the Deptof VA sends out the letters advising of the appointment sometimes months prior to our company receiving the first checkSuch was the case with this file plus others that we were awaiting the first checkWhen receive these calls, my response is that I cannot do anything until receive the 1st check and that I will call them when I do.I thought I had given that response to ***, but I cannot prove itWhen he called on the 26th, I apologized to him and explained that I thought I had, but promised to call him on Thursday the 1st to let him if I did receive the check or not.We did receive the check on the and called him as promised and everything was set up as plannedOur responsibility with the VA does not start until we receive the 1st check, so that is why I feel this complaint is not warrantedAt no time was his wife in any danger of losing her care.Please let me know if you need anything else from me.SincerelyMellanie P.Vice-President
