My horrific experience at Affordable Auto and Repair happened on July 26, 2017 with my engine failing while on the expressway. The owners name is Anthony *** S. On July 1, 2017 I asked for a high mileage oil change to be done on my 2007 KIA Rondo with 135,000 on the odometer. Never had ANY engine issues in the past. I leave the shop after oil change. Car seemed to be fine. It was fine before I brought as well. On July 26, 2017 my car would not accelerate plus a loud knocking noise as I tried to drive on the expressway. I had to pull over! I contacted Mr. S about what happened he told me to bring it in. I had my car towed to his shop, however I was not with my car when it arrived at Affordable Auto and Repair because I had to go back to work to retrieve my belongings (my engine broke down during my lunch period). When I finally arrived at the shop I noticed my car was on the ground (not hoisted up on the lift) while there were three men around my car one under my car on the ground. I found that to be very odd! I asked what they were doing. Mr. S said he was giving me an oil change. An oil change I never authorized! What Mr. S was doing was putting oil in my car that had leaked out and didn't want me to know, so he covered his tracks! But the car kept knocking after the unauthorized oil change. I asked him why it was knocking? He said a rod may have dropped into the engine. A rod dropping in the engine is because of lack of lubricant hence no oil in the engine. My car leaked oil over time before it broke down. He refuse to take blame. He told me someone may have put sugar in my tank. He even offered to commit insurance fraud for me by blowing my engine because I have insurance on my car. He kept insisting I get rid of my car. He said anything but take responsibility for my engine.
Finally, I get my car away from his shop and take it to have it looked at, it differently had a rod dropped in the engine. I paid out of pocket for a new engine and sued Mr. S in small claims court in Shelby County Courts DIV 6. Today 1/8/18 was our 2nd hearing because Mr. S asked for a continuance for absolutely no reason at all but to waste my time and the courts time(that racked up an additional court cost of $190.00), the judge ruled in favor of Mr. S because I could not prove he was at fault! Mr. S covered his trial by doing the unauthorized oil change before I arrived to me car is how he won the case against him. I am $4500.00 out of pocket because of Mr. S. Mr. S is a dishonest man, a cheater and unprofessional! He will say anything to get out of being at fault. The technicians working for him are not licensed nor are they posted in the shop. He could not show proof in court they are. BEWARE!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP!!!! NOT EVEN FOR AIR IN YOUR TIRES!!!!! I wish I could give the review no stars
