BEWARE BIG C
Mr. Big C cashed my check for $4150 on the same day I signed the contract. That was a Friday afternoon. On the following Monday I tried to cancel the contract, which was my right. I was told by the office girl to put it in writing. I did and brought the paperwork down to be signed by both of us. Mr. BIG C acted like a 7 year old, my wife's description but spot on. He refused to sign and told me there was a permit fee and a 10% penalty fee. " Not in his contract". I reported Mr. Big C to the BBB. It took our statements, and I found his full of lies. I did not accept it. He never replied to the BBB after that. It is going on three weeks and my deposit has not been returned. Next stop is the Attorney general. If you like an untruthful roofer Big C restoration is for you.

Bic C Roofing Co. did me a Great Job ! I am very satisfied 100%.
FIVE STARS

Thank you so much for this 5-star review. We are happy to hear that you are more than satisfied with your roof. We're here anytime you need us!

From start to finish, Big C Restoration offered outstanding customer service, fair pricing and professional workmanship. We called them after we bought a house in Port Charlotte when the insurance company threatened to drop us without having our flat roof replaced. When they were finished you'd never know they were there! Not one scrap left behind!

Great work and very professional did a great cleanup afterwards and made sure I was pleased with everything

Thanks ***. It was a pleasure working with you.

this contractor does substandard work. so far I have found poor guality on facia repair to flat roof, damaged stucco that wasn't done at completion of project (returned later and had damaged ares repair with an unknown substance-not stucco), damaged gutter, tar spots all over the new tiles all around the flat roof/main roof. probably close to 40 or more spots in total, damaged plywoor not replace during the tear off (just covered up with tar paper), roof vents which don't have the opening between the meeting pieces of plywood don't have the tar paper cut off to allow air flow through the vents. this complete job looks worse then the old shingles.
Product_Or_Service: roof replacement

Desired Outcome

Refund i would like to have another roofing company to come and fix big c's substandard work and for him to reduce the cost of the original contract about by the amount it costs me to have a REAL PROFESSIONAL ROOFING company fix what they have covered up/messed up. i have before and after pics to back up my complaint if they are needed. (about 40 pic/video total)

I met Mr. a few months back and gave him a price that he liked. I did not hear from him for quite a while and then he called me a few weeks ago. Mr. signed a contract with us for a new shingle roof. I told him that if he went to Home Depot and purchased a new 2x2 skylight that we could install it at no charge. I also told him I would not charge him for the cricket area of his house that had been leaking.
We scheduled the work to be done and applied for the permit. When Lee County issued the permit my partner Charlie and I drove over to his house and posted the permit on his window. I had a gut feeling this customer needed special attention and told my partner that while I was posting the permit Mr. took me around the back and showed me some water damage to his facia and told me he needed it repaired. I told him no problem and that the price would be reasonable. Our price at Big C for stick and lumber repair is $10.00 per linier foot. I sent Craig over to his house the day after the roof was started to repair the facia. Craig is a very capable employee and has done numerous facia repairs for us with no complaints.
Mr. said he did not like the number of seams in the lumber and I told him that all it needed was caulked. When I sent Craig over to caulk after lunch Mr. fired him off the job. The roof had passed Dry In inspection from Lee County and I ordered the roof load of the shingles from our supplier, they arrived middle of last week. The next day the installers showed up and installed the shingles Thursday and Friday. They did such a good job Mr. gave each man a $20.00 tip. The next morning I got a text from Mr. and he said my company had major problems on his roof. I immediately called him twice with no answer on the second call I left him a message stating that this is the kind of thing you don't do thru text please call. He texted back that he wanted a record of our conversations and that is how he was going to communicate. I informed him that we would meet on Monday and discuss our problem. At that time I called the installer Michael and told him to meet us at the job site Monday morning at 9am. After thinking about it my partner and I decided to call for Final inspection from Lee County and postpone the meeting with Mr. for Thursday at 2pm. Michael showed up on Monday anyway trying to fix what ever problems he had. After replacing a few shingles with bull (sealant) on them, Mr. told Michael to leave his property and ask for the tip money back from Friday. Michael did not have change so he gave the customer $100.00 bill for an $80.00 tip and got no change back. The Inspector Mr. who is the head Inspector for Lee County inspected the job for Final and the house passed inspection on Tuesday May 5th. Our appointment was for Thursday at 2pm. When we showed up Mr. came out of the garage and told us to get off his property. The soffit job on the house was a verbal change on the order and not included in the contract. There was 62 linier feet @ $10.00 per foot for a total of $620.00. Added on to the contract for this work. We are willing not to charge for the facia repairs if Mr. is agreeable. This house has passed Dry In and Final inspections from Lee County and the customer has a good roof. All we want is the money $8,867.00 with him not paying for the facia repairs. We have filed a lien and are willing to release it upon payment. Our company has a great reputation and we want to keep it.

Customer Response • May 11, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am a 65 y/o retired u.s.navy e-9. I bought my first house at age 25 and have 4 others since. I have had alot of work by different types of companies to do work on those homes. I have never filed backrupcy, never been late on any type of payments, and never refused to pay a company for work they have done. this is a first for me.
having read bill k. response, I am shocked. he has lot of left out items that would explain my responses to his company. he has also made a very serious alligation that I am a theif. and to make a statement like that on what will possibly be a public post is SLANDER.
so I will respond to bill k. statements as he has posted them.
he left out an important fact about out first meeting. I contacted him in mid feb 2020 because I was getting an cash out refi on my home and the roof was the first item I wanted to take care of. he made an appt with me for 12 pm the next day, because he said he had to be in court that next morning. I waited for him to come and he didn't show up. I waited for him to call or show until around 3pm. but he didn't, so I called him. he told me that didn't get out of court until late, then had to go back to his office to give someone a check. the simple fact that he never took the time to contact me and let me know what was going on bothered me so I told him I wouldn't need his services.
I got a couple of other estimates on my roof and called bill k. back to see what he would charge. he apologized about the first go round and was glad I offered him a second chance. so he made an appt for feb 13, 2020. it was during that appt that he measured the roof and offed to do the cricket and replace the sky light at no charge, and he also included 2 pieces of plywood at no charge. so I explained to him that I was waiting on the loan and would contact him when I had the loan and he said no problem.
the loan dragged on process dragged on and the appraiser put a contigincy on the appraisel that the flat rood facia and damaged area over the garage would have to be repaired. I contacted bill k. again to ensure that the repair would include those areas. bill k. came back by my home. he looked at the flat roof and told me he had someone that could repair that and that I would be about $350. and that any damage over the roof would be fixed during tear off. the apprasers report slowed the process down even more, then COVID-19 hit and that slowed the process even more. finally the loan closed and the money was transferred to my account. on apr 15, 2020 bill k. came by my house and I signed the contract and the notice of commencement so he could get the permit. the permit was issued apr 16, 2020 and he came by to put up his company sign on my lawn and post the permit. since it was so long since we had spoke I mentioned the facia repair to make sure he remembered. he said it was all set and he made a statement that he should measure it so he could make sure he ordered the right material. and he did so. up to this point, I had made no statements or complaints that would make him think I was a "person who needed speacial attention". the tear off was supposed to start apr 17, 2020 but that got changed to apr 20, 2020. at about 6:45 am mon apr 20, 2020 I got a call from bill k. saying their was a good chance of rain for that day and that the crew wouldn't be there until the following day. and I understood that.
apr 20, 2020 around 7:30 am Humberto and Julian arrived to start the tear off. not longer after that Armando (the only one of the crew that spoke english) showed up with the trailer for the debri. I had a large cooler of iced down water bottles for them and told them to help themselves. Craig showed up around 9:30am and told Armando that he had to go to cape coral and that he would be back later. the day wore on I was up there taking pics. Armando had to leave at one point to empty the trailer. and that left just 2 to work on the roof. Armando showed back up a couple hours later and I pointed out one spot on the roof by the flat roof that had a gap in it that went from about 2" at the end to nothing. and he spoke to Humberto in spanish and told me that it would be covered by flashing. they stopped work about 7pm that night and said they would be back in the morning. Craig never showed up. ther left the van and traier in my drive and left in Humberto's truck. Next morning they showed up like they said they would. I also had more ice cold water ready for them. Craig showed up later that morning. Armando was gone emtiing the trash again and getting more supples. Craig did some work then sat in his truck for a couple hours waiting for Armando to return with more facia wood for him too. Craig got the wood from Armando and finiseded his work and was gone. I didn't notice when he left. but around 2:30 pm I walked around back and got a look at Craig's work and was shocked. he got 10' long pieces of wood, but the facia he put up was in multiple much smaller pieces and not 1 single 10' long piece. I spoke to Aramando about it and he told me he had nothing to do with Craig. I called bill k. to talk to him about it (and this was my first complaint to him about the work) Armando and the rest of the crew worked until 8:30 pm that night and had to leave because they had a bigger house to do a tear off on the next day. Craig never showed back up so Armando left drip edge and some more peel and seal tar paper in case.
thur apr 23, 2020, Craig showed up first, and I asked Craig why he didn't use longer pieces of fahcia since they came in 10' long pieces. he didn't have an answer. then bill k. showed up and I showed him what I called about. bill k. didn't even address why Craig used all those short pieces and the the 10' sections, his response was "well all it needs is some chalk and paint and it will look good" I knew I was in trouble from that point on. so bill k. asked me what I wanted done, I told him good workmenship. then he started on about his reputation and wanting to make the customer happy so he could get a good comment and refferals. but at no point did did he offer to tear off the crappy work and do it right. so I just blew off that option. then bill k. offered to chalk and paint it. I opted to just have craig just chalk it and I would do the painting. bill k. asked Craig if he had chalk and Craig replied yes. then I pointed out a "used" piece of wood that Craig used to fill up a gap between the flat roof and the house roof. and of course bill k. didn't have anything to say about that either, just told Craig to replace it and asked me to tell the shingle crew to put up some flashing. bill k. left and Craig started to work. not much later I went into the back yard to check and he was gone. the area was cleaned up the piece of wood was replaced but no chalking was done and he even took his ladder. I called bill k. and told him what happened and told him that I would do the chalking and painting and that I didn't want Craig back on my property. bill k. called me awhile later and said Craig went to get chalk. bill k. said he would discount the bill or take it from Craig's pay. I told him I didn't want a discount or reduction in Craig's pay. that all I wanted at this poing was to get the job done and be done with big c. TO BE FINISHED 5/12/2020

We will apologize and take care of any problems that we caused or work that was neglected. Please let us know when this can happen. We are a stand up company and we always do the next right thing.

charlie, I am getting a licensed contractor's opinion of big c's work and waiting for the reponse from lee county and the state regarding your work. given your right hand man's outburst, bill's outburst, and having been labeled a "customer in need of special attention", I don't really know if big c has anyone I would trust to REDO the mess that you all did the first time. I *** make a decision when I have the second indipendent opion. what I would like in the meantime is a detailed list of the material used, how was used and the cost for everything bill states I owe you above the estimated price emailed to me at ***@comcast.net

Big C Restoration Response • May 18, 2020

Mr., I was trying to speak to you on 5/11/20, when you demanded us to get off your property. We were there to address your concerns and take care of them. I would still like to meet with you to resolve this. Charles R.

charlie, in my response here, on 5/15/20, I asked you to email me a copy of an itimized list for the additional charges. as of today I still haven't received it. I also askked bill by text on 5/14/20. also, I sent bill a text on 5/4/20 notifing him that Humberto left some of his tools here at my house, and they are still here. more to follow on your response about showing up here on 5/11/20 to address my complaints.

Customer Response • May 25, 2020

charlie, you have stated that you and bill showed up at my house on may 6, 2020 to address the issues I had with your companies work. you, bill and I all know that isn't the truth. because after bill read my text, all he RAGED about, and you made a few comments that were the same. all you wanted was my final payment. there never was any mention about taking a look at the roof. and I am not about to pay a PROFESSIOINAL FEE for an AMATUER JOB.
I have asked a few times to get a detailed copy of the extra money you say I owe you. and I still haven't received that.
I have also gotten a copy of the lein you put on my property. and it was done 2 hours after bill's melt down. you didn't even wait to see what the ARBITRATION Process processes results were. and the amount on that lein is $200.00 higher than the amount you have stated here that I owe you. what is that extra $200.00 for?
you aren't a stand up company. I am guessing that you have heard of a "PUPPY MILL"? well Big C is nothing more then a "ROOFING MILL".

Customer Response • Jun 08, 2020

based on Roman Roofing statement, I want them to repair what big c did or didn't do when my roof was replaced. then have that amount deducted from the $8,867 balance on my contract with big c. the we can discuss the additional $690 you say I owe when you provide the proof.

This job was completed and passed inspections with the Head of Roofing Inspections for Lee County Florida. We have tried to settle this issue with Mr.. He will not let us on the property nor will he communicate with us. Mr. has left no other option but to foreclose on the lien. At this time we have turned this problem over to our legal department.

We knew we needed some roof repair after Hurricane Irma but didnt think we couldnt even meet our insurance deductible. Bill F. came by and closely examined our entire roof. Seeing as he is not only a licensed contractor but an insurance adjuster as well, he was able to work directly with our carrier and take the stress level way down. We were able to replace our entire roof and repair other damages. The crew that showed up were extremely polite, were here when they said they would be and did a bang up job fast. They were so clean that afterward I only found one nail. And that wasn't even in a mower tire ! We tried calling other companies. 2 gave outrageous quotes and 1 never showed up. Every time I called with any questions They always found time to help. I would never hesitate to do repeat business. My wife and I highly recommend Bill and Big C !

Mr.,
Thank you for taking the time to give us a review on Revdex.com. As a contractor, much of our business relies on reviews and your honesty and appreciate for the job we completed at your home goes a long way with other customers when they are looking for the best roofing company to work with. We are so thankful for the opportunity to assist you and your wife and look forward to any future / repeat business.

Customers like you make our job so much easier. It was a pleasure!

Buying a new home in SWFL was our dream but the homeowners insurance was extremely expensive (due to the age of the roof) and we were required to replace the roof or be dropped by the company. We talked with several roofing companies and chose Big C Restoration after meeting the owner by chance at a gym in Port Charlotte. Their estimate was not the lowest nor the highest-more middle ground -and we could not be happier with the results of our new roof and the roofing crew. On top of that, we got a nice little refund from our insurance company once the project was complete. We highly recommend Big C Restoration!

Big C Restoration install a new roof at *** in Lehigh Acres Florida In *** 2018. The job was poorly done.
sprayed foam insulation over the satellite dish and shingled over the sewer stack pipes that are already buckling. Correct roofing process was not followed.

Desired Outcome

I am asking the roofer to fix problem. Remove satellite dish and properly install the shingles. Together with properly installation around the stack pipes. If he is unable to do so, I will get another roofer to do it, but expect a credit for the cost of the repair.

Big C Restoration Response • Nov 07, 2018

This job has passed inspection by Lee County government for both dry and and final. If Lee County tells us that we need to change anything that we would be happy to.

We hired Big C Restoration after Irma for a new roof. It did take longer than we were told, but this is understandable as all of Fl. was in need of a roof. The crew was excellent! They covered everything on the ground, they worked well together, quickly, very professionl. Our roof is beautiful!! They did an excellent job. Even picked up every scrap and nails from the yard. I did have a problem with paperwork for our insurance co. When I spoke with Randy, who told me he was the owner, supervisor, and manager,he was extremely rude and belligerent, he did not get the papers to me as he promised. I did get the papers after speaking with Bill. I would hire them again and recommend them highly because the crew was fantastic and the roof is beautiful! Very satisfied!

Big C Restoration cheating the system, trying to hide work that needed to be completed properly...
*** F. was trying to hide major hurricane damage from Lee County Permit department. When I confronted him he had no answers and came out with Charles D. R., owner. They were so frustrated with us catching them hiding major damage they came out with Randy B., he owns *** in Tennessee.. He took over, second go around with trying to install a roof and entry roof. I call for a courtesy inspection from Lee County, the inspector immediately called his structural supervisor whom flagged the whole job.. Randy B. also came out with fellow to try and resolve the issue. It was turning into a nightmare, so we ask to meet and get our 5,000.00 back. They met us at *** Bank and had a list of things they wanted for us to do and not do and sign.. We refused to sign.. The shingles sat on our driveway from Dec. 6th 2017, still no plans in review or proper permitting done for months.. Finally after consulting with an attorney it was advised to remove them from the permit and move forward and ask for our money back. During the meeting they were going to give us back our 5,000.00 back but wanted all the shingles back after months of them sitting there on our driveway. They said they had to return cause they weren't paid for... Bill F. stated that the shingle were paid for when he order them and the fellow that delivered them state they were paid for as I ask..
Bob C. from *** engineering ended up coming to the property and admitting to the inspectors that Big C was negligent in all their construction and that Randy B. told him that it was just a entry roof and no damage to trusses. When in reality there were three broken trusses and one cracked truss. Between Bill F. and Randy B. they lied to inspector after inspector about what was going on. We have pictures to show damage and to show what more damage they done to our home..
On Dec.9th, 2017 in a early morning rain storm the rain came over our front door at a 5AM like a water fall. We had water in foyer, dinning room, living room and hallway.. I notified Big C immediately, no one every called back on came by.. We cleaned it up and called our insurance company immediately, they stated that it was Big C negligence and they had to come and clean up the mess and make our interior back to the way it was from the beginning. Randy B. came to the driveway 10 days later and wouldn't come in the house to see what happened, he refused cause I already called our insurance company. Needless to say after 11 day we had to call our insurance again and file a claim, second claim from on the house in a short time span.. Our insurance company came out Dec 26th. and proceeded to clean up the flooring and drying the house out.
There is a handicap person and 4 other people in this house, we had no Christmas was we had to schedule for *** to come and help us with the mold smell from water laying under laminate wood flooring.. 7 days of fans running and dehumidifiers was very hard on our handicap daughter. As well as two handicap Chihuahuas...
I found a new general contractor, I took my dad as he owns the house to the permit off and we took Big C off both permits and hired a new general contractor, he then helped us hire a new roofer and real carpenters.
Big C still has our 5,000.00 and we have not settled out with them as Charles R. stated that I though I was a contractor and knew everything about roofing.
I was protecting our home from a nightmare of a company...

Desired Outcome

We would like 1/2 of our 5,000.00 back, I know that they shingles were paid for and that was about 2,500.00 when I contacted the supplier and knew someone that stated the amount.. I still don't have a final with all the water damage we received from there carpenter that failed to do the carpentry properly and caused a flood of our home. With how we were treated and all the damage it would be a blessing to get all our money back and they wipe a clean slate as they cause so much more damage than what we already had from the hurricane. It was very hard with a handicap daughter and Randy B. rude statements of, "she don't need to use that end of the house that was flooded." That comment is against the American People with Disabilities Act. He also told me that she could sleep on the couch and use a commode in the living room so she didn't roll her wheelchair over the wet flooring.. Again his comments go against the American People with Disabilities Act. I have not contacted them as of yet, I am contacting you and informing you of what kind of people they are.. Bill F., Charles R. and Randy B. have been of no help or understanding of a home owner with a handicap and elderly person.. They are very disrespectful men. The last text message from Randy B. was on April 2, 2018 with an attorney threat..

11/2/2018
The damage to the house was not all caused by a big tree that fell one the home, it was an elite roof that rolled up and slammed on the main roof of the home. At that time it split the ceiling in the hallway and dropped part of it down, and peeled down the walls. The tree that hit the house done little damage as it wasn't even where the trusses were or where the trusses were broken.

There were no used shingles as the shingle sat on our driveway from 12/6/2017 until April.

As for the letter they wanted my dad to sign was to not go after them or seek anything in return.
It was my mistake to not take a picture of the letter to have proof.

While leaving Randy B. ask Charlie R. to just get in the truck as he was calling me all kinds of names and stating that I thought I was a contractor.

When Randy B. came on the job he offered me 400.00 as Bill F. had stated that every customer I got them he would pay me 100.00.

Later when I was trying to work with them and called Randy B. and ask to explain some things outside of our home that was going around. He came with Charlie R. and I explained that they were getting a bad reputation from Bill F. and his promises and lies.

So I tried over and over to work with this Charlie R. and Randy B. with no avail.

As for them to state that they did our neighbors, there were issues after issues with one neighbor and he had a courtesy inspection and failed as well. He has issues not showing up and then them showing up and tossing cigarette butts all over as well as nails.

All three of our homes had to have light fixtures fixed, AC vent fixed, and exhaust fans fixed for they had fallen from the ceiling.
They were slamming the peel and stick down hard on the roof.

They also had reports of workers living in the office, to which Carmelo denied numerous times. It was a lie! They also had been caught working on Sundays without permits.

There are a lot of issues with this Big C, but they have been buying there way out with a lot of re inspection fees and fines.

Randy B. even went to state that he was going to be fishing with the supervisor of roof inspections.

Between the lies and deceit we had no choice but to move forward and find a real company that would do the work right and too code.

Sincerely,
Shirl E.

On 12/3 the flat roof was torn off along with decking boards, exposing trusses. There was no structural engineering or permit on the property. They proceeded to sister 2x4's along the broken truss boards. It was not nailed incorrectly or sistered properly per head roof inspector. I called for a courtesy inspection for the roof, he immediately called the supervisor of structural inspector who came out and shut the job down. A yellow stop work order was placed on the home. It was doing work without proper engineering as well as improper work done.
Randy B. was called and never showed up for them to explain to him what was going on. As well to rectify the bad carpentry work.
We contacted our insurance company that the company had made a huge mistake an that they were not following codes.
On 12/9 we had heavy rains, with the poor workmanship of their carpenter we had water flowing over the front door into our home. My dad contacted Big C to get someone out there, he left a message with no return. I called numerous time and Randy B. was here twice and I ask him to enter the home to see the damage and he refused. Told me to have my daughter not use that end of the house. She is physically challenged. I ask over and over and he refused to come into the home. I notified our insurance about the flood and was told to contact Big C as it was poor workmanship and they should come in and have it fixed under their insurance of workmanship. They never once entered the home.
We gave them 10 days and reported again to our insurance company whom then said to file a claim and they would have their attorneys handle for them to pay for the damages.
They never proceeded to get engineering as I spoke with the engineer, he was here three times to see the mess they had done along with both roof and structural supervisors. Randy B. was notified and never showed up.
Yes we did meet them at the bank, but they wanted us to sign that we wouldn't contact anyone about the issue or sue them.
12/10 Carmelo came to the property while we weren't home and poured a lot of liquid tar on the entry roof to try and stop the water from running in during rains. While there was a stop work order on the garage wall. My neighbor came and ask what they were doing.
Again we ask for Charlie R. to come and see the damage and he never came to the property.
Roof supervisor of inspections as for engineering as well as structural supervisor, they never came through with any engineering. Randy B. never produced engineering for weeks, when he finally came with engineering it didn't match the truss work they did or the flat roof work they did.
We ask the insurance company for another adjuster as there was more damage than the original adjuster found.

Randy B. came on 1/4/18 to post structural permit. We gave them a second chance. Again the deck boards were removed and they tried again only to fail again for inspection.
The engineer came to the home and seen that it wasn't done to the engineering, the county wanted him to sign that it was done per engineering and he said no. So another failure on inspections. As well as more damage to our trusses for poor workmanship.

After speaking with an attorney we decided to fire Big C and hire another contractor. The engineer was nice enough and re did the engineering and I personally submitted all the proper engineering myself and found a new roofer and GC that came in and did the job per engineering.
We took the ceiling all the way down or the inspectors to see personally how dangerous of a job Big C had done and how much they were trying to hide. Bill F. kept telling us that he would just put plywood up to cover up the soffit that showed it was all nailed wrong. When I confronted him on this he got mad and walked off the job site.
Even the engineer said they were not following the engineering. He also stated that he had not been paid by Big C but being they had screwed us over so bad he would just fix the new engineering to what the county wanted and give to me.
The entry roof was never on the permit. The truss work was never told properly to the engineer, Randy B. told the engineer that it was one crack truss; when it was three broken trusses and one cracked truss.

Out of 8 decking boards used, only one was to code. They also had decking boards going in wrong direction. Peel and stick had seams together so water could get under them.

They started the whole job with no permit to begin with, they 3 days later showed up with permit.

The flat roof had no engineering, it was not pitched properly so made the water run back and down over our front door.

All this was explained to Randy B. whom didn't show up to check things out. He finally came and met with another inspector to go over the flat roof, inspector said no it wasn't right again. Wrong strapping for flat roof, wrong nails, shiners showing through and in the hall the roof was still sagging down. They never lifted or braced up the trusses properly. Big C never entered the house to see how far the trusses had dropped. The only picture they had were what Randy Blackwell ask if I had pictures as his company had non.

We felt that after more damage to the trusses, flooding our home and trying to hide the truth of what they had done we need to just remove them from both permits and seek a proper contractor. The engineer came to the home and stated that they had done nothing properly.

We have children in our home as well as a handicap daughter, the house needed to be repaired properly. They wanted to hid so much and it was getting dangerous. As well if we were to have another situation that needed to be fixed, they would see that non of the trusses or flat roof were repair properly from the beginning.

As for this texting issue, that is a sorry excuse. That has nothing to do with the company fixing our roof.
I have all the text with him asking me to meet him as well to come to the home he was staying at. I also have the information they spoke with a person and had a some nasty remarks to make about me. He ask me numerous times to meet him at the office late at night. He even came to my home and showed me a picture of one of the Hooters Girls that was texting him pictures of herself. So he was out making advances at others as he did me. This is all hear say and again has nothing to do with fixing the roof properly.

They are trying to keep a good status and in time it will all show up how many homes they hid work that wasn't fixed properly.

The flooring was removed 12/26/17, so they had plenty of time from 12/9/17 to see the flood damage. Randy Blackwell was in our driveway numerous times between this and I ask him to see the flooring as we were dealing with water under the wood lamiante that we were dealing with. We had not Christmas tree for our lil one, as we had to have all furniture and things moved for Servpro to come in the next day to tear out the floor and treat it for mold, mildew and dry it out. We had fans and dehumidifiers running for 7 days in our home.

You can see with Lee County all the inspections and failures and stop work order and all the pictures and statements from the county.
The permits for the roof is: *** and the structural is: *** You can also see the engineering that was approved with a stamp that has revision to fix the damage that Big C had caused from poor workmanship of a carpenter.

There were no unused shingles as we had not been able to pass inspections. We had the peel and stick for over 90 days, the manufacture stated that they can't warranty if the peel an stick because it was peeling up and we had to place bricks down to hold it down in the wind and rains from when it was put down by Big C and the new company came in and removed it as well as all the wrong decking boards that were used. At this time the new company found numerous heel stomps that Big C had done when we gave them a second chance. There as a total of 6 holes on the back of the roof from Big C workers. They also dropped at least three handfuls of nails down the dryer vent which cause a back up of lint and damaged our dryer. We wanted them to just be gone, so we just moved forward.
IF the job was done properly from the beginning when we signed the contract with Bill F., we wouldn't be going through this. You can check with the Building Department and see all the failed inspections and other things that have happened.

They are not being honest or faithful with there statements, they just want to walk away free and clear. We owe them nothing, they should return our money for all the for the rude remarks from Randy B. about a handicapped person. As well as all the damage and stress they have caused us.

Sincerely,
Shirl E.

We have responded to this complaint fully the 1st time. We stand by that response. We are considering a lawsuit for slander.

Company is suppose to put a new roof on my house but they started the roof without a permit and are refusing to get a permit doing things illegally!
I am also a victim of Big C Restoration. I am in dire need of a new roof my old roof is leaking. I was told by the company they were licensed and insured and they would pull the permit for the job not to worry. After signing the contract and giving them a down payment I told them my roof was leaking badly to please come as soon as possible they promised to start fixing my roof in a couple weeks however it took them over a month to come by. When they finally started I asked them where the permit was they said oh we will get it tomorrow. The next day I asked them once again where is the permit they said oh we will have it tomorrow and still nothing. The next day I asked them once again and same story. Then the guy says we will be taking a few of the shingles because we gave you to many but he took every last one of the shingles and haven't been back! They had no intention of getting the permit for the job because if they got the permit they would have to do the job correctly not the poor horrible half job they did! They saw an older women and wanted the rip me off! SHAMEFUL! SHAME ON YOU BIG C Restoration! I called a friend and he went up to the roof and said they put black paper over rotten wood and did NOTHING else, not one shingle was put on and it was a mess up there! And now my roof is still leaking I don't have the money to pay someone else! I am a 77 year old senior citizen on a fixed income how could they live with themselves stealing from me! They are a bunch of scammers! They came back a week later and wanted to start working I asked them where the permit was and again they said oh we will bring it tomorrow and left. MY ROOF IS LEAKING I NEED IT FIXED CORRECTLY!!

Desired Outcome

I want them to get a permit to get my roof done correctly! I want the rotten wood removed and replaced and the roof completed as per contract and per county code!

Big C Restoration Response • Aug 07, 2018

I went over to Mr. house. We went upon the roof figured out the problem. I sent my workers over the next day And repaired the knee wall so that it would not leak. There is some dry wall to be repaired inside of Mr. house. I do not have a phone number for him There is a big dog he keeps out in the yard. I'm trying to get in touch with him to find out when we can go inside and repair the dry wall. I will keep you informed. As you can see this is old damage and we repaired it anyway.

This response was taken verbally by Revdex.com:
The business did come out to assess the damage but I would like to know when they are coming back out to do the repairs.

Final Consumer Response /(2050, 21, 2018/11/01) */

After hurricane Irma we needed a new roof and some structural damage replaced. I also knew no matter who did the job it was going to be a drawn out process because of the volume of people needing repairs. So they came out and submitted a bid. We finally decided we would hire Big C for the job.
They got the roof dried in ( we were under a tarp) and went on to other jobs as MANY others needed dried in. We didn't stress because we were well aware that after a hurricane, one has to be patient due to the sheer volume of ppl needing work done. Well, they came back and finished the roof and after that, they came and did the structural repairs. Everything looks great! We are so happy with everything even though it did take time. After a disaster one cannot be selfish and demand for themselves. Things take time. It was worth the wait.
Thank you Big C! A really good company to do business with!

Thanks for choosing big c

We waited till comepletion of job tp give review.crew was professional and courteous.Highly recomend thos companu.Five Stars!!!

To whom it may concern,

Buyers beware; I am a victim of Big C Restoration's seemingly bait and switch tactics as they promised during the contract signing that my roof, damaged by hurricane Irma in SW FL, would be COMPLETELY TORN OFF AND REPLACED by the end of January 2018, but that never came to fruition. Only after the promised completion date had elapsed did I begin calling the salesperson who signed me up, per his recommendation, and was essential told that it was not his job to handle the logistics of the business. I actually invited this man, a stranger, into me and my wife's home where he sold us a false promise. Even worse than their seemingly bait and switch tactic was being made to feel as though I was in the wrong for following up with them as often as I have. Their "boss" by the name of Bill M. would often say to me that they cannot give me a date as to when my roof would be completed because they have "over 140 active jobs at any given time" and actually accused me of trying to "micromanage" the process...mind you, I first began contacting them after their proposed completion date had passed. I called today and spoke with a woman named Connie who was very polite and after she left the office, I could hear Bill in the background aggressively asking, "what does that guy want now?" What I wanted was for them to honor their promise to have my roof completed by the end of January, what I wanted was for them to take accountability for their sketchy sales tactics that lulled me into believing that my roof would be done by the end of January and, on a human level, I wanted to speak with a "boss" who behaved as such and genuinely listened to my concerns before acting on them accordingly rather than someone who placed their money-hungry gross overbooking in my lap as though it was my fault.

I am a first time homeowner and am genuinely interested knowing where my money is going. $7000 for a new roof may not seem like much to some, but I worked hard for that money and neither I nor anyone else should be made to feel the way that Big C Restoration has made my wife and I feel...like numbers and not paying customers. As of this date 2/9/18, my roof has been torn off and new underlayment laid and exposed to the elements for approximately 2 weeks now, a physical permit was just added to my home for the work that has already been completed and was told by Bill that the county was dragging its feet with permits only to read online that the county issued my permit to them at the end of January 2018, and they still cannot tell me exactly when they plan on installing the shingles. Again, if you decide to renovate your home and want it done by a company who honors their promises and do not make you feel as though you and your money do not matter, it might behoove you to eliminate BIG C RESTORATION from your list of options.

February 12, 2018

I am responding to a customer review and complaint from Mr., ***. Due to hurricane Irma and a large volume of roofs to be replaced we are trying to accommodate our customers and live up to our promises on start and completion dates. We have five crews working every day to try to live up to our promises. The high volume of work has also slowed down Lee County Building Inspectors as you can see in the letter attached. We promise to give this job special attention to complete as it is in the dry in stage. As soon as Lee County passes the dry in we will complete the shingling in a timely manner. I will personally manage and push production to satisfy this customer.
I want to personally apologize to Mr. for sounding rude. I did not realize that he was not on hold when I said, "Is that Mr., he calls every single day." We would like to offer a $100.00 discount off his final bill.

Sincerely,

Bill F.

FROM LEE COUNTY SOUTHWEST FLORIDA:

DUE TO THE LARGE VOLUME OF HURRICANE REPAIR PERMITS, ROOF INSPECTIONS MAY TAKE LONGER TO BE COMPLETED THAN NORMAL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

The above documentation can be submitted as sent to us from Lee County Southwest Florida.

Customer Response • Feb 12, 2018

I simply shared my experience with Big C Restoration and Bill F. as a warning to other potential customers, not to save $100. I do not accept their offer and do not appreciate Bill's misrepresentation of what he said and dishonest sale tactics. I only ask that you all complete the job immediately and never make any empty promises to your customers in the future. Thanks!

Big C Restoration Response • Feb 14, 2018

We pushed forward and completed Mr.' job on the 12th of February. My partner, Randy, called and Mr. said he was extremely happy with the way his new roof looked. I personally went to his house to collect the balance owed and personally apologized. Mr. shook my hand and accepted my apology. I told him to take $100 off of the amount of the check that he had already written and he said he did not want to. I told him that the roof looked great and he agreed. I did all I could to resolve this matter and I stand behind the job with our workmanship warranty.
Bill F.

I hired them to redo the whole roof and and rip off the gutter off it was not done or was I made aware.
I paid for the whole roof to be re done thats what I told them when I started and that I wanted the gutters done. down payment was 5,875 and I HAVE PAID AFTER THE JOB 5,000 I still owe 1,045 but I have with held the money. I have in writing on our contract that they were to remove the broken gutters from after hurricane irma when they took off the roof. They did not and I paid for the whole house's drip edge that was not installed where the gutters were at. I was told by the workers that they asked before starting and they were told not to touch the gutters. I spoke with a supervisor and he said that the guys don't touch where the gutters are unless told so. Anyway I spoke with the supervisor randy and he had the workers remove the gutters but said they could not fix the drip edge that would have been done when they removed the roof. they said they would figure something out and they suggested painting the drip edge and I said no that is not what I paid for or wanted from the begining. they said they would but something over I was iffy about it but agreed and withheld some of the money until it was fixed. I have ptures of all this by the way. I came home yesterday and climb up on the latter to take a closer look only to find that they had come over and painted over the old drip edge after I told them that was not what I wanted. and then I found out that they had not done the flat roof which I did not know that was what it was called until yesterday. I thought I was redoing the whole roof and that was what I paid for nobody went over exactly I was paying for. I feel extremly ripped off. they said it would be more money to have that area done and they made it sound like it was a couple thousand more. they said they would have the drip edge done right today 02/01/18 but thats not what they said would happen before.

Desired Outcome

i want them to fix everything that was suppose to be fixed. I didn't know what a flat roof was and they ever went over everything that was going to be done a roof is a roof. so a new drip edge and that little portion of my roof done which is right over my front porch. so it all matches like it was suppose to.
