Bob Penkhus Mazda - Powers Auto Park Reviews (8)

I first encountered this dealership when I saw a vehicle they had for sale at their south, Motor City locationWhen I called to schedule a test drive, the vehicle had been moved to the Powers locationI was informed by a salesman at the Motor City branch that because the managers of the separate locations are "unable to get along with one another, they can't sell each other's cars from the other locations..." I called ahead a few weeks later to schedule a test driveI was told that the vehicle would be there for me to driveWhen I arrived, the receptionist who I had scheduled with had not made an appointment for me with anyone in particular, and the salesman she finally found for me to be helped by, acted as if I was an inconvenience to himHe handed me the keys to the vehicle, told me that his manager, "***" had been driving it as his "demo" car and some of his stuff might be in, but that I shouldn't worry about it(Why couldn't he move his stuff out of the car that was "for sale" and into his office so that a customer could test drive it...especially if I had already called and scheduled an appointment!?) When I got into the car...alone, the salesman did not ride with me and told me to "take my time" I noticed a radar detector hooked into the car, presumably some of "***'s'" personally materials as well as other belongings in the console and seat After the drive, I returned the car and had questions, but the salesman who had sent me on the solo test drive was nowhere to be foundI waited alone at his desk for some time before finally leaving the keys (with ***'s personal keychain and house keys attached to them) on his desk and left A week later, I hadn't received any follow up call, or apologies for being absent on my return after the test drive...nothingBut I was still interested in the carI called again to schedule another test drive and this time brought my boyfriend with me to see if I would be treated any differentlyWhen we arrived, we were greeted with more warmth, and led to the carThis time we had to ask the salesman to come with usHe didn't know the answer to any of the questions about the Volvo we were test driving...a primary make of car that Bob Penkhus sellsWhen I asked how to turn the heated seats on, the salesman told me there weren't anyThis particular car was advertised online with having them, and the price was consistent with a model with heated seats When we got back to the store, I showed the salesman online that the car showed that it had heated seats, when it didn't in fact have them at allThe manager came over and let me know it had been an error in the input on the website an the employee who had done it was "let go." I told the manager I would like the price to lower on the car given the fact it didn't have the heated seats as advertised, and that in the span of the couple of months that the car had been listed online and he had been driving it as his "demo" car to and from his home in Littleton, there had been an additional 2,miles put on the odometer....he told me that was mileage for a demo, and the price wouldn't change for thatHe became rude, told me that the prices they set for their cars didn't come with room for negotiation, but that he would add heated seats after market to the car and that those would be worth about 700-dollarsI told him I didn't want them, but that he could take that much off of the carWe haggled over the price, and then what finally made us get up and leave was when the manager told us about the "MANDATORY THEFT PROTECTION" for $He told us it was a mandatory product in all cars that deters theftI let him know that not all dealers mandated it, it WAS NOT law, and he couldn't require someone to pay itHe told me "you can either pay $and get the product, or you can just have the car be $dollars more expensive." We were appalled by how rudely we were treated and how little they seemed to even want to sell the carIt seemed more like the manager wanted to continue to drive the demo car for himself than to try and sell the car to a reasonable consumerOn our way out, we thanked the salesman and manager for their time and the manager responded smugly "Good luck." In my opinion, purchasing a vehicle is a big decision, and informed consumers in this day should be rewarded with service that tries to earn their patronageActing like you could take or leave a customer's business is a thing of the past, and as far as I'm concerned, I'll make sure EVERYONE I talk to about purchasing a vehicle will hear about my experience at Bob Penkhus, Powers locationI sincerely hope that Bob Penkhus himself has a pulse on the type of service that is being provided by his staff and the reputation that's being created in the community

We feel our purchase became a bait and switchOur understanding was our car would haveA alloy wheels but found they put on standard steel wheel

More than one way to draw people in to their lot, the website is just one of then, unfortunately I check it after my appointment when TRUE Car Locked in at Bob Penkhus mazda at Powers, and I received a Phone call Directly from the Manager *** 10:48am to make sure the presence of that appointment at 2:pm
and for the test driveThen when I get there with my family about hour drive from my location, They break out the apologies that the new mini van has been soldThan after
sales person *** has some good stories to get you into the BAD PRACTICES OF BUSINESS Bob Penkhus in general They KeepHey community out there BEWARE remember that There is More Than one Way To Draw People into Their lot and, more than Bob Penkhus dealership with the same Bad Practices of business, They will Engage you in Lies

If you are considering purchasing a vehicle from these guys I'll save you the trouble DON'T! They are a scam making promises which are lies I purchased a vehicle last October and was guaranteed by the Finance Manager *** that if I purchased the extended warranty and got rid of vehicle sooner that I would be refunded a prorated amount on the extended warranty He was very persistent on selling his warranty and telling me lies! As it turns out they don't refund on the extended warranty unless vehicle is stolen and stopped allowing for cancellation since early 2000's per another manager today It's one thing if you tell me my risks and I lose but when you state something that is for your own benefit you are wrong! I will never do any business with them nor recommend to anyone ever!

Inept finance department at the Powers location. Paid cash for a used vehicle, drove it for over a month, then was told I had to pay another $2000 before receiving the title, based on a higher quoted price on a worksheet by the salesman, that I had signed. Finance person stated that he wondered where the 'missing' $2000 was, and had I paid it by credit card? Makes no sense, but I guess he thought I put $2000 on a credit card, and another $14,000 paid by check. I didn't want to argue with him, I just wanted the title and be done with it. But I bet if I hired an attorney, I would have won. Ridiculous. If you pay cash for a vehicle, and drive it off the lot with a bill of sale, one would assume the car is your's. I had been waiting for my title to arrive in the mail, it was only after 30 days that the dealership contacted me by phone to inform me that I needed to pay another $2000. (!)

This company advertises low prices for vehicles on Craigs List and then tries to jack up the price at time of sale. I responded to a Craigs list ad for a Ford Fiesta priced at $13500. The add said: "All prices exclude government fees and taxes, any finance charges, and any emissions test charge." When I agreed to the advertised price they dealer then wanted to add on an additional $299 for a "theft protection" sticker and $580 for "dealer handling." I was willing to pay all government fees and taxes and a reasonable fee for the dealers paperwork. I offered the dealer $14500 as an out the door price and they did not accept. I believe if they insist upon additional dealer fees for additional profit there advertising should include these fees as well. I will not respond to another ad from this dealership and will not buy a car from them.
