Instant Diarrhea
I had the chicken soup with noodles to go. Not even 10 mins after finishing, my stomach erupted. It’s been 6 hours and I still have stomach pain. And this was the first meal of my day so I know it wasn’t caused by anything else. The food is contaminated. Now searching for a lab to analyze the food.

Review: On the evening on 11/08/2014 my husband and I had take out from this establishment. After eating his meal my husband became very ill and has had stomach cramps for 24 hours now. I called the restaurant and spoke with one of the owners to let her know my concerns. She said that she did not believe that the problem was her food and refused to refund the meal that caused the problem. My food did not taste good so I did not eat much and did not ask for compensation for that just the meal that caused stomach cramping. The owner who would not disclose her name after I asked for it to reference in this complaint said that she would only refund the money ($9.95 and not even the real issue) if we went to the doctor and released our medical information to her stating that her restaurant caused the stomach issues. Hummm. All of this over $9.95? I was simply calling to let her know that there is a problem with the food prep or MSG which she admitted is added to all of the food and not disclosed to patrons. Dine with caution.Desired Settlement: We would like the fact that MSG is added to the food to be disclosed as well as an evaluation of cooking facilities. We do not want the $9.95 that was simply something I was requesting out of courtesy. The owner was confrontational and I did not appreciate the customer service which is why this health complaint has gone this far.

Response:

To Whom it may concern:

On the evening of November 9, 2014, the customer called to discuss with the manager an issue with the dining experience she had the previous night. She stated that her husband had eaten our take out, specifically the Thai basil spaghetti, the night before and was now having stomach cramps. She claimed that the excessive amount of MSG inside our food was the cause of his illness. She demanded a full refund be made instantly to her for her husband’s illness that she personally diagnosed. The customer then disclosed that she was on her way to taking her husband to the doctors to be treated. Thus, the manager kindly requested that while she was already going, to please submit a professional healthcare provider’s diagnosis that her husband did indeed receive food poisoning from the specific dining event in question. The manager was very clear and explicit in explaining that she sought no other personal medical information of the patient other than what was pertinent to this case. Furthermore, stomach cramps is a very common symptom to a plethora of illnesses other than food poisoning, and the incubation period for food poisoning can range anywhere from immediate to 10 or more days, the manager was only seeking professional and proper verification. Like any other business, company policy does not allow any one person to simply hand out and credit money to any customer with a complaint. Protocol demands proper documentation with factual evidence proving that the company was indeed at fault before we may accept full responsibility. The manager agreed with the customer in that the monetary amount of $9.95 was not the real issue, but that by immediately crediting the customer without any real evidence, the company was implicitly admitting fault and accepting full responsibility for the situation. We would have gladly reimbursed or made a replacement for the dish in question if we were absolutely sure that we were at fault. With regards to the Thai basil spaghetti, we do not add any additional MSG besides what is already found within the ingredients we use to prepare this dish such as soy sauce and oyster sauce. The ingredients in these most basic and essential Asian cooking sauces can obviously not be altered. Finally, and most importantly, our establishment takes food safety very seriously. Our front and back house goes to great lengths to ensure that our guests have a clean, safe, and enjoyable dining experience while at our establishment. This is the reason that we request a professional healthcare provider’s diagnosis; we want to fully ensure that all proper precautions are taken to evaluate any instances involving our establishment. We just recently passed a random unscheduled health inspection, which was thoroughly passed on October 17, 2014, not even a month before this incident. We are sincerely sorry that this incident occurred and that it had to come to this form of resolution, we kindly invite the guest back to our establishment so that we may demonstrate the high level of quality food and service we are proud to provide. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me anytime. Thank you.
