Hello, my name is Kyle Knutson and I am the Energy Division Manager of Cedar Country CooperativeI am responding to complaint number [redacted] that was filed on 2/11/ I have never had to do this before so I am a little unsure as to how to proceed Quite frankly, I was shocked to see the complaint and even more surprised after reading it and looking into it After receiving the complaint I called [redacted] to discuss the situation because I had never spoke with him about itI went over each point that he made in his complaint and asked him additional questions and explained the truth about other points that he had made I will summarize each point individually: He did receive his statement and it did show that he used gallons for the month of December and gallons for the month of January I find this interesting looking back at his past history and in January of he used gallons of propane so I find it hard to believe that using gallons more in the same month in a different year could be in his words “astonishing” His next statement states that the average temperature for those two months were relatively the same so he finds it hard to believe that his year old square foot duplex could use that much fuel Actually both months were cold; however, the average temperatures for December were warmer than that of January In his next statement he says that he contacted his landlord to see how much fuel the unit next to him used and there was a $ difference in billsThis is a statement because he told me on 2/19/ that his landlord didn’t know what the other side of the duplex used but the landlord told him what his bill was at a different property The other side of the duplex used gallons in December and gallons in January which is very close to the same usage for both sides of the duplex In his next statement he feels that he shouldn’t have to pay the outrageous price ($per gallon) because it is not his fault that there is a shortage due to faulty equipmentI am not sure what to think of this statement as it is a commodity that is traded by speculators and we are just passing on the increased cost to purchase the gas with less profit per gallon than normal In his next statement and desired settlement he states that we use an electronic meter reader to read the meters monthly for our convenience and he thinks that we should have someone coming to his place of residence verifying that the equipment works properly on a monthly basis Actually we do have an employee physically there on a monthly basis to read the meter and do a visual inspection of the equipment In summary when I spoke to Kyle on the phone on 2/19/he told me that he had called our office regarding the bill and the receptionist was short with him and his concerns were not heard to his satisfactionHe also said that he was really more upset about the price per gallon which is really out of our control to a certain degree Thank you, [redacted] Energy Division Manager

Hello, my name is Kyle Knutson and I am the Energy Division
Manager of Cedar Country Cooperative. I am responding to complaint number
[redacted] that was filed on 2/11/2014.  I
have never had to do this before so I am a little unsure as to how to proceed.
Quite frankly, I...

was shocked to see the complaint and even more surprised after
reading it and looking into it.
After receiving the complaint I called [redacted] to discuss
the situation because I had never spoke with him about it. I went over each
point that he made in his complaint and asked him additional questions and explained
the truth about other points that he had made.
I will summarize each point individually:
He did receive his statement and it did show that he used
65.6 gallons for the month of December and 99.97 gallons for the month of
January.  I find this interesting looking
back at his past history and in January of 2013 he used 86.9 gallons of propane
so I find it hard to believe that using 13.07 gallons more in the same month in
a different year could be in his words “astonishing”.
His next statement states that the average temperature for
those two months were relatively the same so he finds it hard to believe that
his 6 year old 700 square foot duplex could use that much fuel.  Actually both months were cold; however, the
average temperatures for December were warmer than that of January.
In his next statement he says that he contacted his landlord
to see how much fuel the unit next to him used and there was a $90.00
difference in bills. This is a false statement because he told me on 2/19/14
that his landlord didn’t know what the other side of the duplex used but the
landlord told him what his bill was at a different property.  The other side of the duplex used 62.76
gallons in December and 95.42 gallons in January which is very close to the
same usage for both sides of the duplex.
In his next statement he feels that he shouldn’t have to pay
the outrageous price ($2.69 per gallon) because it is not his fault that there
is a shortage due to faulty equipment. I am not sure what to think of this
statement as it is a commodity that is traded by speculators and we are just
passing on the increased cost to purchase the gas with less profit per gallon
than normal.
In his next statement and desired settlement he states that
we use an electronic meter reader to read the meters monthly for our
convenience and he thinks that we should have someone coming to his place of
residence verifying that the equipment works properly on a monthly basis.  Actually we do have an employee physically
there on a monthly basis to read the meter and do a visual inspection of the
equipment.
In summary when I spoke to Kyle on the phone on 2/19/14 he
told me that he had called our office regarding the bill and the receptionist
was short with him and his concerns were not heard to his satisfaction. He also
said that he was really more upset about the price per gallon which is really
out of our control to a certain degree.
Thank you,
[redacted]                                         ...
