Chris Fritz Painting Reviews (%countItem)

I hired Chris Fritz to paint a portion of the exterior of my duplex in Rockledge, Florida. Chris did complete the job, but ended up painting over the bolts for my hurricane shutters. When I noticed this, I contacted Chris to ask him to return and remove the paint from these bolts since this would be a problem when I had to install the shutters during hurricane season. I could do this myself, except some of these bolts are on the second level, which would have do be done by using a high rise ladder. Basically, Chris has refused to do this even after I asked him if he guaranteed his work. I even mentioned that I would need to hire someone else to correct the mistake he made and he did not seem to care.

Chris had been recommended by a friend who had used him in the past. Chris came out to the house and we discussed the project, he gave me an estimate which I agreed to pay in cash. I actually was initially impressed with Chris and assumed he would do a fine job. As I was out of town when he had time to do the job, I gave my friend a check to pay for Chris' services upon completion of the job. My friend did a quick review of the work and paid Chris in-full thinking everything was good to go. My friend did not look close enough to check the hurricane bolts as we all just expect painters in Florida to know not to paint over hurricane bolts since that will be a problem when we are trying to install the shutters. As I said, I could remove the paint from the first floor bolts, but the second story will require me to hire someone else to do that job. I had actually planned to use Chris in the future, but after contacting him on several occasions to ask that he correct his mistake to no avail, he just lost some future business and a cash customer. Most services will guarantee their work and come back without a problem. I was just very surprised that Chris felt no responsibility to correct a problem that he created and did not care that I would have to hire someone else to finish the job.

Desired Outcome

Finish the job I simply want Chris to return to the house and correct the problem he created by removing the paint from the hurricane bolts so they are ready to go for the upcoming hurricane season. It will require a tall ladder, which I do not have. With the right equipment, this could be done in about an hour since it only involves about four windows.

To whom it may concern,
In regards to account #*** (***). He is claiming I painted over 4 screws (out of 18). Nothing was discussed prior to.

He asked for a simple repaint, the screws were painted the previous color, so I lightly painted there, only because they were the previous color.

I've never had a complaint in all my years in business check it out!

I didn't use a coating, just Latex Flat paint, which will not stick when a screw gun is used to install shutters.

First of all, he painted over 4 windows of screws which is about 10 screws per window or approximately 40 screws. There are a total or 18 windows on the house.
Some of these windows are on the second floor which are no easy to access for me. He is incorrect as I added those screws since the last time the house was painted, so the screws were never painted before as they were stainless steel and were stainless steel in color. I was not there when Chris painted the house, but I just assumed as a professional painter, he would know not to paint the screws needed for the hurricane shutters. Basically, it appears he did a hasty job and since I was not there to see his final product is too lazy to go back and correct his mistake. My tenant was astonished that he would not come back and fix the problem as she can not correct it herself and I will probably not be back in the state prior to hurricane season.

To Whom it may Concern, May 15th

I wrote to you earlier, explaining the situation. I simply painted over 4 screws, that were already painted . He hired me to repaint the side. The best I can do is return $100 for him to get a cleaning company to do a job that might take an hr. I am not in town, so hopefully this suffies

Thank You

Chris Fritz

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
What Mr Fritz has told you is not correct. The Screws were basically new since I had paid a lot of money to put in the hurricane shutters a couple of years ago, so they were not already painted. Also, as I said it was for about 40 screws involving 4 different windows. Obviously, Mr Fritz does not guarantee his work and I can send pictures of what he painted over compared to the windows he did not paint to show that those windows have non-painted screws. All I can say is I am surprised that Mr. Fritz is still in business with his lack of integrity and his blatant willingness to distort the truth. Since I was not in town when he did the work, I believe he decided to do a quick job rather than to take the time to cover the screws in the first place as I would not be there to see the final job.
