Lesson 5347-2
My experience with CIE was good until I sent in the last Lesson (Lesson 5347-2) for grading only to learn that school closed on 9/3o/22 My instructor wrote letter saying he resign then he wrote back saying he is back? Even then it was hit and missed on answering my questions In October of this year I wrote asking about my exam and got an automatic reply saying he was not working for CIE. However, I see, the ad for enrollment is still online Someone sold the building but then what? anyway, my test is in limbo and still without certificate

It clearly states on the attached CIE enrollment agre**ent that tuition principal cost for degree programs is per 2 terms (1 year) of study and that the contract automatically renews every year while a student is still active at the school.  The students interest rate for financing his/her tuition and monthly payment amount do not change, but the number of payments increases as new tuition charges are added for every new term a student begins. ** is not acknowledging that per his contract with CIE, the $2,640.00 principal cost is his cost per every 2 terms (1 year) of study completed with CIE.  ** completed 5 terms (2-1/2 years) of study while completing his degree with CIE.  Thus **'s total tuition charges during his terms enrolled at CIE amounted to $6,600.00 dollars, financed at 9% interest.    CIE currently shows that ** currently owes a balance of $2,365.56, per the terms of **'s contract with CIE. As an act of goodwill, CIE is willing to consider **'s account paid in full and issue ** his degree certificate, upon receiving a valid payment of $695.00 dollars from **.  This would in effect reduce **'s cost for his achieving his degree to the cost of his tuition, book, and postage fees only at 0% interest. Please contact me with if you have any questions or need additional information. Thank you. PV

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Unfortunately, given the track record of CIE, I do not trust what is being disclosed. For example, the responder wasn't even able to get my name right in their response. Also, I was only enrolled in the course for two months but accrued close to $7000 in costs which was then turned in to a credit collection agency.I would like to get everything that is being offered in writing so I can make sure this doesn't stay on my credit. If you are going to close my account and close the collection, I want this in writing please or it doesn't mean a thing.

Institute of Electronics, Inc. (CIE).  CIE disputes [redacted]'s characterization of it being a racket or sub-par distance education.   The majority of CIE students are satisfied with the value of their distance education, based on surveys they complete upon graduation. [redacted]'s account was closed by CIE's outside collection agency on March 16, 2016, due to all collection efforts being exhausted.  Neither CIE nor it's outside collection agency will make further attempts to collecting monies Mr. [redacted] owed for the studies he completed at CIE.If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me.Sincerely,PaulCleveland Institute of Electronics, Inc.

From: [redacted]Date: Wed, Nov 25, 2015 at 5:17 PMSubject: Complaint ID [redacted]To: [redacted]Good Afternoon [redacted],In response to the above referenced complaint, Cleveland Institute of Electronics (CIE) will  re-call [redacted]...

[redacted]'s account from our 3rd party collection agency and ask that the record be removed from his credit report as an act of goodwill.    CIE disputes [redacted]'s claims however that he was "scammed", "lied to", excessively billed, "hung up on", or that CIE is not "qualified" to grant engineering degrees.  CIE did lose its national accreditation in May of 2014 - six months after [redacted] enrolled.  While the degrees are no longer accredited, CIE is allowed by the Ohio State Board Of Career Colleges to issue degrees to students who were enrolled prior to CIE's losing accreditation, as part of CIE's degree teach out agreement.  CIE stopped enrolling new students in degree programs immediately upon losing it's accreditation.  Many students who were enrolled prior to the loss of accreditation have chosen to stay enrolled, as they value the quality of the education they are receiving from CIE.Attached is an e-mail from [redacted] to a CIE Admissions Advisor dated June 2, 2014, where [redacted] intent is to keep his student account active. If you have any questions, or need further information, please contact me.Have a Happy Thanksgiving!Paul
