We received a quote from this company to do kitchen/bath remodel. Everything was going okay until they asked for 100% down with no expectation of when the work could be completed. This project was about 75% labor and 25% materials and yet they still insisted on 100% down. We visited them during the CV-19 pandemic and they did not have any crews working and did not know when they would be able to resume work and still they wanted 100% down. In any economic environment these terms are unreasonable and completely unfair to the consumer. We were also informed that if we wanted to use a credit card we would be responsible for the 2-3% processing fee. Unprofessional!

I ordered my counter tops through *** and they used Distinctive as their contractor. The counter top is as expected but when they installed it they tore up my cabinets. They attempted to leave with cabinets that weren't matched up and falling apart. When I called them out they used silicone to hold them in place and told me to leave the shims in place for 24 hours to dry. I left them there for 4 days and when I pulled them out the cabinets fell apart. Before they left I told them I wasn't happy with the way things were left. To paraphrase the response: "I broke your cabinet and can't fix it. Try to take it up with the company later." And they left. I'd never use them again.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. We strive to lead the industry in customer service and quality. Our countertop installers have limited ability to work and repair wood cabinets. Once we learned the fix our countertop installer attempted was unsuccessful, we immediately scheduled one of our cabinet installers to repair.
The repair took place last week, and we're glad to learn you were happy with the outcome. Thanks for your business!

So this is what I've been dealing with since December 13 and I never want anyone else to go through this. We started a kitchen remodel and decided to purchase our cabinets and countertops through *** which they go through Distinctive Surfaces for granite manufacture and installation. I had my countertops installed on 12/13/19. Part of this install is an island peice that has our cooktop in the center of it. During my installation they did not pre-cut the hole for the cooktop. Instead they cut this peice IN MY KITCHEN, which is open to the rest of my house! I came home from a doctor's appointment for my newborn being diagnosed with RSV to find my house filled with smoke and dust. My mother, who sat there while I was gone, even asked the installers about putting up plastic to minimize the dust. When I came home I had to run my baby up to a bedroom which was also filled with a dust cloud. The installers told me that some cuts have to be made on-site so the granite piece doesn't fracture during transportation. I contacted *** (a different company) to ask them about what's "normal" just to get another installers advice. They informed me that the ONLY hole that needs cut in the house is for the faucet and the soap dispenser. They should have cut that piece outside of my home and then carried it in. I also paid extra for labor since the island piece is so big but only 2 men showed up to install. I contacted *** and Distinctive Surfaces about what was going on and they offered to have a company come out and clean my home. Everything is covered in dust including all my dishes and food that is inside all my cabinets. The installers didn't even bother to take out my pots and pans that are stored in the island cabinets. I had a company come out to do measurements and give Distinctive their quote. Then a week and a half later I had another woman come out and say she is giving them a quote. Come to find out the other woman is a private house cleaner and doesn't even do HVAC which needed to be done since I have a return vent right next to my kitchen island! The other woman came in and told me everything she wouldn't do and told me what she thought needed cleaned. She basically told me she would *** the outside of my cabinets and mop my floor. Well I have already done that! She also talked to me for an hour about how she hates cleaning one of her customers homes because the bathroom floor is so difficult to clean. She was very unprofessional. Distinctive is price matching cleaning services while I sit here in all this dust and dirt. I went down to Distinctive Surfaces since they are located by me. 2 men (Dan and John) told me that the only company they would hire was *** (***) and a company I had never heard of to come clean my vents. John got verbally aggressive with me and even started shaking while he was talking to me. The owner sat in his office and watched them treat me like this while I stood there WITH MY BABY. All I asked was that they hire the other company who first came out. They were very thorough in explaining everything and would even place a hepa filtration unit in my home to clean the air. John said NO absolutely not. Then said he would personally like to come to my home just to see HOW BAD IT REALLY IS. Told me that the whole conversation was being recorded and that I was being hard to work with. I hope so cause it was embarrassing on their part how they treated me. *** took pics and even sent them so Distinctive it was so bad. I contacted *** to tell them what was going on. They offered to cut me a check for what the quote was from *** and *** (the HVAC company) which was $1k and I could hire people myself. They didn't offer to take money off the installation or anything. The installers made a rough cut and didnt seal it so even after I clean, more dust and dirt continually falls down from under my island where the cook top is. I have spent my whole maternity leave cleaning every dish and piece of food in my house. I know this may not seem like a major problem but this is MY HOME. I have 4 children and 2 pets living around this. We are still finishing our kitchen renovation, laundry needs done everyday, my oldest has soccer practice and games, I work nightshift as a nurse and this all just adds up. I don't have enough time in the day to keep up with all the cleaning. I would highly advise against using Distinctive Surfaces!

We apologize for delivering a less than satisfied experience. Our goal at Distinctive is to serve our customers, and meet their expectations every time and it's clear this didn't happen here.

We attempted to hire house cleaners and duct cleaners for the customer once we were notified of the mess that was made from her countertop replacement. When the businesses and contractors were not the folks the customer preferred to use, we offered $1,000 for her to coordinate the contractors of her choice. We're sorry if the $1,000 original offer was not in line.

As of writing this response, the customer has accepted $1,800 for her to coordinate the house cleaning and duct cleaning. I hope this satisfies the customer and Revdex.com in this matter.
