Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: The company states that they have no record of my cancellation requestYet how is it that they have received no payment, no contact and no use of an account for over three years? If I am paying the extream fees that Events and Adventures is demanding for their event planning, I would have been using the service There was no prior warning, contact or indication of a past due account- the first I have heard from the company since my cancellation in May was when I received a letter from the head office dated October 21, 2016, stating my account was past due and to contact themOnce I explained that I had cancelled my contract, I attempted to find the email proving the cancellation of my contract I then called the office back on November to explain that I had been unsuccessful in locating the emailI was told my account was going to collections, but if I worked out a payment plan, I would be offered 50% the amount owingI was told I owed $3295- though I have no idea how they came up with this amountThere has been no break.down of costs- yet I am expected to pay over $to a company I stopped doing business with over years agoNo one attempted to contact me to figure out why I was no longer signing up for events, or paying for my contractOne would think, that if a customer stops paying for a service, that the company would either send them a letter asking about payment, or would try to contact that person in some way asking about paymentNo one ever contacted me Therefore, I was under the impression that my contract with this company was cancelled and I had no need to continue contact them further Sincerely, [redacted]

Ms [redacted] signed up with our Minneapolis club for a three year membership access that began 7/21/Ms [redacted] signed that she understood our policy I have attached this part belowMs [redacted] has paid a total of $on her agreement and her membership and dues balance does still remain owedWe would be more than willing to give her some event credits to assist in utilizing the paid events on us! We do advise upon signup and initial phone conversations that some events do have additional costs depending on what it is, although we have many free events! If Ms [redacted] does still wish to close her account we can look into a settlement on her remaining balance to close her out if she wishes to do so!

Nature of the Complaint: Billing or Collection IssuesConsumer’s Original Complaint:I joined Events and Adventures in December while I resided in Phoenix, AZI interviewed for the club, and was asked to joinAfter discussing my options in case I were to move because I was looking at a possible relocation, I was told I should have no problem canceling my membership without penaltyI paid an up front fee and the first months, never attending one eventShortly after my second monthly payment, I changed employment and I asked to cancel my membership as I moved to a location the club does not have eventsI never received confirmation that my membership was cancelled but my account was not charged again so I thought it was taken care ofAbout months later (May 2017) I was informed by my previous residence that I had mail from them, containing bills for the previous monthsI then contacted my original sales person, she no longer works there, but told me to call them and discuss the situation and I should be able to get out of my contract because I am residing in a place where they do not operateNo avail, they wanted me to pay for the remaining $1800+ for the rest of my contract feesI eventually was offered a $settlement and to think about it and let them knowI am at a loss, after showing proof of my current residence, they insisted that I pay for the remainer of their services I didn't attend one event, and am unable to participate now that I movedI was told I would be put on e-mail billing in the next month if they did not hear from meI did not receive any emails, post May, about this issue until yesterday (July 20, 2017).I was informed that my account would be sent to collections on July unless I agree to pay a $settlementAny help in this matter would be appreciated.Consumer’s Desired Resolution:I would like to be freed from my contact, free of charge.Company’s Response:Ms [redacted] signed up on 12/22/in our Phoenix office for an month membership accessShe agreed to the cancellation policy on the agreement of three business daysAs a courtesy we do waive off dues payments owed for members who are relocating as they will not be able to utilize the club, however the membership balance does remain owedWe received the proper documentation from Ms [redacted] to waive off her dues payments and have offered a settlement on the remaining balanceWe did receive her request to remove her from automatic payments in February and have honored that, however we have not received payment since 2/22/and the balance is on the verge of being processed to collections due to non paymentWe have been attempting to contact Ms [redacted] since February 24, in regards to reconciling her balance owed We have attached the email attempts in regards to following up with the member’s request, we would encourage the member to review spam folders in case they were mistakenly placed thereWe did receive a notice that the email we attempted to use for billing kicked back so we proceeded to mail the billsI believe we had an incorrect email at that timeI have attached the bills as well.At this point we would love to reconcile this with the member as she is no longer able to utilize the clubPlease have her respond to our settlement offer as we do not wish for the balance to continue to be escalated to collections

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:To say that I'm claiming the contract is fraudulent because "it does not say what [I want] it to say" is offensive, patronizing and patently incorrectI read the contract, and I signed it, but when I discovered that I had been led astray by your salesperson who bent the truth to appeal to my interests, I sent a letter within the allotted time period cancelling my membershipNo, I did not send a certified one, but to expect me to pay $for a misrepresented product because I didn't certify a letter is ridiculousFurthermore, the company claims that if they were being dishonest, "customers would quickly have a pile of complaints and a member mutiny." Have they looked at any of their reviews online? Try YelpTry the Revdex.comTry Consumer ReportsIn my investigation of this company's practices, I've also discovered that members are offered incentives to leave positive reviews online to counteract the negative onesSketchy indeedAgain, at this point, I'm not asking the company to refund me anythingI'm merely asking that they remove the $charge from my account with the collection agencyIf the company is, as they claim, so successful, $shouldn't matter to themBut it matters to me, because I refuse to pay any more for services I never receivedI'll be moving forward with my investigative report into Events & Adventures' dubious business practices, so if you'd like to direct me to someone who can make a statement on behalf of the company, I would be eager to her his or her side to ensure I publish a response to the dozens of people who have agreed to go on record about their negative experiences with the company Sincerely, [redacted]

Company’s Response:Ms [redacted] joined our club on 6/26/in our San Francisco officeThe cancellation policy on the contract is as follows: Ms [redacted] only needed to send in a certified letter to us requesting to cancel in the first three business days in order for a refund to be processedWe did not receive a letter therefore no cancellation was processedWe request a certified letter in order to ensure the member receives a receipt of delivery to usAfter reviewing Ms [redacted] ’ concerns we will honor the cancellation requestWe have refunded her the full amount paid at sign upWe apologize for any miscommunication in regards to these mattersWe have attached the receipt for the refund as well as the original agreement that was signedWe do make sure our staff advises of the cancellation policy prior to all new members agreeing to the membership

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I have an email stating I would have to prove relocation, eluding to the fact I would receive a refund I never would have signed up had I not been "pressured " to sign up that day, with the assurance I could get a refund if relocating

Revdex.com:They have my information on fileSincerely, [redacted] **

We have been in contact with this memberAttached are the emails documenting that she has agreed to lower her payments and move them back a few months to help her in this time of needPlease see her attached contract and documentation

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:I was informed while sitting in the office that I can CALL them to cancel my membership! I did so the following day! I called and asked specifically for the person I had met with and informed the secretary when SHE ASKED what is it n relation to and I told her I wish to cancel my membership. She told me he was out for lunch and that she would have him return my call. I told her to please transfer the message to him because I cannot afford it and she said ok.A few weeks later I am being informed that the membership was not cancelled and that I have to pay the balance. I informed them that I had called and requested my membership to be cancelled and was told it is now too late and I need to pay.I wrote them messages and even went there in person to cancel it and they were adamant to collect money from me for services I have not used or have attended anything.I did a few quieries and found out that this is a regular thing for this company! I do not wish to defame this company, I just want to have my name removed from their company and for them to remove my name from the credit place!

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:I no longer wish to be a member of this clubI was not comfortable around the people I encountered and do not feel that by adding credits it will make me feel any more comfortable Sincerely, [redacted]

I do not have anything certified as I sent it regular mail I believe it was to the place where I signed the contractHowever, I did attached a screenshot of the email I sent in December requesting the address so that they can cancel my account which I received no response. Also, as per your email now it states that I cancelled my membership MARCH as you can see by the screenshot events and adventure continue to attempt to deduct my account way into JUNE which is my point! I spoke to a lady who was rude as heck to me and she told me that she would not stop deducting my bank account and that she would not cancel my account periodso eventually I got so upset I told her to take me to collections b/c at that point that was the only way I can think of that would get them to stop trying to deduct my account and accumulate charges on my account b/c she did inform me that each time the funds were rejected my balance would go upseveral months later is when my account was sent to collectionsWhich is probably why my balance went from $(contract) to $(whats in collection) none of which include what I had already paidLike now no one cared about what I was trying to tell them, they just wanted my money! Regardless of the fact that I never used the product/service

Geoff did indeed talk with me, and he asked me to give them another chanceHe said nothing about meeting with JacqueAfter telling him I would attend the event, I had second thoughtsI am just not comfortable being around the same people who have ignored me in the past nor will I accept the small turn-outs which go against what was promised when I joinedI am not changing my mindI was duped into believing this was a large and diverse with attractive and compatible singlesI was led to believe Hosts would facilitate a welcoming environmentAnd I for sure did not sign up for spending time with people who make me feel uncomfortable with their unwanted attention or their lewd behavior such as wearing ripped pants and not wearing underpants When I rethought Geoff's offer, I decided to not goI called the very next day and have yet to hear from him or anyone elseIn addition, I called the corporate office in Washington and received no responseFinally, Several weeks ago I was told to call Elizabeth in ArizonaShe has also declined to call me back This situation is not fixable in regards to me staying in the club or paying them any more moneyI hope my complaints help others, but I am doneI am willing to pursue legal action if needed and have seen several other reports about this company and its unsatisfied promisesIn Chicago there was a class action suit against them, and I am more than willing to enact the same kind of pressure

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:I no longer wish to have direct contact with this company. I am asking to be released from the contract in its entirety for the reasons I have stated earlier. Sincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: There has been no resolutionI want this removed from my credit and I will continue to be persistent until you doI have provided you plenty of documentation in order for you to see your sales person sold me a package under pretensesI sguest you view the responses more closelyI have chosen to take this to court and Sue your company we will request the so called recorded video she also stated was going on at the timeIm asking you to reconsider your options and take note of the kind of sales people you have employedSincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: I do not feel that I should pay for services that were canceled by the company when I contacted them in February when I lost my job due to medical issues, nor continue to pay DOUBLE FEES monthly (monthly & contract) Yes they were contacted by my mother and the news AFTER REFUSAL to work with me under the circumstances, also I DID NOT give them permission/consent either verbal or written to speak with either my mom or the newsI signed the contract under duress/pressure, that it had to be signed IMMEDIATELY at the time or I couldn’t participate in their service for the “one time only” priceAnd after the news got involved and they “reduced” their settlement in which my mom not me,was informed by the news not them and when my mom called on that she was told it had to be made in two payments or in fullI feel I have paid them more than enough to cover services NOT recieved when felt FORCED to sign their contract
Sincerely,
*** ***

Again, we apologize for any confusion however the contract is clear, legal and bindingWe will be more than willing to do a settlement on the balance to close the account for less than what is owedPlease have the member contact us if he wishes to do so
