We purchased a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee from this car dealer for my daughter. There were several mechanical issues (brakes, muffler, front end, valve cover gaskets). The [redacted] of the business agreed to fix the problems when they were pointed out to him in the first 3 days of the purchase. HE DID NOTHING THAT HE AGREED TO DO. He kept giving the runaround. We would drop the car off to him and he would tell us he was waiting for parts or that he had fixed the problem. He had the car at his shop for more than 2 months. My daughter had the car for a week. He would not return calls and we had to go with a police escort to get the plates which were missing when we got there. This is not just buyer beware, this is DON'T THINK ABOUT BUYING OR EVEN LOOKING AT A CAR FROM THIS GUY. IF YOU DO, YOU'LL BE SORRY. NOW WE HAVE TO GO TO COURT to get our money back.Product_Or_Service: AUTODesired SettlementWe want our money back. ($2,200.00)

Purchased a used car. returned car to dealer 3 times within 30 days. problem remains.Instrument panel was tampered with during the second visit.[redacted] purchased used car from Gillespie. Was told the catalytic converter was just replaced and he need to do more work prior to delivery.[redacted] car failed inspection and check engine light came on. Notified Gillespie.[redacted] car dropped off for repair. dealer took car back to inspection station without my permission for sticker.[redacted] check engine light came on again. Notified Gillespie.[redacted] dropped off car for repair. after picking up car I noticed the check engine light no longer illuminated during the bulb test when first starting a car.[redacted] took car to autozone to confirm car still shows problems with catalytic converter. Notified Gillespie. Also advised Gillespie of suspicious of him tampering with vehicle display.[redacted] took car to new car dealership to investigate problems with catalytic convertor and check engine light. Dealership confirmed that the check engine light was tampered with and tape was placed inside the instrument panel to block the light from showing. advised the catalytic converter was not recently replaced and currently needed replacing. Price quote for repair - [redacted] On [redacted] my mother called Gillespie Car Care notifying them of the evidence of tampering of the check engine light, and Toyota's assessment of the problems with the catalytic converter. He loudly stated now that the car was taken to a dealer and he didn't give permission for that and the warranty is now voided and he doesn't have to fix anything. He also stated that the diagnostics at the dealer were not valid because his code reader said everything is fine. We argued that diagnostic testing twice at [redacted] once at the [redacted] dealer, and an ongoing problem with the check engine light lead us to believe there is a problem. After shouting back and forth and having [redacted] state several laws to say how he could charge [redacted] every visit for coming to see him, which he waived, he stated doesn't have to do anything. He said there was no warranty on the car. [redacted] advised [redacted] that under the IMPLIED VEHICLE WARRANTY he would still be responsible as the problem arose within a reasonable period of time and he was notified of problems on the 7th day. [redacted] agreed to fix the car the next day. He was told that the car would not be left unattended since we believe he already tampered with the car. [redacted] said bring the car in for 2:00 so his insurance adjustor could look at the car. He ordered a catalytic converter and it could be installed the next day at a repair shop. We requested service records for the repairs he said he did. He said he didn't charge for repairs, and he didn't do repairs, it was a leasing company who did them so he is not responsible for providing repair paperwork. We told him that dealers are required to provide service record even if repairs are free according to section 940 CMR 500.On [redacted] Gillespie stated the insurance adjuster already approved of the repair and he had the catalytic converter in hand. We took pictures of the new catalytic converter. [redacted] asked us to follow him to [redacted] to a shop that was emission certified. We arrived at [redacted] on [redacted] in [redacted] They ([redacted] and [redacted]) put the car up on the lift and stated the catalytic converter couldn't be installed as is. Gillespie then said to follow him back to his shop and he would get a welder there. I asked if he was an emission repair shop, he said yes. I asked if he had a certificate. He said yes. I said I would need to see it. He said OK. While driving back to his shop, he called and said, he would give us the catalytic converter for us to have installed and he would reimburse up to $100.We declined and said he needed to fix it. He said he would cut the exhaust off the car and send it out for welding without the car. Advised him we were uncomfortable leaving the car unattended due to tampering. He said he would sue me for slander and declined further repair.Desired Settlement1. I am requested to file a claim against his dealer license and/or sales license for tampering with my personal property.2. I am requested repair of the vehicle to correct any and all problems with the catalytic convertor and resulting problems with the check engine light. I am requesting that since three repair attempts have been made, that I make repairs at the location of my choice with payment for repairs from Gillespie Car Care.3. I am requesting reimbursement of the [redacted] spent at the [redacted] dealership to prove the car instrument panel was tampered with, after I purchased the vehicle4. I am requesting a bill of sale and all service records for the vehicle including information from his insurance adjuster.

I purchased the car from the dealership. It didn't pass inspection. Owner told me to buy part, he would reimburse me after, never received the money.[redacted] sold me a used vehicle, when it didn't pass inspection, and needed parts to repair it, he told me to drive to Ludlow, Ma so that he could inspect it himself, which I did, after waiting two weeks, he then told me to bring it in again, and he would fix what it needed to pass inspection, it didn't pass again as the repairs were not completed, so [redacted] told me to buy the part and he would give me back my money when he fixed the car. It finally passed, but he said he didn't have the [redacted] on him to reimburse me, still waiting for my monies.Desired SettlementJust want my money for the part.Business Response Customer waited 4 weeks before registering the vehicle, and the vehicle passed inspection. However the customer was requesting a pit-man-arm and idler-arm be installed. Even though the customer didn't meet the requirements of having the car registered and inspected within the first 7 days per law, we had the customer come to our dealership so that we could replace the previously listed parts. We could have charged the [redacted] deductible, but we did not. There was no cost to the customer, even though he failed to meet his requirements by law.
