Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2016/02/01) */
Response from Fundy Honda:
On January 7th 2016, Our Client brought his *** in to have a concern diagnosed by our service departmentI have attached a copy of the Repair Order ***, which illustrates the concern as being "Report
on vehicle revving up instead of going faster......"In turn we assigned our transmission technician to road test and diagnose the concernPlease also refer to the attached RO ***Our technician diagnosed after removing the inspection plate to the clutch, that the clutch had left excessive dust and was worn out to the point where there was no longer enough frictional material to function properlyThere were no mechanical parts broken within the clutch or the transmission and there was no mechanical or manufacturing defects located upon the inspection being completed
At this time our service consultant informed Our Client of the status and advised him that the next steps would be to remove the transmission in an effort to expose the clutch components for a more complete inspectionIt was explained that Our Client would be responsible for the cost of the removal and re-installation of the transmission and the parts required in the event that the clutch was found to have no manufacturer defectsOur Client was issued a formal quote for completing the work of replacing the clutch friction disc, pressure plate and the scorched flywheel in the event that it was deemed not covered under warrantyPlease see the attached quote labelled "Quote"
Our Client took his vehicle, and over the course of the next days, contacted *** and discussed his concern with the *** explained to Our Client that the process Fundy Honda had illustrated for him was the correct process, and that Our Client would be responsible for the cost of repairs in the event that the clutch was not covered under warranty
On Jan 11th, Our Client brought his *** into the service department and as noted by the repair order attached and labelled "RO ***", "Please remove transmission and clutch, have pictures taken of clutch which need to be sent to ***If clutch is deemed non coverable, subject to hrs labor at $*** plus tax and any hardware needed." Our Client then signed the RO authorizing us to continue with the removal of the transmission and inspection and submission of findings with a clear understanding that if the clutch was deemed not covered under warranty, Client would be responsible for the $*** in labor and necessary parts plus HST
We were also instructed by *** of *** Customer Relations to engage *** in the decisioning of warranty coverage for this concern
Upon removing the transmission, it was clear that the clutch showed significant signs of overheating and excessive wearI have attached the same pictures that were sent to ***'s Techline (***'s field engineering and technical assistance division)Upon *** reviewing the images it was deemed that the clutch was worn out due to wear and tear and that there were no manufacturing defects foundThis information was also communicated with our Client and *** Customer RelationsTo note, the images I have attached indicate significant scorching of the pressure plate and the flywheel which are indicative of excessive heat commonly associated with extremely hard or severe use of the clutch
At this time our Client was given the option to install new parts prior to reinstalling the transmissionAfter approximately 2-days the Client decided to have us reinstall the transmission and elected not to install the new parts as recommended
The Client picked up his vehicle on January 19th and paid his amount owing of $*** plus HST as seen on attachment "Invoice ***"
To conclude, I have also attached a letter from *** as a formal written response to our Client's concern
