Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: This has nothing to do with warrantee coverage on the home Great Western Homes hired contractors to put the roof, skylights and vents in place on roof It was unknown to us until we had contractors come out years later when damage was becoming more obvious from within our home of damage to roof and interior of home due to poor workmanship Both contractors that inspected our roof determined this because the metal roofing was put on incorrectly (backwards) as well as the wrong vents and incorrect seals for skylights Poor workmanship is not part of a warrantee, this was work that was done by professional contractors that Great Western should as well hold responsible for doing a job incorrectly that has caused damage that obviously would take time to show from within home due to weather We would like this to be resolved by having the roof replaced correctly as well as seals and vents that are to be installed for a metal roof (not vents for shingle roofs like they installed) Both contractors have noted that this is only the start of the damage that will continue to occur and become worse from the gaps that are within the metal sheets that do not seal together The roof on the southwest end has become too soft to walk on near the skylights due to leaks This is becoming a serious issue that Great Western Homes needs to be held accountable for and to follow through for roofers mistakes Regards, [redacted]

To whom it may concern,                The house located at [redacted] has a variety of problems concerning how the roof was installed. The front slope appears to be ok, but the slope on the back is not. The metal roof panels do not line up properly as if it were done backwards. There is insufficient venting for the attic. I would suggest ridge vent all the way across the peak. The pipe boots used for pipe vents are for shingle roofs. It needs lead-based pipe boots used on metal roofs. The skylights were installed with wrong flashing. Once again materials are for a shingle roof. There is flashing made for metal roofs and this is what should have been used. There is a bunch of silicone used on skylights in attempt to cover large gaps. A bead of silicone should be used instead of three tubes per skylight. If there are any other questions please feel free to get a hold of me.[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:   This has nothing to do with warrantee coverage on the home.  Great Western Homes hired contractors to put the roof, skylights and vents in place on roof.  It was unknown to us until we had contractors come out years later when damage was becoming more obvious from within our home of damage to roof and interior of home due to poor workmanship.  Both contractors that inspected our roof determined this because the metal roofing was put on incorrectly (backwards) as well as the wrong vents and incorrect seals for skylights.  Poor workmanship is not part of a warrantee, this was work that was done by professional contractors that Great Western should as well hold responsible for doing a job incorrectly that has caused damage that obviously would take time to show from within home due to weather.  We would like this to be resolved by having the roof replaced correctly as well as seals and vents that are to be installed for a metal roof (not vents for shingle roofs like they installed).  Both contractors have noted that this is only the start of the damage that will continue to occur and become worse from the gaps that are within the metal sheets that do not seal together.  The roof on the southwest end has become too soft to walk on near the skylights due to leaks.  This is becoming a serious issue that Great Western Homes needs to be held accountable for and to follow through for roofers mistakes.
