Handy Builders Reviews (6)

We are trying to come to a resolution regarding this matter We have been in contact with the clients on resolving this issue We heard back from the insurance company on 4/12/regarding the outcome of the claim, and since have been in contact with the clients

The flooring job still did not come with a warranty it was done in addition to the garage that did have a month warranty Regardless, the areas on the floor that are having problems are in front of the cook top, in front of the door, in front of the dishwasher and where the chair fell over These are all areas where things have been dropped and dropping things on ceramic tile can chip, crack, and loosen tile which when a tile is loosen it may shift As for the chairs being knocked over that IS a different issue, I can assure you that our kids did not knock of the chair [redacted] Handy was the only one there when the chair was knocked over by your dog she had finished cleaning and [redacted] was excited and knocked the chair over, since your cleaning person just happened to be my wife she notified me about it and asked if I could repair it, for she felt responsible for it since [redacted] was excited about a treat Please contact us so we can arrange a time to put this in writing and get the floor re grouted and hopefully put this behind us I am sorry that this has been drug out thus far and hopefully we can come to a mutual understanding and resolve this with our friendship still intact We look forward to hearing from you

I am rejecting this response because: This job was a separate job, not part of the garage (we were still obtaining permits for the garage in Nov/ Dec from our township.) The flooring was a job completed by Handy Builders in October.  The garage was built in February. And paid separately from the $25K we paid for the garage.  As long as we have the 24 month warranty for the re-grout job, we will take the next steps. The chips ARE from us dropping things, as we stated numerous times. Dropping a glass on the floor causing a slight chip WOULD NOT cause a tile to shift.
The initial drop (as ref from [redacted] Handy) was from a chair that fell when Handy Builders had their kids in our house while we were away and our dog was there just after the job was completed before we returned home from VA.  The dog (and potentially the kids) knocked the chair over, per [redacted] Handy. That initial chip had to be pointed out by us and questioned what happened. (thats a separate issue that was corrected, but that area is still the main problem area). In addition to in front of the cook top, in front of the door and in front of the dishwasher as stated initially.
We will expect a written warranty for the re-grouting, Handy Builders is to cover all supplies and labor.

Review: On Oct 12, 2012 Handy Builders installed a ceramic floor in our kitchen. The agreement was to put down a ceramic tile floor correctly - backer board, tile, grout and sealant. This also included a 24 month warranty that Handy Builders has with the company. The first week we noticed crackling sounds. [redacted] Handy came back out, lifted that area of the floor and reinstalled the tiles. Throughout the next year and a half or so, the grout has now been coming up over various areas and the crackling noise is tiles not secured to the floor. We have contacted [redacted] several times and he put a claim into his insurance company. The adjuster over the phone told us this was NOT covered. Since then we have been trying to contact him to redo the floor properly- using a glue to glue down the backer to the sub floor, which he admitted he did not. He put down the backer directly on top of the sub with NO glue in between. This caused the tiles to shift and the grout to come up. We are not sure what to do next and are getting no where with our floor being fixed.Desired Settlement: Replace entire floor correctly- Glue, backer board, thin set, tile, grout and sealer. AND the cost of the materials- incl the tile we bought.
