Ibsen apparently has a contract with the Washington State Patrol (WSP) for impounding vehicles involved in DUII was wrongfully accused of DUI due to an unrelated medical condition that does not impair my drivingMy car was impounded for hours while the officer questioned me, and I ultimately was not charged with any wrongdoingIbsen charged me $for the towingI believe that A) the amount is unreasonable and B) this is the problem of the police officer as they should be well-versed on all sorts of medical matters the general public may faceSo Ibsen should charge the police department if they wish to be compensated for the towI can understand WSP may have legal immunity from such liability, but as a private company, Ibsen can choose to or not to do business with WSPWhen I pointed this out to the business while picking up my car, they informed me I could file an action in court but it would cost $to file, and I would not get this amount back even if I winI believe th

MESSAGE:Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
1.  The jump-start referenced in C was actually necessitated by Ibsen leaving the lights flashing during and after the towing
Ibsen Towing response to 1.: We believe our customers have a reasonable right to privacy, for this reason, as well as our own safety, we do not enter a customer’s vehicles unless a matter of public safety is present or the customer has specifically requested us to.

3.  Ibsen contracts with the WSP and should share some of the responsibility in my opinion.  Besides, had Ibsen requested the police run further tests on the spot, it would have quickly ruled out any towing.  It was clear Ibsen was hungry for profits first and questions later.
Ibsen Towing response to 3.: Ibsen Towing has no legal standing to advise the Washington State Patrol in matters of law enforcement nor would we consider impeding any law enforcement agency at any time.

5. Ibsen towing did not "provide a service", as I was sober and able to drive the vehicle and/or call my private insurance to tow the vehicle away from any obstruction of the highway, for a much lower amount.
Ibsen Towing response to 5.: As previously stated the service provided was a vehicle impound at the direction of law enforcement and the fees associated with it are in accordance with RCW 46.55.063.
6. I have also offered to settle with Ibsen in the middle but apparently they would prefer to go to court and risk the entire amount and waste everyone's time, including taxpayer funded court time which could be better used to go after murderers, rapists, real drunk drivers, etc.
Ibsen Towing response to 6.: As previously stated RCW 46.55 provides due process by a district court of appropriate jurisdiction for customers that believe that their vehicle was improperly impounded and/or to contest the fees charged. Ibsen Towing does not believe that due process is a waste of anyone’s time.
