Dear [redacted]   Thank you for forwarding the message from said business. Again, no monies are owed to me, per say, but there are some statements made by The Joslen Motor Lodge which I must correct. My receipt in fact reads 6/11-6/17. The local police officers can attest to this. As for the issue raised about charging me $300 vs. $325, that is another point I would like to raise as well. I placed a phone call on 5/11 and inquired if they had a weekly rate. They confirmed that they did and that it was $300 per week. Upon move-in, I was informed that it was $300 even (without tax) if I paid cash and $325 (with tax) if I paid via credit/debit card. On 5/11, I attempted to pay with my debit card, however, when the individual attempted to charge my card, she was only able to get it to go through for $6.60. She claimed that it was because their credit card machine was new and that she hadn't figured out how to use it yet. This issue never arose again and I decided to just let it go. She then offered to drive me to the nearest bank. I attempted to withdraw $300 and the machine would only dispense $300. I offered her the $220 and she said, no, just give me the $200 and you keep the other money for you right now. On 5/14, I paid the remaining $100 remaining which my receipt shows which completed the payment of 5/11-5/17. Please note that I am not mentioning individual's names in my responses at the moment, but I will if requested by the Revdex.com.    I paid cash for 5/17-5/23. Yes, they did carry me for three weeks as I explained to them my cash flow problem caused by the local Hospice and hospital when I was staying with my mother prior to her passing. Although reluctant and semi-understanding, the owners agreed for me to sign a note (which they requested of me to write) stating what I owed and what I would pay on June, 3rd. One of the owners stopped by my room to take down my N.Y. State ID info and my phone number which she wrote on the note that I signed and which I was in full agreement to. This particular owner was a little more understanding of my situation. I paid them $900 cash on June, 3Rd which shows on my receipt to cover for 5/23-6/11; a combination of back rent and forward rent. To my surprise, during the last week of May, one of the owners knocked on my door and asked if I had anything to pay towards the balance. I kindly stated that I had already signed a note/agreement with them and that all would be paid on the 3Rd. The owner stated, "I have to pay my bills.". I said that I understood that, but I was a little taken aback after we had already agreed that they would carry me. As I was aware of the owners' reluctant nature in their patience towards the rent, I decided to pay the rent early on 6/10 ($300 cash) which my receipt shows covers me for 6/11-6/17. The night of 6/10 was the sixth night which had already been paid by my previous payment of $300. During the week of 6/11-6/17, I arrived home from town. The caretaker was standing outside and stated to me, "The owner called and said you owe her $25.". I stated that I was very surprised by this as I had just paid $300 for the week! So, I stated to the caretaker that I would ring the owner which I did straight away. The owner informed me that normally "Everyone pays $325 with tax.". I stated that when I moved in, she had stated to me that it was $300 if I paid in cash and $300+tax if I paid with the card. She responded saying that she was sorry, she forgot and that she would just keep it at the $300 if I continued to pay cash but "Don't tell anyone.". I said to her that of course I would not discuss with any other guests or anyone else what I am paying in rent. She said to this, "Alright, I understand your situation about your mother and that you are unemployed and seeking work, you are a wonderful customer!". Despite the owners' nature of being changeable and often even arguing and disagreeing with each other over their tenants, I felt comfortable with this conversation for the time being. However, at approximately 8:00pm on the evening of Tuesday June, 16Th, I received a knock at the door from the caretaker. He handed me the phone and said that the owner wanted to speak to me. For the life of me, I could not understand why the owners continuously called the caretaker's phone and requested him to come to me and hand it to me, because I provided the owners with my personal, cell phone number on several occasions. I took the phone from the caretaker and spoke with the owner. Shockingly, I was being told that I was not paid for that night, Tuesday June, 16Th! I was so distraught by this! I tried to discuss this rationally with the owner, but she simply asked me to hand the phone back to the caretaker which I did. She stated that she would be over to show me her books in a little while. So, as soon as I heard her arrive, I went over to the office. I remained calm and courteous, but the owner and her daughter were becoming belligerent. As stated in my previous complaint to the Revdex.com, the owners insisted that if I did not remove my belongings in 5 minutes, they were going to call the police. I returned to my room to contemplate and consult with some friends. The door to my room was open and as I was finishing up my phone calls, the owner's daughter and the caretaker were standing outside and asking if I was going to take my things off their property or if they were going to call the police. I decided to stand by what my receipt states and I said for them to call the police. Again, despite the dispute in the one night difference, the police should have never been brought into this situation, as by law, the owners should have filed a 30-day eviction notice if they had wished for me to vacate their premises as I became a long-term/month-to-month "tenant" at their establishment for over 30 days and I was paying a weekly rate in rent. The owner's avoidance of this law alone gives leave to their questionable business practices and ethics.    Please also allow me to reiterate that, on a different occasion one afternoon, the owner had called me into her office to show me her books. I showed her my receipts and we left it that I was paid through the night of 6/16 and that I would check out the morning of 6/17. There was also another guest in the office this particular afternoon who was also becoming disturbed at the owners argumentative demeanor as he was also compelled to return to his room to get his receipts! This occurred during the week of 6/11-6/17; another reason for my shock and dismay upon the scenario which occurred the evening of 6/16.    Looking forward to hearing from you again. Best Regards,

The guest was paying a weekly rate for an extended stay in town. We normally charge $325 per week but only charged him $300.00.  We even let him go for 3 weeks with no payment because we were sympathetic to his personal situation.  This misunderstanding occurred because the dates were...

incorrect  on the last statement he received.   He was billed for the correct amount of time but the dates were wrong.  His receipt said 6/11 to 6/16 when it should have said 6/10 to 6/15.  This error was made because he was a day late making his payment that week.  We feel we were very generous and understanding  with this guest.
