Inept Repair Staff, Tried To Break Into My Toolbox
When the power steering gearbox on my truck exploded while plowing snow, I had to have the truck towed. My normal service shop was too far to tow economically, so I decided to give Lakeville Towing a shot at repairing the truck, since they were only a few miles down the road from me.
They had the truck a total of four days. The owner kept referring to the gearbox as a power steering pump, and I reminded him those sell for about $80, not the $694 he was telling me. Seems like he didn't know what he was talking about.
The office was rather cagey. They had the office closed off from the customers and there were several people lazing around doing very little, if any, work.
When I finally got the truck back, I noticed that the steering wheel was turned 15° to the right when driving straight down the road. Lakeville said "it needs an alignment". My regular mechanic confirmed my suspicion: it was assembled with the column shaft turned by one spline tooth from where it should be.
I'm not really confident about the quality of the part they installed.
When I got home, I noticed one of the keys on my keyring that I'd given the shop to use, was broken off. The key was to my trailer hitch.
The next day, I discovered that I could not unlock my toolbox on the back of the truck--something was jammed in the lock cylinder. Remembering the broken key, it became evident that an employee tried to get into my toolbox and jammed the wrong key in there, got it stuck, panicked and broke the key off to attempt to hide the fact that he was trying to get into the toolbox. I also found out that they had drilled out all of the rivets holding the lock assembly to the toolbox and replaced with old bolts. This was a major headache for me to deal with, as I could not find a replacement lock cylinder that fit, and replacing the whole assembly, I had to return that because the new lock was so cheaply made that the provided key did not fit. So I was stuck with a broken lock.
My attempts to get a response from them fell on deaf ears. They did not compensate me for the damage to my toolbox lock, and they charged me almost $1700 for the tow + repairs to the steering system.
I should have just used Grand Prix Motors to tow to my regular shop in New Fairfield like they recommended. Turns out, didn't save that much on the tow and the repair was outrageous with all the upcharges on the invoice.
My advice is to avoid this shop. There are plenty of honest repair shops around.

This customer came in wanting his truck to be fixed the part that was needed was not available anywhere in the area as all shops close at 5 and after speaking to the customer he wanted us to do what ever it took to get his truck back on the road or his truck would be here until the next day. After a long period of time we were able to accommodate the customer however it was more than he had expected. He then threatened us with no payment for the time invested in repairing his trailer. He then called the police because he wanted his vehicle without paying for the parts and labor. The police of course sided with us until the customer paid. All forms were signed and prices were not hidden from the customer.

Absolutely awful service. They gave me an ETA to tow my car at 11am on 5-15-18. They didn’t show up. I called at 2. The owner answered and said the tow will be there soon. I waited an hour and called back. The owner said 29 more minutes. 59 minutes goes by I call again. They can’t get ahold of the driver. It’s now 4pm. I call the tow truck driver and he answers saying he will be there in 45 min. It’s 445. A tornado then hits our town. At 7pm the tow truck driver (no fault of his own) says he’s on his way. At midnight, he says he can’t makw it. So I call Lakeville towing today 5-16-18. The owner answered and I explain my frustration. He treats me like a child, says he couldn’t tow because of a tornado. I said that the tornado hit 6 hours after my car was scheduled for a tow. He yelled and screamed at me on the phone and hung up. Needless to say my car never got towed and I was cursed out by the owner. This company is awful. Please don’t rely on such a place when your time and safety means nothing to them. If you need your car towed, GO ELSEWHERE. This was NOT ok. I wish I could give less than 1 Star.

$576.60 to charge a battery for 10 min! Beware of this company. They gauged me on the price and then refused to give there Department of transportation ID number even though it is required by Law.

Lakeville Towing Response

Customer was well aware of the rates and filled out credit card authorization form and paid. He had a misunderstanding with rental company that he rents the truck from on the standard pricing on road services performed. The rental company whom he rents the vehicle from called in for the service and however customer was going to be reimbursed was between them we gave them a quote they paid and now have the problem. We filled our obligation of giving them the price providing the service and collecting payment with proper documentation.

Thank You

Repair on my *** Motorhome's fuel pump was not done properly and had to be redone by another repair service. In addition, the original repair because it was not done properly, resulted in damage to the fuel line to the generator that resulted in additional repairs and expense. They were the company my road side service uses for towing. The breakdown happened at the rest stop in ***. *** responded to the call and towed the Motorhome to their garage in B *T. They assured me they could do the repair. I did ask if they guaranteed their work- they assured me they could. The repair took 3 weeks to complete. They contacted me on Friday, May 5th and informed me that the motorhome was "All Set". My credit card was charged at this time. I told them I would be there on Sunday and would call when I was leaving NH as it was a 3.5 hour drive. I called them at 8:00 am and said we would be there at 11:30 am. We arrived at that time to find that the drive shaft had not been reinstalled and we had to wait over 1.5 hours for them to complete the job. Next time I used the motorhome and attempted to use the generator, it wouldn't start. That is when I discovered that the generator would not start. We had to call a local repair service to come to fix this. The repair person had to do the repair in a field. The repair involved dropping the full gas tank using car jacks, replacing all fuel lines and basically repeating the entire fuel pump repair except for the actual pump. ( repair except for 6 bolts). Another repairman had to be called in to assist as it was a 2 man job (especially out in a field). The repairmen also found 2 parts on top of the fuel tank left by ***, a large O ring and a clamp that was supposed to be attached to the vapor release on the fuel tank. My understanding is that without the proper vapor release, an overfilling of the gas tank could have resulted in a dangerous situation. In addition, upon further investigation, I researched that the fuel pump actually cost $436.00 with a suggested retail of $624.80. (Information of cost obtained from *** using ***). They charged $1.181.25 for this same part. They did call me to approve it's purchase- I did approve it as I did not have any options. I did state that I was at their mercy and hoped they had integrity to not take advantage of the situation. Tony C,, the manager, assured me that they had a great reputation and integrity. The entire repair cost $2,512.52 and had to be redone by another repair person. I feel VERY RIPPED OFF. I did contact them on June 6th in person to discuss this issue. While the receptionist, *** was very pleasant, *** was very confrontational and defensive. I showed him the parts and the receipt from the redone repair. He said "just leave them" and he'd take care of it. I had them take a pix of the parts and made a copy of the receipt. I also emailed them pictures taken by the repair person of the issue. I have contacted them multiple times by email with just one response, ***t and they would get back to me. That was over 3 weeks ago and I have heard nothing. I have tried to resolve this in a professional manner with no success. It also has come to my attention that
