Mission Home Remodeling

Mission Home Remodeling was contacted and hired by *** to complete home renovations such as, remove popcorn ceilings, painting, some drywall repair, laying tile, installing kitchen cabinets and more. The total cost of her project was $11,050. She had recently received money from an insurance claim and paid Mission Home Remodeling 2 payment installments, $4,500 and $2,000 to total $6,500 as of October 11, 2019. All work that had been completed up until this point for the amount she paid, was confirmed and agreed upon via text message that it was to Ms.' satisfaction.

I came to look at the completed work in person on November 27, 2019 to assure she was happy with everything. She took me through the house raving about what a great job they did and how pleased she was. Any issues that may have been a concern before were now fixed to her satisfaction. Upon leaving, Ms. hugged Scott, the project manager, and thanked him again. Ms. was told that work will commence on the next part of the project the week of December 9th and she agreed. Later that night she called to ask if the work could commence sooner, on the week of December 2nd instead. We had informed Ms. that due to several previous delays she had caused in the schedule that we were not able to get the workers back there until the week of December 9th. During the phone call I had with Ms., I suggested we could bring in a different subcontractor to begin work immediately the week of December 2nd. She agreed and said she would be available, so I contacted the subcontractor to come take a look at the home and the work left to complete. Ms., however, was not available for the subcontractor to come and claimed she was ill and needed to sleep. This went on for two days and in that time, as well as taking into consideration that we wanted to ensure the work would be completed quickly and efficiently, we decided Scott, the project manager, would complete the work himself. I informed her I will take Scott off every project to ensure that he and a helper will be at her home every day to complete the work and it would be done to her satisfaction and finished within the 4-5 week time frame she demanded. This was not acceptable for Ms. and she fired us and demanded a full refund of the completed work for $6500, plus $500 for her stress and inconvenience.

Any and all other claims she has made about us or our workers are false and an attempt to get a full refund. She has a history of extorting companies for full refunds or she threatens to bash them on social media and other online sites unless she receives immediate payment in full by the deadline she gives. This is what she has done to us and continues to disparage us, harass and taunt us, as well as harrass out of state family members of mine that she has looked up on ***. We had every intention on finishing Ms.' home remodeling project and tried to accommodate her over and over to get it done to her satisfaction. If she was unsatisfied with the work, we would have fixed it at no cost to her. The last time myself and our workers were on the property she was satisfied, and we were expecting to return to complete the rest of the job the week of December 9th. She fired us and instructed us not to complete the job or step foot on the property and demanded a refund of $7,000. She has agreed to us via text message that all work done up until this point has been completed and to her satisfaction, so we do not believe a full refund is in order. We wish she would have allowed us to finish the project and tried our best to accommodate her.

Based on her history, we feel she did not want the project finished and was setting us up to demand a full refund the entire time. Just before we started work for her she claimed the same scenario with Leaf Filter as she has with Mission Home Remodeling. She demanded a full refund from Leaf Filter plus the cost to have the gutters fixed by another contractor. She asked Scott, our project manager, to give her an estimate of what it would cost to fix the gutters. He gave her an estimate of $800. She turned that estimate into Leaf Filter and they awarded her a $1200 refund for the original work plus $800 to fix the gutters. Ms. informed Scott she was not going to have her gutters repaired at all. Mission Home Remodeling has not done any work on repairing Ms.' gutters, nor was the $800 estimate included in her project for $11,050. To our knowledge the gutters have still not been repaired and we now believe Ms. has the same intention on trying to get extra money out of our company as she was able to do with Leaf Filter. This case reported to the Revdex.com is just another attempt to threaten us and extort money from us, as she has done through many emails and texts.

Mission Home Remodeling still does not understand why *** is demanding a full refund for the work we did on her home. On the last day work was done on the property, November 27th, Ms. signed off and agreed to all work that had been completed to her satisfaction. We told her work would commence again to start on the tile the week of December 9th. She agreed via text to all of the above.

Later that day, she contacted us asking if we could start the week of December 2nd instead. We told her due to the 5 previous delays she had caused, we won't have the workers she desired available until December 9th. However, we tried to contact her to get a worker there on November 29th, but she never answered her phone. I also told her I could hire another subcontractor to start work on December 2nd. He could come by and meet her, look at the job, and we could get him started if she wanted to use him after meeting him. Ms. then delayed that meeting day after day, causing it never to happen. I told her despite that delay she caused again, we will get her job done before Christmas and I will take Scott, our project manager, off every other project to work on her house and her house only, along with another worker to complete it in the 4-5 weeks she demanded it be done. Scott and the workers had just finished up the painting, drywall, and texture at her house on November 27th, so we were taken a back when she demanded none of our workers will step foot on her property, and that we must refund her deposit in full of $6500 plus $500 for her undue stress and prep work she had done. Nothing was damaged or changed or was even done on the property from November 27th until she fired us on December 6th, so we did not understand what had changed since she had agreed everything was to her satisfaction. On December 6th she also demanded $7,000 by 2pm or she will bash us on social media and other online sites if we didn't pay.

We attempted to work everything out with Ms., stating we just wanted to help her complete her project by Christmas and simply wanted to complete the work she contracted us for. However, when we did not pay her $7,000 on demand, she began her internet assassination against us and continuously threatened to report us to the police and various government agencies if we didn't pay. She then stated numerous falsehoods about us online, claiming we are criminals, that we prey on the elderly and disabled, that myself, our project manager, and workers all have aliases we use to con people, which are all completely untrue accusations. ***

Ms. has not shown us any damage she claims we have done. The project was also not finished. We were under the impression we were returning to finish any work that was not completed, needed to be fixed, or to start on the next phase, which was to start the tile work.

She claims our workers showed up with "no tools of the trade" and she had to provide them everything, which is simply ridiculous. While the guys were working, she would bring them used paint rollers and step stools, and what not from her garage, that they did not need, but she insisted they use. If they used them, it was to be polite, as when they said no, they did not need it, she insisted they use it and became aggressive, so they took it. They had paint rollers. They did not need more. For her to offer them and then say they came unprepared and used her tools is so ridiculous, as they had paint rollers and tools with them. She would insist she was never going to use them again and please use the tools she had to make it easier on them. A new bench ladder had been purchased for Ms., as the one she insisted they use got drywall texture on it. It was ready to be returned to her house when we came back December 9th.

As for her filter vent she claims was damaged and needs to be replaced, replacing or painting these were not in the contract and not paid for by Ms., but she asked if he could paint them to make them look better. All of the vents were covered in dust and rust. Scott removed and cleaned the ones he could the best to his ability, but went to Ms. stating the one vent cannot come off, as to remove it would require drywall repair due to caulk sealing it shut around the vent. He could not remove it to clean off the dust and this particular vent had a great amount of rust on it. Ms. did not want to pay for additional drywall repair and said she didn't care and just paint it, which she was not charged for painting the vents. He did that as a courtesy at her request.

Our resolve has always been to finish and complete Ms.' home remodeling project. However, she still has $2,000 worth of material in her possession. While we would be happy to complete the project, we are not going to provide a full refund. She still has the $2,000 worth of materials and hasn't shown us any damages that she is unhappy about. She has, however, posted "before" pictures claiming the work had not been completed. These pictures were taking during the remodeling project and were not of the finished product. Any other unfinished work was going to be completed once we returned, but we were not given the opportunity to do so. If she would like us to finish, we would be happy to finish out the contract, however if she does not, she must understand that she has fired us and has paid for all materials and labor up to this point and no more monies are owed on either end. She has retained the remaining $4550 of the financial comment originally agreed upon of $11,050 and can use that money to finish her project with another company if she prefers.

Mission Home Remodeling does not know how we can resolve the issue with Ms., since she has created an issue that was never there to start with. We were in the middle of the remodeling project, took off for Thanksgiving, and planned on returning to finish the remaining work. The last day we were on the property was November 27, 2019 and Ms. not only agreed on text that everything up until that point was to her satisfaction, she also texted after we left stating again that we did a great job and clean up was awesome. Those texts were submitted for evidence. We were scheduled to return on Dec 9th to complete the job in a matter of weeks, finishing up just before Christmas, but Ms. fired us on Dec 6th demanding a refund of $7,000 which was more than the amount she paid us of $6,500.

Mission Home Remodeling completed the work and to her satisfaction, so we are not going to give her a refund. We had a replacement item for her bench stool she insisted we borrow that got tarnished during work, but we were not given the opportunity to bring it to her as she fired us and said not to set foot on her property ever again. She fired us, we did not leave, we did not damage anything in her home. Some things may not have been completed as we were under the impression we were returning after the Thanksgiving break and she agreed for us to complete any remaining work after the holiday.

This is all a scam Ms. has done to get out of paying for the remainder of the project and for her to attempt to get a full refund from us. Ms. would not even be entitled to $7,000, as she only paid us $6,500 and still has $2000 worth of material and tile in her possession along with the cost of labor and should not result in a complete refund. We had tried to resolve this with Ms. privately and she refuses saying she will only accept a refund of $7,000 or she will bash us on social media, which she continues to do every day, and has repeatedly claimed she will have us put in "prison" (Ms.' words) for our criminal actions. Her actions, claims, and words toward us have been defamatory, untrue and unwarranted. We have done nothing criminal and we have no "lengthy criminal past" or fake alias names, as she states. We simply wanted to help Ms. get her home completed. Our texts and emails we submitted prove this. She however has a past of doing this same thing to other companies, extorting refunds from them in exchange for stopping her internet assassinations on them. We included her texts to our project manager on how she scammed Leaf Filter the same way.

We don't understand why this is allowed to go back and forth when Ms. is not looking for a resolution, just a refund that is not deserved. She has not submitted to us any proof of any damages to her home and she has only posted pictures elsewhere online, not to us, of work that she claims is damage, but was actually taken during the remodeling project before completion. The one issue that she was unhappy with was fixed, cleaned and completed back in August of 2019, other than that she has not come to us with any complaints about the work completed on November 27th. She only tries to spread defamatory remarks about us, which are of course, untrue. Her only goal is to tear down our business as well as our personal character and put us in "prison" for not refunding her. We always had every intention of finishing her project to completion before Christmas, but she fired us, so we could not do so. We are not sure what else we can do at this point since she fired us, ending her contract to complete the work. If something was damaged from the previous work we had completed, we would have fixed it, but the last time we were on the property she said everything was to her satisfaction and fired us a week later before we could return. As much as we wish we could resolve this issue with Ms., we don't believe we can since she will not accept anything other than a full refund, plus $500. Mission Home Remodeling has completed the work so far to her satisfaction, as we were told by her, so we will not be providing a refund. This was never a legitimate complaint or review, but an attempt by Ms. to simply hurt our business for us not refunding her so she can recoup the money she spent and continue her insurance scam.
