ANSWER TO [redacted]
Mrs[redacted]'s husband instructed AA Auto Service & Repair to "tighten the clamps" on the goose-neck going to the gas tank and check the brakes due to noise he thought was coming from the front of the car
All clamps were as tight as possibleHowever, while checking for the noise, we discovered the front
brakes and rotors were bad, the idler arm and pitman arm needed to be replaced and the hub assembly on both sides needed to be replacedMr[redacted] was contacted by [redacted], our Director of Operations, who explained to him what we had found and how much it would cost to make these repairsMr[redacted] agreed that the repairs needed to be done
After the car had been picked up by Mr[redacted], he called with concerns regarding the brakes — they were hard to applyHe was advised at that time to drive it for a couple of days, hoping it would work itself outHe was also told that the brake booster was badHe brought the car back in and we replaced brake boosterAll work to this point had been done on the front of the vehicle
3. A few days later, Mr[redacted] called — the brakes were not working properly againWe asked him to bring the vehicle in, which he didWhen we put it on our lift, we discovered the rear brake cylinder was leaking on the driver's sideMr[redacted] was called and asked to come to our garage so that he could see the problem, located in the rear of the vehicle — we had only worked on the front of the vehicleHe asked us to fix this problem which we did at a cost of $When his wife came to pick up the vehicle, she was very angryMr[redacted], the owner of AA Auto Service & Repair tried to speak with her to no availHe finally told her to take her car and go without collecting the charge for the final repairs

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Please refer to the Message of the Business:

1. Mr. X did not ask for AA Auto Service & Repair to check the brakes. He did not know what type of noise it was.The business charged 27.30 for front pads, 58.07 for 2 rotors, 25.23 for an idler arm, 31.23 for a Pitman Arm Assembly, 168.12 for 2 Hub Assembly and 262.50 for labor. The total was 611.09.

2. AA Auto states that Mr. X was told the brake booster was bad. Why would a business return a vehicle to a customer that has a bad brake booster and is not repaired correctly? The brakes were not only  hard to apply, but very dangerous because the vehicle would not stop right away without pumping the brakes several times. The brake light came on when Mrs. X came home from her 40 mile work commute. She feared about not being able to stop and running into another car and hurting someone.
The cost this time was 175.58 for a brake booster which should have been noticed when AA Auto did the Safety check on 4/25/14.

3. Mr. X did not take the car back for the brakes this time, but to do the job that was supposed to be done in #1. Tighten the clamps on the goose-neck going to the fuel tank.  Why were the brakes not working again when a safety checklist was done by AA Auto on 4/25/14? They were checked off as working according to the safety checklist the customer has possession of. This time AA Auto Service & Repair was going to charge 109.70 for a leak in the rear brake cylinder. Mrs. X thought some injustice was happening with all these charges linked to the brakes that were checked off fine on the Safety checklist that was done on 4/25/14.
Mrs. X went to AA Auto Service & Repair to talk to them about all these charges and the safety issue she faced when coming back from a long work commute. Mrs. X spoke in a firm, upset voice asking the owner why his business did not take its work seriously. She said they have the lives of people in their hands and they need to be so careful about the safety of their customers. The owner of AA Auto Service & Repair gave Mrs. X the keys to her vehicle and walked out of the room while she still wanted to talk to him more about his responsibility to people and their lives. The Safety checklist that AA Auto Service & Repair has, is not a serious, valid measure of safety for vehicles if all these safety issues were not marked off on the inspection.

4. Mrs. X does have a 1996 vehicle, but it had been taken very good care of by her deceased father. Mrs. X needs to have a very good working vehicle for her long commute to her job everyday. She trusted AA Auto Service & Repair to make sure her vehicle was safe for her and others since she drives students to events sometimes. Regular maintenance has been done  on this vehicle since Tire [redacted] put new tires on it in October 2013 and they do check the brakes when they change the tires. There was no mention of it needing brakes or parts at that time. Mrs. X took it in for an oil change on 5/10/14 at Tire [redacted] after it had been fixed. Tire [redacted] check the brakes on all visits. They checked the brakes on the vehicle. Tire [redacted] state that "Brake work suggested, The brake pads on your vehicle measured 6MM or less. The condition does not warrant replacement at this time, but may in the near future. Please see associate for complete estimate. Front brakes@6MM." 10 MM means the brakes are in excellent shape/new. 6MM means that they are average/worn.  How can they be worn if they were just replaced by AA Auto Service & Repair on 4/23/14?? Mrs. X has this written statement if needed by Revdex.com.
AA Auto Service & Repair does not stand behind its work because 1) Tire [redacted] gives evidence that the brakes may have not been replaced by AA Auto Service & Repair 2) The front brakes and the Hub Assembly were checked off as working fine on the Safety Check/Inspection AA Auto Service & Repair did on 4/25/14. Written evidence of the Safety Check/Inspection done by AA Auto Service & Repair is available for Revdex.com to see. 3) A business standing by its work does not return a vehicle to customers knowing parts are "bad" like the brake booster which could have caused an accident and/or death of an innocent human being. 4) The ABS system was working fine on the vehicle until AA Auto Service & Repair worked on it. According to a specialist at Tire [redacted], the Hub Assembly has to do with ABS system which now does not work on the Blazer. The ABS light is on all the time and before it was not on. 5) A business that stands behind it work does not leave the brakes squeaking on a vehicle, when before the brakes did not squeak. 6) A business standing behind its work fixes what the customer says needs to be fixed, the clamps on the goose neck on the fuel tank. Mr. X thought this was fixed and he filled up the tank and the gas overflowed. The clamps were not fixed. The noise in #1 still persists. The noise is not gone!!!!  8)A business standing behind its work speaks to the client and tries to make things better and does not leave in the middle of a conversation to go to another room while the client is left there just standing. 9) A business standing behind its work does a safe, complete job and leaves the customer satisfied.    AA Auto Service & Repair has not mentioned any agreement to return $500 that was on a complaint written days after this one.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my claim.
I have not heard by AA Auto Service & Repair if the brake pads were changed or not. Tire [redacted] said they were worn. How expensive is it to get new brakes? $800.00??? There should not have been a second charge for the power brake booster since AA Auto supposedly had fixed the brakes. The car was barely drivable after we paid $611.09. We were told that after we drove the car a few days that the brakes would loosen up.... That never happened. Why did AA Auto not back up their work? You don't keep charging and charging customers on a job you were supposed to have fixed totally. I am not satisfied with how this was handled. Stand behind your work instead of dodging the issue!!!       I am tired of talking about all the things wrong with the "old" car. Was it okay to charge almost $800 for brakes? The ABS system light is on now. It wasn't before. The brakes should be in pristine condition after spending almost $800. I am very dissatisfied.
Regards,
[redacted]

No repairs were made to this vehicle without Mr. [redacted]’s approval.
Mr. [redacted] opted NOT to repair the gas leakage because it was too expensive, even
though he was advised that NOT repairing it is hazardous.
The vehicle is 18 years old, a 1996 [redacted].  When vehicles reach that age, things begin
to go wrong.
We repaired the rear brake cylinder at no cost to the customer even though the repair was
approved by Mr. [redacted] and a cost to AA Auto of $109.70.
