called on 6/27 to place an order for 18” shelves.  These shelves are normally a stocked item however due to the inclement weather that hit Louisiana, we experienced an increase in orders.  My Inside Sales Supervisor, Mark [redacted], spoke with my Regional Sales Manager Rich [redacted] who put Mr. [redacted] in touch with Mr. [redacted].  During the initial conversation, it was identified that we were short on the requested 18” shelves however we could process his order with 16” shelves, Mr. [redacted] accepted out proposal.   During the process of finalizing the order, some of those 16” shelves were sold.  When the order was processed, it was identified that we would be short 16” shelves and Mr. [redacted] contacted Mr. [redacted] to advise.  During that conversation, Mr. [redacted] was given 2 options;  1st option – we could process the order with 16” shelves and supplement the shortage with 14” shelves while giving Mr. [redacted] the price difference between the 16” shelves and 14” shelves or 2nd option – we could order the needed 16” shelves and put the entire order on hold until it could be shipped in full.  Mr. [redacted] expressed an urgent need for the shelving so as not to delay his stores upcoming inspection prior to opening.   For the inventory challenges, in addition to the price difference given (refund of $100 with the difference being $94.34), we also issued Mr. [redacted] a 2% discount totaling $104.99.  The issues resided in increased volume due to the weather in Louisiana and not necessarily with a freight claim, therefore freight concessions were not something that was considered.   Considering the challenges that this presented to not only Mr. [redacted] but SHOPCO USA, Inc., while I do not believe that a freight concession is warranted, to support our customer I am proposing that we issue a credit of $352.72 which is splitting the difference of the disputed amount.   Please advise when a decision is made so that we can execute.
