Review: On January 6, 2016, I was involved in a single-car accident in Montpelier Station, Virginia. My car was recovered by TNT Auto Sales & Towing after they were contacted by the Orange County Sheriff's Department. The following day, I made a phone call to the towing company to make arrangements to recover my belongings from the car and to arrange payment.

I was told someone would be present at the business location to help me remove my things from the car (which was on the bed of a tow truck). When I arrived, there was a sign posted on the front of the door of the TNT business office advising me that I should go to the garage instead. As far as I could tell, no one was at the garage either. A man was there with his car waiting for auto service; he told me he had an appointment to have his car worked on, but that no one seemed to be present.

After I located my vehicle and began to remove my belongings, I was greeted by an aggressive woman who emerged from the business office, asking why I did not knock on the door (even though the sign advised me to go to the garage instead). Several other TNT employees arrived soon after that, who chastised me for removing my things without speaking to them first (even though other paying customers were also unable to find them, and there were no employees in sight when I arrived, despite the fact that I had been told someone would meet me there).

At their insistence, I signed the car's title over to them and paid $375 to cover towing costs. This is a price I have since been told (by a friend who works in auto repair) is [redacted]

Given that I was being verbally harassed while trying to remove my belongings, I forgot to take my license plates. I called TNT several hours after leaving and requested that the plates be mailed to me. The person I spoke to assured me that they would be. I never received the plates. Several followup calls in the ensuing weeks were met with confusion and hostility, when they were answered at all.Desired Settlement: As a result of the plates not being returned, I was unable to cancel (and obtain a refund for) my [redacted] insurance policy.

I was able to receive a partial refund for my vehicle registration only two months later, by reporting the plates stolen. My initial effort to cancel the registration was unsuccessful due to the fact that I could not turn in the plates. I still don't know where the plates are, if they are still in the TNT lot, or if they have been illegally placed on another car.

The Virginia DMV issues refunds for registrations that are pro-rated based on every six-month period remaining on the registration. Had TNT done what they had promised and sent me the plates in a timely manner, I would have received a larger refund than I did.

Due to the above actual damages, and due to the thoroughly incompetent, hostile service I received as a customer of TNT, I am requesting a full refund of the $375 cash I paid to TNT. I will consider the car a loss.

Response:

Revdex.com spoke with a representative at the business to discuss this case. This customer's vehicle was towed to their location and at the time the customer removed his items from the vehicle. He contacted the business back and asked for his plates to be sent to him because they were not taken at the time the customer was at the location. The business is unable to mail the plates to the customer and it is the customers responsibility to gather his personal belongings at the time of the tow. The customer is still welcome to come get the plates but they will not be sent to him in the mail.

Review: Starting on 12/11/14. My truck needed and engine replaced with a used engine. After 3 weeks, my truck was ready to pick up (after a test drive with no issues). I paid over $2000.00 for a working used engine to be installed on 12/30/14. On 12/31/14, I drove 20+ mile to pick up my truck. after driving 1/2 mile from TNT. the check engine light came on and also with transmission issues. The truck was return to TNT to be repaired (it was suggusted by owner to drive with check engine light on for a couple of days to see if check engine light would go off). On 1/6/15, truck had been repaired with test drive (with no issues). Truck was driven 1/2 mile again and check engine light came on. Truck was return to TNT (it was suggusted by owner to drive with check engine light on for a couple of days to see if check engine light would go off). Truck was driven to another garage to be be checked out. On 1/9/15, It was discovered the crank shaft sensor was 90 degrees off sync. An d comments were made about quailty of work.Desired Settlement: I had called TNT, to let them know what happen and suggested I be refunded $303.02 (cost of getting truck repaired). My response was " I'm not paying for someonelse's work."
