I just had my 29 year old asphalt shingle roof replaced with beautiful, clean, aluminum interlocking shingles. Michael and Derek were amazing in working with my insurance company to make it an affordable project! The guys that did the work really knew what they were doing and worked very hard. Everyone with True Home was friendly and respectful. Derek has been a pleasure to work with and always punctually responsive.

Yes they overcharged me on the composition shingle roof $48,000 is just a little bit too much for a roof and they also want more money now, Along with threatening and harassing me.
Let me start off by saying this transaction has been challenging from the beginning. The customer thought the mortgage was going to try and scam her and we spoke about this at length when her PM (Derek) informed me that she was getting concerning.
I say this to set the stage that I am positive there is confusion as to what was said, but not any confusion as to what was signed. I have attached the original Color Selection (contract). I have also attached the Revised Scope of Work. (This is an insurance claim).
Yes, they paid for cedar shake and we offered to install an aluminum roof for the client. She didn't want that and asked for shingles. She didn't obviously know what she was asking for because in order to install asphalt shingles where it was cedar (with spaced decking) you must install min. 1/2" plywood throughout. Not inexpensive. Then, we upgraded her shingles to a Certainteed Solaris, which is a large upgrade also. These two factors do correct the difference in pricing between a cedar shake R&R (Paid for by insurance) and a Cedar tear off and board up with Asphalt install (What was contracted for). In fact, no harassment has been made. She may feel that way because we are attempting to collect what we are contracted for. There have been no threats made. I did tell her that she would be hearing from our attorney as I will be starting the lien process and filing for judgment to collect what we are owed. This statement was made after numerous attempts to explain the situation, but it never took.
In closing there are a couple complaints that the client has:
1.) Debris from tear off in attic. (We asked the insurance to pay to clean it out, per her request, and we were denied.)
2.) We replaced the ventilation (cedar shake style / original) and upgraded to a ridge vent. She feels that hot air is blowing into the home because of that.
I offered to personally come and make sure things as it relates to ventilation were functioning properly and if not would make repair. I too, told her that I would check to see the condition of the attic space and if it wasn't to bad we would find a way to help. The caveat was that she be willing to make the final payment less a 5% hold back to ensure that I made good on the promise to fix anything I found. In our state that is proper.
We agreed. Her quote: " I will just pay you to get you people out my hair." Than made an appointment 5.19.2020 but on 5.18 I received a text letting me know that I didn't have to come to the house unless: "So don't bother coming out here to collect money unless you are prepared to bring a check for $13,111.41 that you owe me. ***"
At that point, and again after much back and forth between the PM, her and I, offering to help issues that weren't brought up till it was time to collect, I brought up the next steps that we as a company must take to collect.
I tell you all this to show the immense back and forth and our willingness to help this client. I'm not sure you can make all people happy. My above offer stands and will not move to lien etc if:
1.) She pays what she is contracted for
2.) I will correct any reasonable issues that she is having as it relates to the install

We needed our home re-roofed. We found this company via Home Advisor, and cannot say ANYTHING negative about them!! They helped us with identifying what needed to be done, they walked us through the various options, they were on time, always professional and responsive to anything we desired. They kept us up to date with their progress, coordinated with our solar voltaic company for removal and reinstallation, and followed up with a visit after their work completion to insure we were satisfied with everything. We had a small tornado run through our neighborhood last November which caused some havoc.Tearing one neighbor's tree right out from the roots ! Our home had a beautiful 50ft tree that lost about 20 ft from its top. Now the real problem was that tree top fell right on our roof. It was Roman and his crew who we LUCKILY contacted to assist us. Right away Roman worked closely with our insurance provider to make sure we could get OUR insurance coverage to help with the repair. With Roman's help we were able to get a whole new roof placed ! True Home Hawaii truly exceeded our expectations! The True Home Hawaii team is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and experienced! They came out to our home within 24 hours of our initial contact, examined the damage to our large, tiled roof and skylights, installed a tarp to prevent more water damage, and assisted us in calling our homeowner’s insurance company to report the damage. Within the week, True Home Hawaii communicated directly via email and phone calls with our insurance company, provided estimates, received approval to have our roof and interior surroundings repaired, and completed the repairs. We were even more thrilled the following week, when we received two checks from our insurance company that covered the complete cost of the repairs!
My only regret was not calling True Home Hawaii sooner! I highly recommend True Home Hawaii to anyone who is contemplating having his or her roof repaired or replaced. I know we will definitely be contacting True Home Hawaii again should we ever need a professional, timely, and affordable roof repair. :-)

True Home Hawaii and its owner, Michael C, replaced the roof of our home and coordinated with a companion company (***) to replace our gutters. From start to finish the work was done professionally and in a timely manner. Because of my lack of familiarity with the roofing product, Michael arranged two meetings with the roof manufacturer's representative. I was pleased with their attention to my questions on the product and its installation and we agreed to have True Home Hawaii do the job. When the materials were available, the True Home Hawaii crew showed up early, well equipped, and ready to work. The crew chief and crew members were courteous and hard-working and left the premises clean and orderly at the end of each day. The crew chief patiently answered the various questions I had on the product and installation. The work was completed in a timely manner.
To me, one of the very important qualities of a good company is their follow-up on any issues that may arise after the job is done and the company has been paid. As it turned out, we had a couple of minor issues in a small section of the gutter where the new gutter interfaced with the new roof. Michael personally provided the interface with the gutter company which sent a crew to my home and eliminated the issues very timely. True Home Hawaii is a quality company with a strong work ethic and pride in their work. I strongly recommend True Home Hawaii for anyone's roofing needs. And I recommend *** for any gutter work.

My home experienced some wind and rain damage from recent storms. What a relief it was when Roman and his team came to our rescue. From meeting with the insurance company to follow up emails and text messages Roman was there. He made something that seemed endless a HUGE success. True Home Hawaii was awesome! Chris met with our insurance adjuster and my wind damage repair was approved in less than a week.
I had a total roof replacement, estimated at $24K, done for the deductible amount of $500. I had my doubts about something "Too good to be true", but it all worked out to my benefit. I had 25 solar PV panels and a solar water heating panel to be removed/replaced for the roofing to be done.
Everything was done in 4 days as promised. They cleaned up very well. As we all know a tear-off and re-roof project is very messy with paper, roofing and nails flying all over the place. They went around my house at least twice and even went to both neighbor's yards to clean up. I had no complaints from anyone!
Chris and Paul were very knowledgeable and courteous throughout. The job was perfect! Thank you very much.

I had my roof done by True Home. It took 4 weeks instead of 1-2 weeks as promised. I purchased the inter-locking metal roofing brown slate. It's a great product. The roofers are mediocre in skill and quality of work. The removal was fast, but installation was slow. Nails and debris was left all over the property during the removal of the old shingles.
I would not recommend this roofers.
To the Public and Mr.,
I am the RME and owner / operator of True Home Hawaii. I personally was on site 5 times quality controlling the install process. The manufacturer's representative was also on site three times assisting in technical specifications. I personally assisted in the remake of the front elevation and organized the redo of both skylight flashing, twice, as the current domes were non serviceable. This is my job and I am glad to make sure that all our projects meet multiple levels of quality control.
I did meet with Mr. the day this review was reported. We walked the grounds and spoke about contractual "grey areas" that the client was unclear about. We have financially settled and provided the customer a substantial discount based on the "grey areas" and my largest frustration which was the client wanted to install his own solar brackets while we were roofing. Of course, clients wish to minimize their out of pocket so I chalked it up to that, but still never in my years of roofing wish to see a client on their roof. That's why they hire professionals. That is why I gave the credit.
Otherwise, to speak about the review, the delay in time, is that we are on an island. The timelines were communicated while things changed. When materials are special order and are not able to be returned we order pretty tight when we submit the order. If a wrong cut is made we must reorder the material. We paid over $500 in rush shipping so that we could complete the project and not wait the 4-6 weeks the product takes to be made and delivered. Again, our jobs and glad to do it. Clean up of the grounds is always a bear as small cuts and nails find their way into bushes and all around. Roofing is a messy business. I wish the client were to give us the chance to take care of him prior to the complaint but prerogative of the client of course. Lastly, the install looks beautiful and will not leak. We guarantee it for 7 years which is the max that Hawaii will allow. Otherwise, we would offer more.
It is our mission to have happy customers, even when things go sideways and in construction they do. I write this response with an open mind to know that not all things will not go to plan and it's how we handle it that will define us as a company. I hope that Mr. is satisfied with his new roof and we will be there for him if and when any issues arise.
I publicly apologize and take fault for all intersections that Mr. is dissatisfied with. Like I told him at the site when we shook hands, I will continue to strengthen the company based on this report.
