Treatment? Great. Billing practices? Lol
I have zero complaints about my provider or the services rendered. It was all great in that regard. My anesthesiologist, Dr. Thompson did everything to make me comfortable and feel like my dignity was being respected.

My concern is with billing. I began receiving a bill for over $700 from USAP after the carrier denied the claim. The carrier says USAP indicated I had alternate coverage through a spouse or had secondary coverage. Neither of those things is true since I’ve been divorced for over a decade and have never had secondary coverage.

USAP never took a single step to resubmit this claim to the carrier updating/correcting this error. Instead they just billed me directly. I contacted the carrier and corrected the problem myself. The carrier subsequently paid the claim. All good, right? Nope. Still getting billed for what USAP had already (by my efforts) been paid.

I contacted USAP billing department. I explained the situation at which point I was asked to send in the EOBs…because I guess it’s a patient’s job to supply what is readily available to the provider’s office if they would just check. I sent them to [email protected] as requested. A couple of weeks later I was still getting bills but now it was a new and arbitrary amount that was roughly $40 less than what I was being billed for. I was still being hounded for over $700 I don’t owe.

I sent another email with the same documentation and request to correct the records and stop billing me. All done, right? Nope!

Still getting the same bill.

As an individual who has prior work experience as the operations and billing manager for a diagnostic testing company and prior experience as a private billing and coding consultant, I can confidently say this is at best inattention and buck-passing. At worst, it’s an effort to use a patient’s assumed ignorance of the process to double dip.

I don’t normally leave reviews like this but I’ve already gone through the reasonable channels.
