Review: To whom it may concern, My name is [redacted], and approximately one month ago, I spoke with Mr. Swift about replacing the carpet on my boat. He advised that the parts would be around $300 and the labor would be $1,700. for a grand total of $2,000.00. Since this is an older boat, I didn't wanna spend that much money, Mr. Swift advised me of a cheaper alternative. He quoted me $200 per section of the boat, and there are 3 sections, for a total of $600. That seemed like a fair price and I advised him to do the work at the discussed price. He also advised that since the type of material that was to be used needed to be mixed and it would be cost effective to both of us if he went ahead and did the whole boat, and said it was ok to make payments. A few days later, Mr swift called me insisting that he needed space on the lot for boats that had been brought in to be winterized. I made seperate trips to the marina to discuss payments and pick up boat. His assistant was of no help and my boat was buried behind 3 other boats with the cover half off, and the drain plug still in. Two days later, while at dinner with my family, Mr swift called demanding payment. But I had been down to his shop on two separate occasions to try and resolve this. I asked for a receipt of the work done, and he sends me a ticket for $1300 . When I call to ask him about the charges, his response was "I didn't call to get authorization to finish the work because I figured since I already started the work, that you wouldn't want me to stop. In my eyes, that is absolutely unacceptable. Frustrated and not knowing what to do about the situation, I made a payment to him of $400, and he is not releasing my boat until the full ticket is paid.Desired Settlement: I was quoted $600 for the job and when I received a bill that was more than double the quoted price, that is not right. And now he is holding my boat until I pay for the work that I didnt agree to for the price. Please help.
