We did install a new roof and gutters for Mr. [redacted] in the spring of 2009. Mr. [redacted]'s daughter in law [redacted] called us in February 2014 and said there was a leak around a dining room window and also over the patio door in the dinette which occurred on November 17, 2013. On that day we had severe...

weather with heavy rain and strong winds. I stopped out at the [redacted]'s house shortly after the call to investgate the problem. After looking around I could not ascertain exactly where the leaking was originating. The roof was intact with no shingles missing. There was a section of wall flashing that was lifted but only slightly - maybe 1/2 inch to maybe 3/4 inch in one area. I told Mrs. [redacted] that the flashing was lifted slightly, however it is very unlikely this was the source of the problem as water does not run up hill. More likely the wind driven rain had gotten in behind the aluminum siding and leaked into the wall eventually showing up around the window trim. The house was constructed without proper house wrap but only a foam substrate over the studs.  I asked Mrs. [redacted] to give me a call if the problem occurred again and also told her we would water test the area with a garden hose. Because this was February a hose test was not possible at the time of the visit.Mrs. [redacted] finally called in mid-September 2014 and admitted the area had NOT leaked since November 17, 2013 however she wanted the flashing nailed down and the water test done before the coming winter. I told her we would come out on a weekend and she should give us a call when she was home and available. I did make it out to the [redacted]'s home on November 10, 2014 and performed the water test using the garden hose. The leak did NOT occur despite spraying several gallons of high pressure water to the roof and lifted flashing. I then proceeded to nail down the flashing and also installed a couple pieces of sheet metal behind the siding on the area over the dinette to hopefully help with that problem. In conclusion, the roof did not leak because of the roof we installed or lifted flashing but it is more likely the leak occurred from driving rain getting behind the siding. The house was built without proper house wrap behind the siding and was left vulnerable by the builders.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Well I was going to accept BUT I can not accept what you stated.  [redacted] called on 11/18/2013 about leak again on 11/20/13.  11/21/13 [redacted] returned my call to say he would be out on Sunday between 330 -4 pm. On that date you did not show, so I called you later that night find out your [redacted] job ran late and you couldn't call to let us know. Then on 11/16 and 12/2 called and left messages for Russ to see when you could come out again.  12/5/2013 talked with [redacted] and said he would be out on Monday or he will call us. 12/9/2013 [redacted] again did not show nor call, so I again called later that night to see what happened, he ended up texting me the next morning.  Finally on 12/10/2013 [redacted] arrived to look at what was going on (outside and inside of house) Once roof was clear of snow he would come out and nail down flashing and seal. Come spring water test it for he feels it is running down the siding.  I stated I had 3 guys come out and look at it and they all said the flashing is not sealed correctly.  [redacted] said In regards to drywall, not sure if they will repair it/cover cost. I said they should if t is due to the flashing.  So spring came and we were busy due to some medical issues, so I didn't call until Aug. or Sept. for [redacted] to come out and water test it, he said they were busy and I should water test it. So I continued to call a few more times to get him out here with no results so I went to Revdex.com to file a complaint and low and behold [redacted] shows up on November 10th to water test and fix it when my husband was home asked if we had any issues since the first time, my husband said no BUT it happened on November 1st in to the 2nd when we had some hard blowing rain again.SO I am glad he came out to finally fix it but I don't feel we should have kept tabs for him to come out.  As a business no matter how busy you are, you are there to please the customer, stand by your work and honor the warranty.  As for stating the house was wrapped wrong...I find that hard to believe because this house has never had a problem before with leakage until the roof got replaced and how would you see that if you are only doing the roof.  Also I feel you reused the flashing since it had so many holes that were visible and for it to lift up.  And if you noticed my name is [redacted] NOT [redacted], pay attention to your customers and listen to them, don't always be in a hurry because you are to busy.So after saying all that I ACCEPT.  I just needed to say my side of the story that I documented down for reasons like this.
Regards,
[redacted]

After hearing many horror stories from friends and family about roofing projects going awry, I decided to only choose those listed on the Revdex.com website, so I could feel confident that I was making a good choice. I could not have been more wrong. I have had the great misfortune of losing a great deal of time and money with 1-800-Rite Roof. The contractor, [redacted] (absolutely deplorable) , promptly came and gave a quote and urged us to book immediately, as "jobs are filling up fast." He stated in June that he could get the job done in July if we signed up right away. July came and went with no call of explanation or apology. I called him and he claimed he didn't have my number and stated the first week in August our roof would be done. This pattern of lying ("we have one job ahead of yours that we are finishing, and then we'll get to you.") continued for months. They did a sloppy job, killed my grass and left shingles everywhere. Am I confident that I will be able to contact them if I need further work done under warranty? Not one bit. Stay far, far away from this company!!! You can find much cheaper, friendlier and more honest businesses elsewhere

We had 1800riteroof replace our roof including adding insulation to our attic. The work was done April or May of 2014. They did an excellent job on their workmanship and cleaning up. I was very concerned of nails being left in my yard. I had 3 young kids to worry about. I searched very hard after they were done with the job. I only found ONE nail that had landed in one of my plants. None of my landscaping was damaged during the process either. I've been recommending this company ever since.

Review: 1800 Rite Roof has failed to honor my contract, they replaced my roof in December 2013 and have been called and e-mailed to come out and complete the contract which calls for them to clean up the roofing nails and materials (old Shingles) that still litter my property. I have called and talked to [redacted] and was told they would be out here with-in 2 weeks ,this call was made on Monday march 24th 2014, I then e-mailed him on the 9yh of April demanding for a answer to a date and time they would arrive giving him 24 hours to respond, he has failed to respond. This looks like a company that once the money is in hand fails to care about the client.Desired Settlement: Come out and clean up my property or give me a money amount to hire someone who will complete the work.

Response:

Mr [redacted] had filed a complaint because he was unhappy we were not able to make it over to his house to clean the yard after a winter roofing project. We informed the homeowner that we wold be delayed because f the long winter. This has since been taken care of back in late April and should be a closed matter.

Review: Rite Roof installed a new roof for me on 2/21/2009. On 11/18/2013 a window started to leak in the formal dining room. Thought it was a window issue but is NOT (window company came out within 2-3 days of calling them and confirmed it was not the window). Upon further investigation of removing trim for window guy there has been mold growing due to the leak probably going on for some time but recently got worse due to icy winter we had this past year. My daughter-in-law has contacted the owner on multiple occasions last year and again recently to get the flashing corrected because you can see the flashing raised up from the roof and nails sticking out. He had stated he would come out to fix it and that it is going to be longer for him to drive out here then it was going to take to fix it. Well if you are a company that stands by there work that would not be an issue and it is under warranty. He had said twice that he would come out on a Sunday to fix and never showed. He also stated that there were others that had called about this issue but he can not see how the rain would get up under it. My daughter-in-law told him we live in the country with open land and can get very windy so she can see the rain getting under it. He also wanted us to test it with spraying water from the hose at it and seeing what it does. We feel that is there job since the window guy came out and did his own testing to declare it is from the roof. So we are still waiting for them to fix it and I was hoping going this way I could get it resolved before it does more damage than it already has (mold to dry wall).Desired Settlement: Coming out and correcting issue and actually paying for the repair to the drywall also.
