2007 Travel Supreme Envoy RV brought 8/3/15 for lights not working except for flashers and to rewire satellite. Note on work order says my husband asked them to do unless very expensive. We never received an estimate and my husband called several times to check on progress. It was ready on 10/1/15. The original bill was 8,993, which was discounted because my husband was so shocked to $8181.71. We were charged $130.75 an hour for labor. 62% of total was labor for such acts as contacting Entegra Coach for part numbers, which I do not feel is considered labor. We have had 4 RVs and no RV dealer has ever charged this much for labor or for such actions. My husband and I were not prepared in any way for this exorbitant expense. I had to transfer money from my savings because it was cheaper if we did not use a credit card. On 10/2/15 we took the RV to an LSU. On the way, the headlights, running lights, and backlights went out, stranding us on the side of the road in the dark.
On Monday, 10/5/15, I called [redacted]'s and [redacted] said he did not have on the work order to fix the lights. However, our invoice #00034012 clearly states under complaint: signal lights inop & headlamps inop. Under Correction: it again says head lights not working. Running down circuit to find problems. [redacted] wanted us to bring the RV back, saying that if it was related to what he worked on, there would be no additional cost, but otherwise there could be more cost. My husband feels like a fool, and he does not want to give them the opportunity to take advantage of us again. We received no estimate for services. We were charged over $8,000, 62% labor, and the problem was not fixed.I feel that we were overcharged for labor. I also feel that we should have been not only provided an estimate, we should have been informed as the cost rose considering my husband specifically told them to do work only unless it was very expensive. Additionally, the main reason we brought it to [redacted]'s was for the headlights and steering column because they work on Spartan Chassis. Otherwise we would have brought it to one of our other RV repair places that have always treated us fairly. The headlights are not working. The RV still has the same main issue and I don't trust [redacted]'s to fix it. I also wanted to make this complaint because it worries me that this could be done to a older couple or a young family that would not have had the money in savings. Estimates should be given. Customers should be called and informed as the costs rise to such expensive amounts. I want to be sure that another couple does not have to experience this feeling of being ripped off and have endure a financial hardship such as this.
