Review: I took my car to the shop back in mid January for my engine to be rebuilt. Shop was referred to me by a friend who had vehicle stored there and was having repairs done why'll on a one year deployment. [redacted] inspected my car told me it would be $2,500.00 dollars to start the engine rebuild. I paid him $500.00 to purchase new parts in place of old damage parts to properly diagnosis the problem. After the extent of the diagnosed damaged was determined I took him the remaining balanced. [redacted] has received $3,400.00 from me since he has had my vehicle and hasn't been able to provide me with my vehicle. I have called several times to get status and he has only called me only a handful times since he has had my vehicle there since January. I have got several excuse of why mine as well as my friends car has not been done. He always states the car is in the machine shop. When asked where the machine shop is so that I may check on the status of my engine he refuses to give me information. He has also refused to give me a proper itemized receipt stating what costs are on parts and worked performed. I also had body work done why'll vehicle has been in the shop which I was quoted $700.00 He paid the $700.00 out of what I had paid him but is trying to double charge me $200.00 body kit insulation that was already paid in the $700.00 to the body shop guys. Since all this I still do not have my vehicle and out the money already paid for repairs plus Insurance costs on a vehicle that I can not even drive.Desired Settlement: Want a complete refund of all money paid minus the $700.00 already paid to body shop and costs for damages due to insurance cost on a vehicle I can not drive and register because its not in running condition to smog for new Registration. Registration cost is $162.00 including late registration costs and insurance is $309.00 total of $ 471.00 in damages.

I, [redacted], owner of 101 performance received [redacted] vehicle, a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS, on January 19, 2013. She had her vehicle towed into my establishment because it would not start and was having over heating issues. My shop fixed these problems by checking the vehicles timing belt. The timing belt was broken due to a broken water pump. These new parts were installed on January 21, 2013 only to find that the vehicle still would not start. We then performed a cylinder leak down and compression test on the vehicle, resulting in cylinders 1-4 having 100% cylinder leaks. Compression test scores were 50 psi for cylinders 1-4; we then received a payment of $400 on January 26, 2013. This payment covered a timing belt, water pump, fluids, and the leak down and compression test.

One month later, February 23, 2013 the customer approved removal of a cylinder head and machine work, due to bent valves from the timing belt breaking. On this day she also made a payment of $400. The $400 covered the removal of her cylinder head and machine shop fees.

It was not until I had the vehicle in my possession for two months that the customer then decided to ask for an engine rebuild to begin. The arrangement was made final with a payment of $2,000 after being quoted the estimate of $2,500 for the rebuild of the bottom end only on March 16, 2013, there was never a completion date expressed. The customer also approved the engine to be removed, due to overheating and low cylinder pressure. Then the customer requested to have her current engine converted to a full custom race engine with Wiesco turbo pistons, Eagle H-beam racing rods, ACL racing bearings, polished crank shaft, factory OEM oil pump, and Cometic racings gasket. Another payment of $500 was received on March 30, 2013. After payment for parts was received the parts were ordered. All parts, being specialized, took 6-8 weeks to arrive. Once the parts had arrived on June 4, 2013 it was soon discovered that the parts were in fact, the wrong parts for her engine. The customer was informed of the mistake and the new and correct parts were ordered. These correct second set of parts arrived to the shop on June 12, 2013 where they were then immediately sent to the machine shop. The parts were at the machine shop being customized while in line with their other customers for one month. We received the parts back from the machine shop on July 12, 2013.

During this waiting period the customer requested a full aero dynamic body kit installation, the body kit was supplied by the customer on June 6, 2013. On this same day the customer requested the fiberglass body kit to be molded to the body of the car and all on other dents and dings to be repaired. No payments were or have been received for this service. On June 20, 2013, the customer requested that the vehicle be primered one solid color. The vehicle was painted on June 22, 2013.

Once the parts were received back from the machine shop on July 12, 2013 the block needed to be cleaned before assembly could begin along with engine blueprinting, clearances, modifications, and once there were finished the engine was ready to be assembled. Assembly began on July 26, 2013. Book time for this assembly od 33 hours, due to being understaffed and the high volume of vehicles in and out of the shop it has taken us a month to complete this engine rebuild. The rebuild was completed on September 30, 2013 and will be ready for pick up on October 5, 2013. However, the customer does have a remaining balance of $1373.21. This last payment will need to be paid in full by October 8, 2013 or there will be a $65 per day storage fee added to the customer remaining balance.
