Complaint[redacted] Project started in June and by mid-August, with 40% of the work completed, we had to have a meeting with the contractor to discuss issues and to determine if project would proceed with this contractor based the problems to date.Throughout the project, issues with quality of work were raised. Improper ordering of windows resulted in wrong sized windows delivered. Contractor decided to install windows in an opening that was too small. This compromised the structural integrity of the house, as the proper supports were not used. Also, the contractor ignored requests by the homeowner to follow manufacturers installation of doors and windows for the climate zone. Contractor refused to use appropriate tool to install [redacted] siding. This resulted in [redacted] being not square after install. We had to provide tool and demand that he use it so that the siding was installed correctly.Electrical wiring completed by unqualified individuals and no permit.The bathroom window was to be framed and clad in metal so that the window could open freely. The contractor ignored this request and as a result the seal on the window has been damaged and operation of the window is restricted. The problems with workmanship, defects in work completed, improper ordering and installation of front windows- windows not level or square, due to improper sizing of windows, installation was forced and impacted structural integrity of house[redacted] siding not square led to deterioration in the working relationship that brought about the decision to fire the contractor.Desired SettlementNegotiated settlement of moneys owing to contractor given poor quality workmanship, defects and project not being complete, as well as consideration for the possibility of warranty and no relationship with contractor to return to fix any defects. Lien on property removed and a binding legal agreement releasing both parties from any further claim against each other.Business Response From the beginning of this job, there were issues with this homeowner. We tried everything we could to ensure his satisfaction, including, but not limited to the following: Fielding multiple phone calls each day, and face to face meetings where the homeowner questioned and second guessed the personal opinion of the professional with 15 years experience. We went against our expertise in order to make the homeowner happy. Everything done to the homeowner's home was agreed upon with the client and nothing was done that he did not consent to. Client refused to pay the verbally agreed upon deposits, and finally refused to pay the final invoice when the work was complete. The client never fired us. After many attempts to come to an agreement over the phone, and having the client back out, a lien was registered on his home, which resulted in threats of him taking legal action. Desired resolution has been talked about with our client and with our lawyer. Client has verbally agreed to the resolution 2 times. [redacted]
