Review: I went to 106st Tire shop after seeing an ad posted on [redacted] for a wheel alignment. I called 106st Tire shop and confirmed the price for a wheel alignment, they said $45 for a four wheel alignment, I went Saturday morning April [redacted]. The specialist who could not speak english which made me nervous and also constantly asked for help from another person to put these devices on my wheel, in the process my car rolled forward and could of fell of the lift but another specialist stopped it. Finally a specialist that spoke english took over. Upon the process of my alignment he began on my front left wheel. He came to a conclusion that my lower control arms were bad and I needed to replace all of them. Also that I could go to the office and they will give me a quote. I came back the next day Sunday April [redacted] for a quote. I was quoted $400 for installation and parts which are from Napa. I found that very ridiculous and believed this is the way they can have such a low price for an alignment. I got the job done elsewhere the following week and went back to them saturday night after calling to find out there business hours. Which they said they close at 3am. When I went the tire guy could not speak english and the office was locked. Another employee came out and spoke to me in english. and said that. They can not do an alignment because I got it installed somewhere else and I have to pay for a new alignment. I was very angry I drove all the way there just to hear that. He told me call tomorrow and ask for [redacted]. I called and someone who could barely speak english answered and said he was not there call monday. I called a hour later and he said he will be in at 3pm. I called several other times during the week and anyone that picked up said that he is not in. I finally decided to go in on Saturday May [redacted]. I met someone in the office I did not ask his name but I told him my issue I am facing. He told me that I changed the part outside the store so they can not do the alignment again. He said its on the paper. I told him this is all the document you all gave me. I have a yellow receipt a business card with the name [redacted] on it and another receipt cash register style. He said no its a white paper. I said I did not get any, so he printed it and then left the office. Came back in about 10 mins. When he comes back he then says that here its in the fine print. I believe this store is scamming a lot of people into work and I am probably not the first person this has happened to. I felt that no alignment was done and they kept that paper just to make a easy $45 from me. I work hard for my money and I feel that they just want to take peoples money this way. Also I believe that almost everyone in there is working illegally and not safely. Now I have to find a trusting business to get an alignment and spend the normal $100.Desired Settlement: I would like this store to have a notice that lets customers know they're alignment service is only guaranteed if they need to replace parts at this location and not outside of it. I believe that this business is unfair and are taking money from people and not giving them the service they expected.

Review: On Apr [redacted], I had a brand new set of lower control arms (LCA's) and spc adjustable toe arms installed on my 2010 Forester XT, by a well respected certified mechanic in my neighborhood.

Being a Sunday my regular alignment shop (GTX) was closed so I went to 106tire for an alignment.

The tech at 106tire did not tighten 6 of the 8 locknuts on my rear Toe Arms and Lower Control Arms, plus used the wrong tools to adjust, damaging the LCA's to the point that they have to be replaced. 106tire refunded me the cost of alignment but told me "because 'I' saw their tech using the wrong tool, and let him(?!) that they were not responsible for the damage, and won't replace, the parts."

Why this is serious:

On my vehicle's rear suspension the wheels, are kept on the vehicle at the hub by three components per side: Upper Control Arms, Lower Control Arms, and Toe Arms.

In my case the alignment is achieved by adjusting the Lower Control Arms and the Toe Arms, and then locking them in place with a series of lock nuts (2 per arm, 8 nuts in total).

Because of 106tire's negligence and the fact that only 2 of the 8 locknuts were tightened, the threads on the Lower Control Arms were permanently damaged making it impossible to align my car now, not to mention that I could have had one or both of my rear wheels come off of my car while driving. At highway speeds that could have proved peerless to me, my family and other motorist.

I let 106tire lift the car up to see the damage, hear my side of the story in front of the tech, see that failed alignment, and even drive the car in an effort to solve amicably. I have pictures of the damaged parts, phone records and the expert opinion from [redacted] of GTX Auto repairs (Chris) , whom the [redacted] at 106tire (Miguel) has even used in the past to work on his own vehicles and also spoke to for confirmation about my car specifically.

Full Details:

The tech taking care of the alignment started off by telling me he was going have to align my car by eye, saying he had also done this with several other cars. After I politely told him I wasn't ok with that he used the machine to get to the alignment numbers I was going for.

I intervened two other times during the alignment; once because he was using channel grips (instead of open-end wrenches) leaving bite marks on my brand new components, and after I said something he borrowed another mechanics tools, and another time when I happened to notice one of the locknuts in the wrong position on the LCA's. I did not, at any point while the car was at 106 tire make sure that all 8 lock nuts were tightened.

I left the shop with the car aligned, but within a few days a I started noticing noise coming from the rear of my car. 5 days later, on the night of the [redacted], the noise was really noticeable and my alignment had gone out so I jacked the car up and found that the tech did not tighten 6 of the 8 locknuts on the Toe Arms and Lower Control Arms. I tightened them so my wheels wouldn't fall off and called 106 tire immediately for a refund. I was told to bring it in Sat the [redacted] and speak to a [redacted]. I did and they offered to re-align it but I told them that I had lost faith in their ability and was going to take it to my regular alignment shop (GTX repair).

They acknowledged fault and refunded the money I had spent for the alignment.

I drove by my regular shop (GTX), told them what had happened, and setup an appointment for a re-alignment for the [redacted]. I dropped my car off with them that morning and received a call from [redacted] of GTX informing me that the LCA's were damaged because of 106tire tech's use of channel grips and failure to tighten the system down. The threads had been stripped and the nuts cross threaded and that the LCA's would need to be replaced before my car could be aligned.

I called 106tire on the [redacted], was told to call back the morning of the [redacted] to set up an appointment to show it to the [redacted] "*". And on the afternoon of the [redacted] I went there to try and work out a peaceable solution. We put it on the lift, I pointed out the undeniable damage, not to mention the danger they put me and my family in. [redacted] "*" was a nice guy, and it turns out knows [redacted] of GTX (my regular shop), so he later gave GTX a call. GTX told him the same thing; the 106 tech messed up and damaged the part, alignment was impossible without first replacing the part.

[redacted] told me to call back Friday after he had a chance to speak with his boss and [redacted]. I did and he said I would need to call back the following week. Saturday the ** the alignment had gotten so bad that my cars traction control warning light came on and I immediately called [redacted] to tell him and he said call back Monday. When I called back Monday (the [redacted]), even after acknowledging the 106tire tech messed up. he told me that [redacted] said because I saw their tech using the wrong tool, and let him(?!) that they were not responsible, and won't replace the parts. I responded by reminding him that when I noticed he was using the wrong tool (channel grips) I told him he should use an open ended wrench, and he then went to borrow the right tools from another tech, at that point I assumed he did.

My car is now parked until it can be repaired.Desired Settlement: 1. I would like the Lower Control Arms that were verifiable damaged by their shop to be replaced.

2. I would like them to cover the cost of replacement by any one of two other shops that I trust.

3. I would like them to insist that their tech's

a) use the right tools

b) double check each others work so a customer doesn't end up in a situation like mine, or worse hurt or killed

Sincerely,

Review: I just went to this business to get a 4 wheel alignment. After it was completed I was handed a report and the report only contained the before their work details. I called the business and asked where is the report with the after alignment numbers as ALL alignment shops give. I was instructed to go back to the store and they would look into it. So I went back and was speaking with the owner. The owner said they DO NOT give after reports. He said the little slip stapled on the before report was a guarantee for 30 days and no one gets that slip unless their car is aligned. I went on to saying that I took my car to their other location 2 years ago at [redacted] and they gave me a before and after report. That location was unable to align the car due to size wheels on the car and lack of camber plates which they clearly explained to me like any shop should do. I was clear that I just wanted to see the numbers on the after. The owner grew frustrated and had me follow him across the street. He went in the back spoke to the tech and looked up my car. I could see red all over the screen which is proof he lied, my car was not properly aligned. Instead of apologizing for his staff and that he was wrong, he asked me to get my car. I got my car he popped the hood and saw no camber plates which I had already told him. He and another member of his staff, started going off on the large wheels, lack of camber plates, etc. I told him I am aware of those issues and already told him about them, all I wanted was a report. The owner literally just left and went back across the street to his office. I was not going to chase him and in the end who knows how many cars are paying for alignments and not getting them done properly. All alignment shops should be required to give a before and after report. I was professional and calm the whole time and the lack of reciprocity from the owner is just sad.Desired Settlement: I would personally like an apology for lying when he said no car leaves unless it's aligned properly. Who knows how many people think their cars where aligned properly but are not. The lack of communication from staff to customers and an unprofessional owner is the real problem.

Sincerely,

Review: I went into the [redacted] store location ([redacted]) on 01/**/14. I subsequently placed an order for a tire and at the time of the order I had indicated that I had a 10% coupon as advertised on their website. The person I worked with at the location above goes by the name of [redacted]. He quoted me a price for the tire and told me that he would honor the 10% discount when I came back in to pick up the tire and pay the balance due. I subsequently went back to the [redacted] store on [redacted] on 02/**/14 in order to pick up my tire and pay the balance. After mounting the tire on the car, I went to pay my balance and have the 10% discount applied, the guy at the store tells me that they will not honor a coupon that is: 1) Is still advertised on their website, 2) was agreed upon by me and the store in late January, 3) is still valid as the coupon advertised on their site does not expire until 12/**/14, 4) there are no contingencies or qualifiers in terms of how the coupon is to be used/applied.

I pointed out all of these items to the guy at the store but he flatly told me that they would not honor a publicly offered coupon that does not have any contingencies regarding applicability. The advertisement is what it is. There is no confusion or doubt as to what product/service the coupon can be applied to. However, most importantly, the guy at the store--[redacted]--told me that he would honor the company issued coupon when I came back to pay the balance--this was at the initial transaction date in January.

There are several issues here. This store operates in a deceptive fashion. They advertise a discount but will not apply it when asked. This store advertises one thing but practices another. This is a prime example of false advertising. This needs to be remedied asap.Desired Settlement: I want the store to honor the discount as advertised and make all the necessary adjustments to the total charge--they need to credit the difference back to my credit card. I also want the store to send me an apology note as I had taken time away from my son during his school break to deal with these operators.
