Dear [redacted] :Regarding the complaint against our business (ID: [redacted] ), thank you for bringing it to our attentionWe appreciate the Revdex.com's practice of requesting both parties' perspectivesPlease see below for an account of our experienceAs instructed, we have tried to exclude any information that personally identifies individuals. We accepted the customer's two pairs of pants on Wednesday, November When dry cleaning the pants, we did our regular cursory check of the clothing before starting the cleaning process and noted the wear on the back of both pantsThe purpose of the check is to be aware of clothing that may require additional attention in the cleaning process—in this case, taking care not to further wear the back of the pantsCustomers will often alert us to these things when dropping off clothing, but we understand that sometimes they forget so we do the cursory checkThe dry cleaning went without incidentAfter picking up the dry cleaning order, the customer returned complaining that we had damaged his pantsWe disagreed since we had noted the damage during our cursory check, the type of damage the customer pointed is atypical of our cleaning processWe suggested perhaps the damage was due to a particular belt given the fabric looked worn.In the customer's complaint to the Revdex.com, he noted the damage on both pants is on the outside of the belt loop in an area that is not in contact with his belt and that none of the other pants he owns are damaged in the same areasThe possibility that the damage could have been due to a belt was just a suggestion given the fabric was not snagged or a ripped, but rather worn downThe customer's submitted complaint also indicated the reason the belt loop on both pants was worn through was from the cleaning processHowever, clothing going through one round of the cleaning process would not result in wearing down of fabric to the degree of damage on the pants, nor would the fabric be worn on the outside of a belt loop if someone was to hold pants by the belt loopsAdditionally, clothing undergoes the chemical cleaning process by grouping into bundles (of varying size depending on the type and delicacy of the items) into the machine and then pulled out, handled, and pressed individuallyIt is only after each item is pressed that clothing is then organized by customerIt would be highly unusual and unlikely for damage to occur in the exact same damage in the exact same spot on two pair of pants belonging to the same customerPlease note that no other pants from those bundles had any issue or damageAdditionally, the fact that the damage is worn fabric rather than a snag, rip, or chemical reaction is also unusual and unlikely to be a result of our handling. The 15"Street Dry Cleaners has been in the neighborhood for over yearsOur loyal customers can vouch for our serviceIn our decade of work here, we have certainly had instances of accidental damageto clothing, but we have always been quick to accept responsibility and work with customers to their satisfactionAs a small business, it is particularly important to do soWe understand that our customers value their clothing, and we, in turn, value our customers and the clothing they entrust to usHowever, we also cannot accept responsibility for damage we did not doIt is unfortunate that we do not agreeSince we will be leaving the neighborhood now that our lease has come to an end, we are happy to recommend other dry cleaners in the area if the filer is looking to have his pants repaired.Sincerely,15"Street Dry Cleaners

Revdex.com:
I appreciate your efforts in contacting the business in reference to complaint ID *** I also appreciate that the business provided a clear response outlining their recollection of events With reference to the business's response, I remain unconvinced that the pants were in fact damaged when I brought them to the cleaners That said, I recognize that we are in a situation in which it is impossible to know whether or not the pants were damaged prior to drop-off, and that it is therefore impossible to assign responsibility in this case While I am not happy with the outcome, I again appreciate both your efforts and the business's efforts to resolve the issue.Regards, *** ***

information that personally identifies individuals. We accepted the customer's two pairs of pants on Wednesday, November 4. When dry cleaning the pants, we did our regular cursory check of the clothing before starting the cleaning process and noted the wear on the back of both pants. The purpose of the check is to be aware of clothing that may require additional attention in the cleaning process—in this case, taking care not to further wear the back of the pants. Customers will often alert us to these things when dropping off clothing, but we understand that sometimes they forget so we do the cursory check. The dry cleaning went without incident. After picking up the dry cleaning order, the customer returned complaining that we had damaged his pants. We disagreed since we had noted the damage during our cursory check, the type of damage the customer pointed is atypical of our cleaning process. We suggested perhaps the damage was due to a particular belt given the fabric looked worn.In the customer's complaint to the Revdex.com, he noted the damage on both pants is on the outside of the belt loop in an area that is not in contact with his belt and that none of the other pants he owns are damaged in the same areas. The possibility that the damage could have been due to a belt was just a suggestion given the fabric was not snagged or a ripped, but rather worn down. The customer's submitted complaint also indicated the reason the belt loop on both pants was worn through was from the cleaning process. However, clothing going through one round of the cleaning process would not result in wearing down of fabric to the degree of damage on the pants, nor would the fabric be worn on the outside of a belt loop if someone was to hold pants by the belt loops. Additionally, clothing undergoes the chemical cleaning process by grouping into bundles (of varying size depending on the type and delicacy of the items) into the machine and then pulled out, handled, and pressed individually. It is only after each item is pressed that clothing is then organized by customer. It would be highly unusual and unlikely for damage to occur in the exact same damage in the exact same spot on two pair of pants belonging to the same customer. Please note that no other pants from those bundles had any issue or damage. Additionally, the fact that the damage is worn fabric rather than a snag, rip, or chemical reaction is also unusual and unlikely to be a result of our handling. The 15"Street Dry Cleaners has been in the neighborhood for over 10 years. Our loyal customers can vouch for our service. In our decade of work here, we have certainly had instances of accidental damageto clothing, but we have always been quick to accept responsibility and work with customers to their satisfaction. As a small business, it is particularly important to do so. We understand that our customers value their clothing, and we, in turn, value our customers and the clothing they entrust to us.
