$18 Eyeglasses Place Reviews (7)

$18 Glasses Place (also known as Plaza Optical) was not able to provide me a pair
of glasses that I could use. Robert (the owner) became VERY nasty and refused to
return the money paid.

Review: I purchased eye glasses and returned letting them know I could not see out of the glasses, they informed me the lenses were correct according to the prescription my eye doctor supplied them with. I returned to the eye doctor and paid for another exam - the prescription was correct and I was informed the glasses did not contain the correct prescription, I had the prescription filled by a 3rd party and could see with this same prescription that $18 Eyeglasses was supposed to fill. I retuned to $18 Eyeglasses for a refund and was told they do not refund but would fix the glasses. The glasses they claim were not defective. Why would I trust them to fill another prescription after I had been there numerous times and was told they had filled the prescription correctly. All I want was my $250 refunded since I had to go some place else and purchase glasses I could see out of. [redacted] the store manager informed me the owner would call me to resolve this issue. That was over a week ago.Desired Settlement: Refunded the $250 I paid for the glasses.

Group On Customers Beware! Apparently if you walk in their door to ask questions about their days and hours of operation and how a Groupon special works, you are considered a "customer" from that moment forward, even if you did not purchase anything. Therefore, you are NOT ELIGIBLE for the $18 Groupon Special because you are no longer considered a NEW customer. Their Groupon ad says for "new customers only", but it does not stipulate that it becomes null and void if you walk into one of their locations to ask questions about their special. In other words, they want you to pay them $18 regardless of whether you buy something or not, before you can look around. Should you decide you don't want anything they have, you're out $18 just for taking a look. Tactics like this should warn anyone that the quality of product and customer service isn't going to be that great. Taking my business elsewhere.

Review: Had a pair of glasses made the left arm was sprung and could not see out of the glasses brought them back to complain at [redacted] Somers store was treated VERY RUDELY by his clerk who works there on Friday. Monday got glasses back instead of replacing frames hebput a too long wrong colored screw in arm. Still cannot see went back to my eye doctor to make sure prescription was correct. The PD in the glasses he made us way off it is 62 took them back he trues to tell me my PD has been 61 for years when in fact it is 58 OD 28.5 and OS 29.5. It bends the glasses trying to tell me the form that fits my face is off. Vision is still blurry can't see far nor near (they are suppose to be progressive but there is barely any reading axis is 70 in the glasses he has it way off by 8. He tells me I have to wear them to get use to them. I have been wearing the same prescription for years I CANNOT SEE OUT THESE GLASSES! I paid 328.00 he should have replaced broken frames and needs ti correct the lenses my PD does not change day and night. I told my eye doctor whst he said she saud due to the high power of my prescription my PD needs to be exact. He refuses to replace lenses or frames frankly I want my money back I will have to go elsewhere. Cannot see!Desired Settlement: Replace broken frame (screw is too big he cut it and it is sharp) and correct lenses with right prescription or give me my 328 back!

Review: Very poor customer service. Had an eye exam on 5/16/15 and I was told that I would be called to schedule a follow up appt. I still have not been contacted for that follow up. My 2 week lenses given to me at my original appt. are no longer any good, seeing as how its going on 4 weeks in a 2week lense. Every time I call to get answers I am given the run around.Desired Settlement: Release of my prescription.

Review: they said I needed glasses and yes I do but I should beable to see out of what I buy...I complained they said I need to get used to them tried again but still cannot see but they wanted me to pay for them....they said it takes time to get use to them my [redacted] and then he said if I didnt get use to them they would not honor the prescription and fix them......all was blurry and distorted they were not even close to being right...did not buy and will not EVER go there again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Desired Settlement: thier eye examination was wrong but they still wanted me to buy I took my money back and left.....I paid 50.00... eye examination was 29.00........ 21.00 was put towards glasses I want a total refund because they did not provide services as agreed and could not guarantee their work!!!!!! will never step foot in the place again and I will make sure no one I know will either........get my money back please this place is all about fraud!!!!!

Review: The ad states clearly that this place will sell you a pair of eye glasses for $18 (INCLUDES lenses). They ALSO do the eye exam at the same location with a "licensed optometrist" and IF you combine the exam with the purchase of glasses, then the exam is $39.

On January 21, 2014, we went there to have my eyes and my girlfriend's son's eyes examined. We both needed glasses. His eyes needed a strong prescription. Mine only needed a mild prescription for my left lens and my right eye needed no correction. (per the Dr. and I agreed) We had to prepay the glasses. When we did they told us they could take up to 7 to 10 days. They had them ready for us the NEXT day!! It was GREAT!

January 22, 2014, we went to pick them up... they had her son's glasses correct. They fit him well and he was able to see better.

When I tried on mine, I immediately said they didn't seem right. I was told to take them with me to wear them a few days and then come back to get them adjusted if they weren't a good fit. I told them they seemed out of focus. I did take them home, wore them for almost 2 hours and started getting a headache. (I DON'T get headaches, so I took them off) I examined the glasses closer now at home and discovered:

1 - the left lens seemed to be about right

2 - the right lens was STRONGER than the left???

3 - My girlfriend ALSO saw the same differences... the right lens is DEFINITELY stronger than the LEFT! (Notice above -- RIGHT eye needed NO correction, only LEFT eye)

We took them back the next day we were able to go to the store (January 27th, they're closed more then they are open) in the evening. The receptionist asked what was wrong. I explained what had happened. She brought out the "lab technician" (man) who proceeded to tell me:

1 - "Your glasses are only reading glasses"

(I responded, the are NOT just reading glasses, they are glasses for reading only)

2 - "Your glasses are made to the prescription the doctor gave me."

(I responded, "He told me I have need for prescription in my left eye, nothing in my right eye")

3 - "Do you remember having him test your eyes?" (in a sarcastic voice... implying: "You're forgetting he did this?")

(I responded, "Yes, he did. And he TOLD me I would need a lens for my left eye and my right eye would not need any correction." He ALSO stated these glasses are FOR reading ONLY as I did not want BIFOCALS.)

4 - I told him, "Look, I just want you to CORRECT your error in MY lenses. I CAN NOT see with these lenses."

( HE responded: "I want an answer to my question! Until you answer my question, I will not do ANYTHING for you!!")

I reminded him... "My glasses came with a 30 day warranty!! I tried to wear them, and they are NOT what they are supposed to be! YOU put the WRONG lenses in! They are useless to me as they are. I can NOT wear them!"

At this point he REFUSED to do ANYTHING for me!! He told me: "If you want them corrected, you will need to PAY for ANOTHER exam AND a NEW pair of glasses!" (He was raising his voice to me in a LOUD voice told me basically PAY for the new appointment or GET out!)

I told him, "You know what? Just give me my money back... ALL of my money! The exam AND the glasses! I'll go to a REAL Eye care place then and get my glasses properly done!"

At this point he said, "This conversation is over, GOOD BYE"Desired Settlement: #1 - I want to have eyeglasses I can WEAR!

#2 - I do NOT want to have to PAY ANYTHING extra due to THEIR Lab Tech making a mistake

#3 - If they refuse, I want ALL our money back!

$39 + $26 (exam + glasses)
