Dear *** ***,
What *** *** conveniently neglected to mention in her account of her experience with our company is that the first time she remembered to come and pick up her clothes was in late November of 2014, some seven (7) months after she dropped them offShe dropped off her
clothes on April 23", Our policy stating that "WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS NOT PICKED UP WITHIN DAYS" is prominently displayed for everyone to see above our front countersIn addition, the drop off receipt that every customer receives after dropping off items clearly has the same policy stated on the back of the receiptAdditionally, each customer is verbally notified when their items will be ready and are reminded of the pipolicy upon dropping of* *** clearly was aware of the pipolicy but for whatever reason she chose not to pick up her items until seven (7) months have gone by.Our standard procedure for items that are not picked up within the first month or two is to store these items in an offsite location for a period not to exceed six months from the day they were dropped offIn effect, we are giving the customer a total of six (6) months to pick up their items, even though we do not claim any responsibility for their condition or their existence past one monthIf the customer does not ask for the items within six months, the items are assumed to have been abandoned and are donated to needy people and/or organizationsWe typically donate items to people who work with different church groupsWe do not keep receipts for the donations as we DO NOT realize any gain from these items either directly or through tax deductions*** ***'s items were most likely donated to one of these church groupsIf you have further questions, please don't hesitate to contact meThank you,

February 3rd, Dear *** ***,It is not very clear to me what *** *** is claimingIs it that we took the labels off of her scarves purposely? I see no reason whatsoever as to why we would do thatI can assure you and her that taking labels off of garments is in no way
part of our cleaning processOr maybe she is claiming that the labels came off during cleaning and they were sewn back in a manner that was unsatisfactory to herWhich is it?When she called to complain to one of our managers, our manger tried to explain to her that there is no reason that we would remove the labelsMs Penn-brown became quite hostile to the manager and accused her of lying and of removing the labels on purpose and putting them on scarves that weren't hersThe manager let *** *** know that she was being totally out of line with her slanderous and libelous accusationsIn reading her complaint, however, it seems that she has backed off her accusations and seems to be simply dissatisfied with the way the labels are sewn to the scarvesI spoke to every person at our facility who could have possibly been in contact with the scarves and everyone assured me that they did not engage in sewing any labels to any scarves or to any other garmentsIn fact, we do not have means to perform any alteration work outside of replacing buttons at this facilityAll alteration work is sent out to our other facility in Herndon where it usually takes several days for any type of alteration work to be doneI checked with our tailor in Herndon and she has no memory of putting any labels on any scarvesI am left to conclude, *** ***, that *** *** is either badly mistaken about the condition of the labels on her scarves before they came into our store, or she is actually not being truthful about her claimsI would like to think it's the former as I would like to continue to have faith in my fellow human beingsSincerely,

October 15th, 2014Dear *** ***,The customer complaining about our service did bring a set of draperies for dry cleaningThe set was dry cleaned using our industry standard dry cleaning process that has existed in the dry cleaning industry for decadesUpon receiving the draperies
after cleaning, the customer complained that a few of the draperies were showing a color change along the fringesWe confirmed that in fact, there was a difference in color in those areasThe Color change was only restricted to the fringes and in only a small part of the fringesThe main body of the drapes showed no change in colorOur managers tried to explain to her that color change, sometimes referred to as dye separation can happen in certain fabrics during dry cleaningIt is not very common but still can happen in older fabrics and fabrics that are not cleaned regularlyThe customer did inform us that she owned these drapes for several years and they have been hanging on her windows for all these years and that they have never been cleaned beforeWe tried to tell her that these conditions can easily cause damage to the color or dye that will only show up after the fabric has been cleanedShe did not accept that answer and she insisted that we caused the damage by an act of negligence or misusing chemicals, etcAlso, contrary to what she is saying, I did call her and spoke with her personally and reaffirmed what our managers told her, namely that the color change was due to the condition of the drapes before they were brought in and was not caused by us and therefore we do not accept any responsibilityShe kept trying to convince me that I should give her some compensation and told her that I only compensate customers where it is clear that compensation is warranted due to negligence on our partIn her case she can take these drapes to the manufacturer and see if they will accept responsibility. She came into the store a couple of nights after I spoke with her and again insisted that we compensate her, except that this time she brought her husband with her who stood in the lobby spewing profanities at our managerHe was told by our manager to leave the store or else he will call the policeHer husband left the store and shortly after she left while threatning to Call the Revdex.com.*** ***, I would like to bring to your attention an article published by the Revdex.com summarizing damages/responsibilities in the dry cleaning industry as specified by the DLl (Drycleaning and Laundry Institute), especially the section on draperiesIt is available online at www.Revdex.com.org/new-york-city/get-consumer-help/articles/dry-cleaning/.If you have further questions please don't hesitate to contact me!
Sincerely,
