First meeting with *** *** was on June 26th at pmMr*** stated he had a insurance claim and wanted to know if we could do the workI informed him that we could handle the entire project as well as sending in a supplement to the insurance company to include gutter screens, Garage door
replacement and drip edge on homeWe sat down with *** and his wife and went over the contract to do the workHe signed at the time A meeting was scheduled with a garage door company to get an estimate so that it could be sent in to the insurance companyThis meeting took place on June 29th*** was present and picked out a few upgrades at that time as wellSupplement items were compiled by office staff and sent out on June 30th Project manager followed up with insurance company on July 11th and 18thInsurance company sent a request to homeowner for additional photos backing up the supplementThese photos were obtained by Project manager and sent inapproval for supplement was sent to homeownerProject manager met with *** *** and his wife to go over changes to the job that were approved by insurance and to pick colors for roof, gutters and garage door*** stated he was waiting on a small check from insurance company and then we would get startedProject manager followed up a couple time over the next weeks but never received any cash value to begin projectFinally on September 11th Project manager called to check and see how things were going on getting a deposit for the job as soon as he introduced himself *** hung up on him and then proceeded to send him a long string of textAt no point during the meetings and communications was it ever expressed or perceived that the customer was simply looking for pricingIt was explained to him during that first meeting that 1st Choice Construction does work for insurance proceeds and once we signed a contract that we would begin our part of the job by working to get a supplement approved for items missed by the insurance companyAt no point during this process was the salesman or 1st Choice Construction informed that we would not be doing the workSo what do we do if we are asked to complete work, sign a contract with the customer to complete the work for what the insurance allows, Meet with customer twice, choose colors and upgrades, meet with our subcontractor on site, obtain bids as a general contractor then supplement the insurance carrier to obtain approval for work that was missed in the original scope, customer receives additional funds for work we are contracted to complete then when it comes time to start they say we are using someone else to do the workWe are not challenging the customers right to choose their contractor, we were the contractor and our project manager has quite a few hours wrapped up in the job and the customer cancelled the contract for no known reason and is now stating that he thought all of this happened to get a priceHe even signed the Construction prep evaluationIf you read it you would know you weren’t getting an estimateThis customer did everything that I would warn my project managers to look out for when avoiding customers that are looking to create a financial windfall from an insurance claimI have attached all documented communication history as followsIt is likely that there was communication at some point which was not documentedWe feel we are within our rights to invoice for our time and consideration on this project in which the customer took advantage of our work and refuses to cover his obligationOur invoice amount is under half what the estimated project wasFurthermore, In the years that I have been in this industry I have never had a Revdex.com complaintWe received our first notice of a complaint from an email from Revdex.com stating that this was our second noticeThis was not our second noticeWhen I called Revdex.com concerned that we did not receive the initial complaint but did receive the second, I was told by Amber that she had heard the same thing from a few other customers that day and that she would speak with IT about itWe would love to resolve this but doing so without Mr*** taking care of the time that was spent by our commission based project manager will be very difficult
