1st Choice Landscaping

We hired 1st Choice Landscaping to install a paver walkway and porch in the front of our house 4 years ago. They also supposed to give us yard. We discussed the difficulties we had with growing grass, and were assured they would do whatever they had to to give us a lush lawn. Unfortunately the porch heaves in the winter and we can't open our front door. Their much touted "hydroseeding" completely failed and we still don't have a lawn 4 years later (we've had to do all we could do it ourselves). Calls and emails for the past 3 years have gone completely ignored and when we actually DO get an appointment, he doesn't show up. When we left this review on their Facebook page, their response was as follows: "As for making appointments the owner and head foreman did show up and no one was either home or answered the door and business cards were left in the door to let you know we were there. Our hydro seeding or any other seeding requires proper watering and fertilizing. The area that did not come in is due to the shade and the big tree in the front with its big roots stealing water from the new seed so therefore it needed to be watered more efficiently. As for the porch heaving it is Wisconsin and it is inevitable that there will be heaving and sinking. It was heaved a 1/4" to where the door sweep was catching and could have easily been fixed by the homeowner. It is not the responsibility ours to maintain the work done at the property 4 years ago. It would be the same as a person having concrete installed and it cracks and heaves and sinks, you would have to pay to have them come rip it out and repour they would not do it for free. The point is that grass is a living thing and has to be cared for by the homeowner once installed and the porch has nothing to do with the way it was installed it's just frost that is in the ground that is uncontrollable by you or I." 1. That 60'+ maple tree in our yard was not planted after they hydroseeded. They knew it was there when they performed the service. And yes, we watered that thing every day....until it was practically flooded. And I would not consider it "installed" considering nothing ever grew! 2. Why would the owner/foreman show up during the day when they KNOW we work? 3. We've been trying to get them to fix the porch since the first winter we had it and we discovered that it interfered with our door. Yes this is Wisconsin, but again, wouldn't you think they, as the professionals, would take that into account when doing the work?? We don't know anything about hardscaping, otherwise we would have saved the $3000 and done the work ourselves!
