Review: Sunday, June 26, 2016

March 31, 2016, I bought a 2014 Jeep Patriot at Ist Choice Motors, [redacted] a member of the Mabry Auto Group in [redacted], VA. I took the car for a trial drive and noticed that there was some jerking as the vehicle moved between gears. I was accustomed to that as my previous vehicle, a 2010 Jeep Patriot, did the same thing. I had taken the 2010 to [redacted] when I first bought it to determne the cause of the jerking and was told that the CVT transmission was known for jumping and that it would probably modify as the car became accustomed to my driving style. I drove the 2010 for three years and the jumping did not stop or worsen.

After purchasing the 2014, I noticed that it was also having difficulty navigating the hills near my home. It just seemed to lose power going up hills and that as well as the jumping got worse as time went on.

I needed to make a trip to ** for a family gathering for my daughter who is confined to a wheel chair with a terminal illness. As the time for the trip aproached I decided to get the transmission checked out. I went to a reputable shop. The owner took it for a test drive and said that it was not the transmission but the engine.

I went back to 1st Choice. They looked at it and tried to get a code to come up but none did. This was the weekend of Memorial Day and they were too busy to further assess the problem. I tried to rent a car for the trip but after making two attempts found that there were no rental cars to be had in the [redacted] area.

I started on the trip, got as far as [redacted] and decided that the car was not going to make it all the way to **. There was a Jeep dealer there and I had them look at it. After taking it for a drive the mechanic told me it was either spark plugs or the torque converter. I called [redacted] at Ist Choice to advise him and he told me to keep him posted. I left my car to be repaired the following Tuesday as Monday was a holiday, rented a car in [redacted], and continued the trip to [redacted] When I returned to [redacted] on Tuesday the dealership had replaced the spark plugs. I called [redacted] and let him know.

I returned to Madison Heights, Wed the 1st of June and on Thursday the 2nd of June went to 1st Choice and gave the bills for the repair and the car retnal to [redacted]. He took my phone number and said he would see what he could do and call me. From that day to this I have not heard from Mr. [redacted].

The following Thursday, June 9th, I stopped in to see Mr. [redacted]. I was told he was on vacation. On Tuesday, the 14th of June, I again stopped in and was told it was his day off. Later that week I called and was told he was on the phone and could not talk to me.

The Jeep is not doing any more jumping and the power is better, however, it has developed a vibration and I stopped by the service department at 1st Choice to let them know.

Since it appears that I cannot get a response from the auto dealer, I am seeking the help of Revdex.com in this matter, and am requesting that the two bills, for the repair to the Jeep $339.28, and the car rental, $297.79, be reimbursed to me in full by either 1st Choice Motors or Mabry Auto Group. The price for the rental will differ by $100.00 from the bill presented because [redacted] owes me that amount for the deposit.Desired Settlement: am requesting that the two bills, for the repair to the Jeep $339.28, and the car rental, $297.79, be reimbursed to me in full by either 1st Choice Motors or Mabry Auto Group. Review: Whenever something was wrong with the car, I would call and let them know and they'd say they couldn't do it. Then they'd say it was fixed. When I bought the car in for service they told me it was a cracked catalytic converter and they should have known about the defect before the sale. There was also a noise (squeak) in the tires and they said they couldn't do anything about it. The sun roof wasn't working and leaked and they claimed to have fixed it and there was still a lag in the mechanism and still didn't open properly. The speakers of the sound system did not work, which seemed like an electrical problem, which was also never fixed.

The vehicle was involved in an accident on 8/14/14 (not my fault) and the dealership didn't tell me I needed to cancel out the warranty and the gap insurance that I had on the car, which was not true. At the time of purchase, they made me buy extra warranties (maintenance, security system and another warranty) that I wasn't even aware of, and that I paid extra for.

The original price of the car was $11,900, but ended up being $17,000--which was way over the original price we agreed to, as result of the above mentioned warranties.

After the car was deemed as totaled, I was not informed that I needed to cancel out the above mentioned warranties and I still had $2000 left on the loan which the gap insurance didn't pay for. Therefore, by me not cancelling out the other warranties, I was not informed of this by them, and thus was ripped off that amount.

I was in another dealership buying another car, and that salesperson alerted me to this situation, thus I'm contacting the Revdex.com to try and rectify the situation with 1st Choice Auto.Desired Settlement: I would like a total refund for the amount I've paid for the car; as well as an explanation as to why I was uninformed and paid for warranties I didn't need or even know about.
