1st Class Moving & Storage Company Reviews (2)

We hired 1st class moving of memphis to help us move from a house to a condo. The movers were 2 and 1/2 hours late and we did not receive a phone call to let us know what was going on. I made several calls to the company that were ignored. Several pieces of our furniture were scratched or damaged in some form or fashion. One of the TVs had been dropped and the front casing had gouges in it and the screen is scratched. We have not unpacked all our pieces b/c we will be at the condo temporarily so I have not been able to access all the damage. The movers also ran into doors, door jams, and walls causing additional damage. I personally watched 1 of the movers ram a dresser into a door casing 4 times before he reangled his equipment to make it through the doorway. They also crashed into and broke a wall thermastat. I tried to get hold of the owner, [redacted], but had to leave a voicemail. He left me a message stating there was nothing he could do because it had been 48 hrs after the move before the damage was reported. I left him a message telling him we could not access the damage earlier then that b/c there were contractors at the condo. The furniture had not been touched or moved since his employees had moved everything in. The pieces were covered with drop clothes and left alone. None of my calls have been answered or returned.Unfortunately, my mother used the same company to move her things into the same condo the following weekend. Her things were moved into 3 rooms. One of the movers(white guy with a scar on his face) was seen by her coming out of a room that no furniture was being moved into or out of. When she asked him what he was doing in there, he said he "had seen something in there that had caught his eye". At a later time a bank was found to be missing from that same room. The bank contained about $1000.00 in change and bills. Once again the company owner, [redacted], was contacted and informed of the missing bank and which mover was seen in the room. Nothing has been done by the company.Product_Or_Service: June 25th, 2013Desired SettlementFull reimbursement, return of the stolen bank and its contents, apology, and termination of that employee.Business' Initial Response As stated in our conversation with [redacted] (not a voice message), we can not reimburse due to the length of time from the completion of the move to the time she reached out to us to report a claim.(apprx 1-2 weeks later). We apologize for the inconvienence. We have no information about the items she refers to being stolen. Shane Hardin (referred to with scar) is no longer an employee with 1st Class Moving & Storage. Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The claim was filed 5 days after the move b/c that is when we saw the damage. The pieces were dropped off by his movers and covered with drop clothes. The last people to touch the pieces were his movers. We were never informed there was a 48hour window to file a claim until after we tried to get in touch with the owner to do so. The mover who dropped the TV said to file a claim, but never said anything about a time limit. As far as the stolen bank, [redacted], the owner, was contacted by [redacted], my mother, who had the misfortune to use the same company to move her things into the same condo. She spoke to [redacted] because she was the person who saw Shane leave the room that the missing bank came from, so, yes, [redacted] was made aware of the missing item. I did not contact [redacted] about the stolen item b/c I was not at the property when it was taken, my mother was.Since it was my husband's property that was stolen we filed the claim with the [redacted] police dept. Claim # XX-XXXXXThis has to be the worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. The owner should be ashamed of how he runs his so-called business.Business' Final Response Again, we will not reimburse due to the timeframe to report your claim. The fact that your new home was under construction does not excuse the fact that you reveiw your household goods from a move. Sent july 5th at 1039am. We moved Ms [redacted] on 6/25/2013 and she contacted us to file a claim on July 5th at 10:39am (We still have the message). That's a 10day turnaround. The individual that Ms. [redacted] claims stole a bank is no longer employed with 1st Class Moving and Storage. They're more than happy to file a claim under that individual. Ms. [redacted] is also subject to defamation of character for posting reviews and information about our company that is "subjective". We at 1st Class Moving do not condone stealing nor any other negative activity.

Missing items from my move from [redacted] City to [redacted], FlI contracted with 1st Class Movers of [redacted], Tn to move my household belongings from [redacted] City, Ok. to [redacted], Fl. All my belongings were in storage, and it was going to take 2 trucks to move all my househoild items. The movers were 2 hours late arriving, and it took 9.5 hours for them to load the trucks. Then, one of the trucks had a mechanical problem, and it took 30 minutes or so to get it running. The delivery date was scheduled no later than Jan. 6th. I spoke with the owner on Jan 4th, and he told me that the trucks would be at my house by mid-afternoon on Jan 5th. The trucks showed up at 9 pm, and the movers finished unloading at 2:30am. Some of the furniture was damaged, but we did not have the time to inspect everything. We had 2 truck loads, with maybe 100+ boxes. We are still unpacking, six weeks later. We discovered that 4 glass curio shelves were missing, along with a box containing some[redacted] china that was a wedding gift(44 yrs. ago). The estimate to replace the shelves was about $80 a shelf. The[redacted] can't be replaced. I knew the contract had a 48 hour window to make a claim, and we were outside of that window. I emailed the owner, and informed him of the missing items, with hopes that he would check around to see if they got misplaced. His response to me was, I'm sorry, but you are outside of the 48 hour window, and that my claim could not be processed( I still have his emails). I had not filed a claim. (There is no way possible that we could have gone through all of our stuff in 48 hours anyway). I found out that the trucks were re-packed at the company's warehouse in [redacted], to make room for another load, which was delivered to[redacted]. My suspicions are that the items got broken during the re-pack, or were unloaded in[redacted]. The owner's comments to me lead me to believe he doesn't care. Maybe he knew about the loss, and knew that it would take me more than 48 hours to find them missing. I know for a fact that the items were loaded on the trucks in [redacted] City, but did not make it to [redacted]. Fl. I have no reason to make this up, as I have never filed a claim, or asked for retribution, for the missing items. I would never use this mover again, and would not recommend them to anybody who values their property.Desired SettlementAll I wanted the owner to do was check around for the missing items. The[redacted] china was a wedding gift, and can not be replaced.Business Response We responded to Mr. [redacted]'s complaint. Here's what was stated on 2/24:Original messageSent: Monday, 24 February 2014 at 17:11:10From: "[redacted]" To: "[redacted]" Subject: Re: Re: Booking Confirmation - Scheduled moving date w/1st Class Moving & Storage - 12/31 - OKC to Ocala, FLMr. [redacted],First, as stated in previous conversations, your goods were "repositioned" in the truck to create additional room for a load we had to deliver in [redacted]. This was done using one of our vehicles (an empty truck) backed up to your truck removing a 1/4" of your goods (all big items) and placing back in your designated truck. This was the vehicle that didn't have the antique goods. There was nothing left of your inventory in our truck. Your items were never unloaded into our warehouse. There was not a need to verify this. Second, the items delivered to [redacted] were inventoried and tagged with stickers to identify what were there items, furthermore those items were positioned on the rear of the truck. Finally, we can not explain the missing China. No one had access to your vehicle as the cameras were checked when you originally contacted us. [redacted], we orchestrate 400-500 moves a year local and long distance. We are not in business to minimize the importance of our clients household goods. We responded to your complaint just to inform you of the time period not "to get out of filing a claim". Please rest assure that we did our due diligence in handling your claim. From start to finish, we took care of you and your needs in a responsive manner. Again, we apologize for the missing and damaged goods. It's just unfortunate that we can not respond accordingly. If you need anything from us in the future that we can help you with please let us know.Sincerely,[redacted] Original Message From: [redacted]Sent: 02/23/XX XX:XX PMTo: [redacted]Subject: Re: Re: Booking Confirmation - Scheduled moving date w/1st Class Moving & Storage - 12/31 - OKC to Ocala, FLMr. [redacted], I have waited to respond to your reply to be sure that the items I mentioned were indeed missing. We finally got to the point that we can inventory everything. I was in hopes that the items would show up. If you will read my last email to you reference my missing items, you will see that not once did I say anything about a claim. I knew about the contractual "48 hour" window. I was just advising you that I had some missing items, and all I wanted you to do was check around your warehouse and your other point of delivery to see if they got missed place. I know you re-packed my belongings, and made another delivery with one of the trucks. It is possible that the items got misplaced or unloaded at the other drop. My suspicion is that the glass shelves got broken, and you decided to cover it up since it was a good probability that we would not discover them missing during the 48 hr. window since we had so much stuff to go through. Whatever happened, I don't know. But I do know that the items were loaded on your trucks in Oklahoma City, but they did not make it to my house in Ocala, Fl. The shelves can be replaced, but they are very expensive. The [redacted] was a wedding gift, and can't be replaced at any price. I have no reason to make this up, because I am not seeking any monetary retribution. I would expect a respectable moving company to be more concerned about their clients belongings, and make every attempt to locate the missing items. Obviously, your company is not one of them. From our brief conversation, I gathered that two of your household pieces were unaccounted for (bookshelf & curio cabinet w/glass???). Unfortunately, our binding contracts states a 48hr window for situations like this, therefore we can not proceed with this claim. If you have any further concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.The Management Team1st Class Moving & Storage
