1st Security Preparation and Placement Reviews (3)

Review: I started my security career with 1st security in 2005. I am a licensed NYS security guard.I have multiple certifications from here and signed a contract stating their company provides lifetime placement. I also paid for my armed guard course. I went to the location where they used to be and found out they Moved. Then I went to the new location and did not get placed. Today 8/*/2013 I went back to do my 8 hr annual for security guards and the superintendent told me that they moved again. He gave me the new address and when I arrived the company was a security office but NOT 1st security. It was called 1st National. They told me 1st Security Went Out Of Business and they are not affiliated with them. They also said the contracts I have have nothing to do with them. I would have to pay for my classes and armed guard course again. This is ridiculous . I am a father of 2 and in desperate need of a job. Please help me. Thank you.Desired Settlement: I want justice!!!! My refund and a job.

Review: I went to 1st security to recieve my 8 and 16 hours courses as well as my security liscense. I paid them $250 for these classes. When I try to apply to a security position, or for my security liscense, I am told that my certifications of the 8 and 16 hour courses are not valid and they do not recognize 1st security as a legitimate organisation.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by 1st Security Preparation and Placement regarding complaint ID [redacted].

I am emailing you to let you know that 1st security has not attempted to contact me by any means. I would like to add that the amount I paid may be closer to $180, but since they did not provide a receipt, I unable to be completely sure of the exact amount I paid. I took their classes roughly 2 years ago and my memory of the exact amount paid isn't 100% accurate. What I am sure of is that I paid no less than $180 and no more than $250 for the two certifications that I emailed you.

Sincerely,

Review: I was looking for a job. I came about this offer online and I was excited after speaking to someone. I [redacted] was seventeen years old at the time and I had explained to them my situation over the phone. I was told to come in for an interview. I was then introduce to [redacted] who seemed very professional as I attended the interview. He then explained to me what I was required to have before I started work. The requirements were my 8 hr, 16 hr, and fireguard security license. [redacted] also had said that I was promised placement upon completion. [redacted] then told me I would have to pay for the classes because they were necessary by the state to be a security guard. He then mapped out the price for everything which was 500 dollars and told me if I payed today I would be P.I.F ( paid in full) I payed by credit card to keep a record in case of losing the receipt. I was then giving a contract stating that I was Paid In Full. After the payment I was giving a schedule of the classes. My class for the 8 hr would start 1/**/2013 then 8 hr part two would start 2/*/2013. I completed those two days. After then I was told to come back 2/*/2013 for 16 hr part one and 2/*/2013 for 16 hr part two then 2/*/2013 for 16 hr part three. when I went to attend the 16 hr part 1 I was told by [redacted] that there has been a mix up with the schedule and that I would have to come back next week. I did so I went back on 2/**/2013 for part one and completed it then 2/**/2013 for part two. On 2/*/2013 at the 16 hr part 3 class I was taking the test and the instructor [redacted] asked how old was I cause I had looked young. I then told her my age 17 and she stormed through the school in rage stating "we can get in trouble and im not allowed to take the test due to my age and who had signed me up because they would get in trouble. I then was told to come back tomorrow and then ask for ms her so she can take me to the right person to handle this matter. I did so and upon my return I was told that I am not allowed to speak to [redacted] because shes just a teacher. I then was directed back to [redacted] who signed me up and he played off as if everything was fine knowing it was a problem. He asked me what was the problem and I explained it to him. He then said "why would the teacher tell you that after I spoke to my supervisor letting them know that you were 17 and I was giving permission to let you attend the courses". He then left and said he was going to speak to his supervisor and then came back and asked me when was a good time for me to come back to take the test. I came back for the time said and he was on lunch & then when I came back at the time the front desk clerk said he would be back I was then told he went home for the day. After this long term issue I then demanded a refund. I was then told to speak to a supervisor and I would have to [redacted] back the next day because all supervisor had left for today. I then returned tomorrow and was told by the same person that told me to come back tomorrow that I couldn't just walk in I needed an appointment. A supervisor then appeared and had said I looked frustrated and what was the problem I explained everything and was told the refund would take 14 business days and I would need to get in contact with who I signed up with which was [redacted]. I then try to contact him and could never catch any contact. I then finally got into contact with hi co worker [redacted] and she stated they don't work there no more and they couldn't help me and that I should just go back there to 1st security. I then after looked on the news and the were being sued by New York Attorney General [redacted] for allegedly using fake job listings and false promises of employment. Since 2008, 1st Security Preparation & Placement Inc. and [redacted], the company’s owner, allegedly scammed more than 15,000 consumers into paying for expensive security guard training courses. [redacted]’s office secured a temporary restraining order against Haft and the company to freeze assets and stop them from advertising job openings or selling training courses.Desired Settlement: I think that there responsibility is to own up to what they did wrong. Which was making a quick buck off of someones hard earned money that was young a desperate to work. And give back the amount paid which was 500 dollars times the days I was promised work and never got anything. And also pay back everyone else that they took from and did not uphold there side of the bargain with
