I am rejecting this response because: See attached email showing that a picture was sent to Two Brothers over a month agoAlso the estimate was originally sent from *** *** *** 2/22/There was no response from Two Brothers. Any mechanic knows that the manifold has to be removed to work on the heads of the engineIf this wasn't removed, then the mechanics never changed the heads which is what I paid $3,forAs for how it was broken, you will have to ask your mechanics that questionThe van had no coolant leaks prior to the repairAfter getting the van back, the coolant was leaking from the manifoldAgain, we live in Texas and had to plan to get the van back from OhioWe could not stay in Ohio to hash this out with Two BrothersWe have provided pictures and a written estimate from a *** auto care centerThe pictures were sent long before it was requested. As for talking to the owner, two mature adults should be able to discuss this over the phoneThis would save alot of time as it takes several days for Two Brothers to respondRight now, I do not trust the manager of Two Brothers as he has stated to the owner that he told us not to fix the vanIn fact, not only did he tell us the van engine was a really good engine but he also quoted us a price of $2,The final repair well exceeded that. At this point, I feel this business is stallingHoping that we just give up and go awayThat will not happenI also feel it is unreasonable for this business to continue to make demands on proof that the coolant bypass hose is, in fact, broken and has to be removed to accomplish the repairs done at Two BrothersWe have done what was asked and then someAfter all the money spent at Two Brothers for the repairs, I believe they can cover the $to fix their mistake.

Please see attachment dated from Friday 3-10-regarding repairs made at *** Auto Care TexasPlease have shop provide a written response outlining their assessment that Brothers Automotive broke the coolant tube, the description in the current repair states customer direction and opinion to replace the leaking tube that Brothers Automotive damagedPlease provide pictures of damage and as much description of how the tube was damaged IEManner of what the technician did to create a metal/steel tube to leakOnce we receive that information we can further determine an appropriate responseIn regards to cracked plastic dash part, Brothers Automotive will not remedy or respond in any fashion to this complaint any furtherThe customer was appropriately advised and must understand a piece of plastic that has been in extreme temperatures for the amount of years that the vehicle has been in service there certainly will yield unforeseen problems with those partsIt does not entitle the customer to new parts in trade of a 15+ year sun baked partWe extend our sincerest apologies that the customer feels we failed to appropriately advised them of the damage of the broken partIn regards to the customers demand to speak with the ownerThe management team made their best attempts to satisfy the customers concernsIt is well with in the General Manager's scope of duties to respond to customer concerns, speaking to the owner will not change the outcome or response making the customer request moot
Good Afternoon,Although, we certainly are disappointed that the customer feels this way, our records reflect exactly what is stated in our previous response. Brothers Automotive LLC was paid for a drive-ability complaint and obviously cured his engine performance issueBy his admission his engine had recently been replaced once by another shop ,meaning someone else put his exhaust on with improper nuts and they appeared to function at time of serviceBrothers Automotive LLC in fact was paid for the inspection and diagnostic for the drive-ability complaint and we did in fact repair that issueThe issue of the exhaust replacement of his Catalytic converter was by his direction, The customers own admission was he went to *** Auto Parts first to procure his own parts at which point a recommendation came aboutOnce the vehicle was seen by our master technician we advised the vehicle needed a major tune up prior to a catalytic converter and the converter would not cure his drive-ability complaint. At that time the customer decided he wasnt going to have his truck repaired by Brothers Automotive and took his truck around the corner to another repair shop "*** *** Automotive " After a few days he mysteriously decided to return the vehicle to our location accepting our driveability diagnosis and requesting we do the repairs and install his provided warranty catalytic converter from *** Auto partsAt that time he was told we do not warranty anything to do with customer provided parts or any subsequent issues with their direction of repairsWe are a for profit repair shop.To address this customers opinion, *** Auto parts recommends us to their customers for good cause and not for the reasons specifiedWe provide repairs to their leased company vehicles which is *** Fleet Management due to our Outstanding ReputationBrothers Automotive LLC is a (NAPA AUTO CARE) facility and has nothing to do with *** Auto parts and anyone who drives by our store front will note the BIG sign indicating this factOur primary parts supplier is, in fact, a direct competitor of *** Auto PartsThe reality (FACT) for the consumer is the warranty *** Auto Parts provided this man should have been VOIDHis converter did not fail on its own, his motor was not running properly that ,once again by his own admission, was installed by another shop and was dumping raw fuel into the exhaust system, damaging the converterSo he pinned that on the Autoparts store and the manufacturer of the part to recieve a free replacement part that was not a warrant-able failureIf that free customer service provision was not enough now he wants to bash my company and try to leverage more free work or a monetary gain for another repair shop's mistakeWhy again did you not return your vehicle to the shop that started your repairs sir, and why after a month or so did you decide this minor exhaust leak was present by your admission ever since we performed the work, yet only after a couple months you decided to complain? Lastly the customers opinion and representation of my company as well as his slanderous behavior will not leverage him anythingOur fair offer of a discount to overcome his complaint is the only offer being madeAs noted in our first response, this damaged nut and stud issue came about months after the repair, I believeSo clearly we attempted to perform the work as requested in good faithBesides the current offer to repair his vehcile at a discount there will be NO monetary compensation made to this customer at this timeThank you for your time Brothers Automotive has nothing more to offer and consider this case closedThis customer may call our service dept for further assistance if he wishes to be honest and act in good faith as we have done in return
I will hit all the points you are lying about in your counter argument because apparently exposing your inside relationship with the *** Auto Parts down the street seemed to have stuck a nerve.I have no problem with the *** Auto Parts.I did not hop between repair shops as stated but received a second opinion when I was quoted a $1,job on an engine that was newly installed. Once again, and I will spell this out, I did not procure my own parts from *** Auto Parts I did not go to *** Auto, order that parts, come back to pick up the parts, and deliver them to Brothers Auto I paid a shop at the same time I had my engine put in ( roughly months ago) to put new catalytic converters on my truck That said shop ordered the catalytic converters from *** Auto and installed them I never once went down to *** to order or pick up the catalytic converter I never got a receipt from *** Auto and never got a item number from them as well This is why *** Auto ordered the replacement catalytic converter, and in coordination with Brothers Automotive, delivered the new catalytic converter without me seeing, handling, going into the store, and all around "procuring my own part."Once again, and I will spell this out, I waited less than months to take my truck back in to Brothers Auto because: A) I was told a smell and sound was for a new catalytic converter.B) After noticing the knocking/ticking noise, I thought it might be a bad lifter so I took it to the shop over miles away that put in the engine (I did not take it to Brothers because I did not think that the newly installed catalytic converter was leaking carbon monoxide out of a seal that was suppose to be installed correctly)C) After diagnosing it by the shop that put in the engine, the owner of the shop personally showed me the stripped bolt The bolt kept turning and turning and would not tighten the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold (a problem that is impossible to overlook by the person who attempts to tighten an ever-turning bolt)D) I contacted Brothers immediately and told them about the problem (contacted them shortly after a month and got in the shop a couple weeks later in which they were aware before months time of my problem)I paid Brothers to inspect my truck and diagnose that the catalytic converter, plugs, and coils needed to be replaced.I paid Brothers Automotive hours to install my catalytic converter Brothers Auto got the repairs done in minutes and charged me hours of labor anywaysBrothers Automotive either stripped or found a stripped bolt that holds the catalytic converter to the engine without falling to the ground. This stripped bolt was taken off and put back on in the installation process of the catalytic converter (again a process I paid them to do)Instead of replacing the bolt and/or calling me to let me know that the bolt needs to be replaced to properly seal the exhaust of the engine, they slapped it back in there with excess washers to hold the nut on the boltThis is not a proper installation of the catalytic converter if it klanks a leaks exhaust air (an item that converts poisonous carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide and it only needed on a vehicle to pass a smog or e-check)Not to mention that the state in which Brothers hastily slapped the catalytic converter on improperly, which they were well aware of, would not pass an smog testThe "FACTS" are spelled out Brothers Automotive, with full knowledge of doing so, improperly installed a catalytic converter with a stripped bolt that they were well aware of, to avoid spending the proper time and materials to complete a job correctly This caused a loud knocking noise of leaking exhaust and carbon monoxide gases to pump out of an improper seal that I paid them to install correctly.Their inability to recognize a mistake and fix the problem, not to mention their owner yelling and belittling customers, shows this shops horrible customer serviceThis has nothing to do with a *** Auto Parts warranty This has nothing to do with "procuring my own part." This is about paying you to install a catalytic converter A job your shop failed to do correctly, knowing full well it was being installed incorrectly, and failing to acknowledge or fix the problem
I paid 2 Brothers over $100 for an inspection of the vehicle prior to installation of the catalytic converter. I specified that I was wanted new spark plugs, coils, and a driver's side catalytic converter installed and was charged over $100 for inspection prior to the service. I supplied a catalytic converter from [redacted]d Auto Parts because I was referred by [redacted] to this shop. I was referred because the wife of the man who owns 2 Brothers works for [redacted] Auto so there was biased suggestion that I go to that 2 Brothers Auto (for anyone who is referred to go there by [redacted]). So I did in fact pay for them to inspect the catalytic converter. I also made note that is was making noise right after the installation of the converter and called them within a month. I was told that a smell and noise is common for a new cat. The reason for waiting longer was to make sure that it wasn't an engine issue. I took it into the shop that recently installed the engine to take a look at the problem. This shop is over 100 miles away and I did not have the luxury to stop school and go there on my own time as soon as I had the problem. 2 Brothers has record of me calling them many times before bringing it back in and also has record of bringing them the truck to inspect it before installing parts. As far taking up bay/space for 4-5 days, [redacted] Auto ordered the incorrect part. The part I had installed was because of a manufactures defect through [redacted] Auto Parts. I brought the truck into the shop when [redacted] Auto got the part in their store. It it not my fault that [redacted] ordered the wrong part into the shop. I paid the previous shop to get the part in to replace the catalytic converter and had no record of what the exact part was. [redacted] Auto on the other hand had all of this information. I brought the truck in when the correct part was suppose to be shipped.2 Brothers obviously has very specific information on the type of bolt strength/hardness for the installation. Customers go to repair shops to get parts fixed and installed correctly. It is not my job as a customer to know every single OEM standard part that should be installed on the vehicle. 2 Brothers obviously has a clear understanding of what parts should have been installed and failed to do it anyways. I paid for inspection first, followed by installation. This should cover them understanding what parts are needed to install the catalytic converter on correctly. If I am paying you for these services, I should not have to specify to use a grade 8 bolt. 2 Brothers should be telling me that a grade 8 bolt is needed to do the job correctly, and call my to make sure of the additional costs.
I am rejecting this response because: First off, I requested a call back from Mr. J[redacted] from Mr. P[redacted]. I have yet to receive a call. Second, we took the van to [redacted] because we trust our mechanic more and wanted a second opinion. We have since taken it to a [redacted] Pro care center over a week and a half ago. They have contacted two brothers. Third, both my mechanic and the [redacted] Procare mechanic agreed that the damage was done by Two Brothers. Fourth, Two Brothers staff did not even have the decency to inform us ahead of time that previously working items such as the dashboard controls were no longer working. Most people do not expect their vehicle to be in worse shape than before they dropped it off. They should have informed us of the dash also. Fifth, this is the only venue in which I have complained on about Two Brothers. I have not contacted any other organization or posted any review on any website about Two Brothers. I told Mr. P[redacted], I was given Two Brothers a chance to work it out. So there is nothing to remove. I have not even posted a review on this website. Six, Mr. P[redacted] did not advise against fixing the van as is written here by Mr. J[redacted]. He, in fact, encouraged us to fix the vehicle as he said that these Pontiacs have "really good engines." If Mr. J[redacted] would call me and speak to me directly I could relay these facts to him but he refuses. So I was left with no other recourse but to go through the Revdex.com.

The customer was advised that a diagnostic would be required to determine what the issue with her vehicle was and the associated cost of a full diagnostic and a discounted diagnostic if work is performed. Once the vehicle arrived 2 Brothers Automotive performed the initial diagnostic as stated,...
verified and documented multiple codes and performed trouble shooting tree as it directed. The initial trouble shooting of several codes present indicated a low voltage failure and directed us to check the electrical/charging system. Upon verifying battery condition the battery test bad and appear to have 1 of the 6 cells failed (DEAD CELL) . At this time the customer was advised by 2 Brothers Service Department we would need to replace the battery to move forward with any further diagnosis. The quote was made for a replacement battery and a discounted time off the diagnostic labor no other labor was charged for battery install only Diagnostic Time and Battery List price. The customer declined the repairs because by her account she could get the battery replaced cheaper. The customer apparently feels having someone pulling generic trouble codes with a cheap scanner is a diagnostic for which it is not. A generic code reader only tells the user a sub system code with out real time data or any direction. Example: Multiple codes related to communication errors with both engine and transmission. The dead cell battery would need replaced and then a re tested of those systems to determine that the computer control modules are receiving proper voltage and if the same codes set or other codes became active. The customer made the decision to stop the process at 2 Brothers Automotive with the idea she was going to get work performed for less money with out considering all consequences to her decision. She took her vehicle to a parts store to both get codes and a cheaper battery. The customer clearly indicates she knew the charge associated with a diagnostic whether she had work completed or not. The fact also appears present that the battery diagnosis was correct in the fact that the parts store confirmed a battery needed replaced and failed. The fact that the vehicle still has issues was a foreseeable result when the customer decided to manager and direct her own repairs to save money. The reality is the customer has saved nothing and her vehicle still needs a completed diagnostic. 2 Brothers Automotive has operated in good faith for this customer and will not provide any monetary compensation for this complaint. The customer is more than welcome to return the vehicle so we can complete the diagnostic with the replacement battery in the vehicle. Once the diagnostic has been completed and if work is performed for the repair the customer will receive the discount applied for the originally paid diagnostic.
First and foremost the customer was advised at the time of repairs that if he supplied his own parts that there would be no warranty. The customer provided a part from [redacted] Auto Parts which was the incorrect part and cost 2 Brothers Automotive both bay space and time. The company actually lost...
money while waiting for him to procure proper parts and his vehicle claimed real estate/bay space for 4-5 days, thereby keeping us from using it to repair other vehicles. The customers complaint of damaged exhaust stud by our shop is and was invalidated on 12/17/2014 due to the fact that he the customer provided his own parts as well as directed our shop as to what he wanted changed. The customer did not request , ask or pay for our shop to provided a check out , inspection or diagnostic service of his exhaust system at a prescribed per hour rate set by industry standards. In other words, he paid nothing for our professional advice and 2 Brothers Automotive provided nothing in relation to parts or professional advice on his directed exhaust repair, therefore we assume the customer is aware of the aftermarket nuts and washers on the truck because as the customer stated he had another shop or two already involved in previous service repairs for the vehicle. So by the customers own admission these nuts bolts and parts had been recently removed by another party during previous service of his motor and warranty catalytic converter. The fact remains old rusted nuts or bolts do in fact fail at times during removal and installation it is inherent to this type of repair. The reality is these parts had been recently removed and replaced and were in essence removed with little effort due to previous removal and new aftermarket nuts installed. The previous work although not factory by any measure appeared to provide ample surface tension / clamping pressure to function as designed which it did for over 60 days of use to our knowledge.Where as the nuts and washers that came on his vehicle and installed by a third party shop were grade 5 standard nuts with a stack of flat washers to extend out where the fastener applied force to the exhaust flange, this application appeared to be applying sufficient amount force to the exhaust flange so we used the previous application from the other shop as a suitable repair, Given the fact that it appeared to be as functional as the "OEM" Original Parts Manufacture "FORD" however Ford used a Grade 8 Flange nut with out washers as OEM application . There is a difference most likely in thread count and thread pitch as well, however at time of service with the parts provided the aftermarket installation appeared to be functional and the customer ran the vehicle for once again over 2 months with out complaint to our company. The customer needs to understand when you provided you own parts and direct a service facility what you want to be changed he assumes the liability for his own decisions regarding the repair. 2 Brothers Automotive LLC installed customer supplied parts at the customers requests, with no studs or nuts being provided by the customer at the time service. Therefore we used what was already supplied with the vehicle. The most likely reason for the current complaint and present exhaust leak is be due to the use of a soft grade nut(Grade 5) under constant vibration, heat and cold conditions changes (expansion and contraction) damaging the exhaust stud. Had our shop provided professional advice for monetary compensation or provided the parts, again for a monetary gain, we would certainly stand behind any and all repairs. Unfortunately that is not the case in this complaint. This customer is asking 2 Brothers Automotive to render warranty service for either another shops mistake or warranty parts for which we did not provide. The other repair the customer has disclosed had nothing to do with his exhaust work and is in fact separate and apart and had nothing to do with his directed exhaust repair. That work performed this customer paid for our professional service and we did in fact diagnose his vehicle. As I understand it the repair was performed well and with out incident however he also paid for a diagnostic by my company and we procured the parts resulting in a complete repair. Our warranty policy is very clear if you provide the parts and direct the repair process you assume the liability. If you pay 2 Brothers to diagnose, procure parts and repair, you're covered by our warranty. I am unaware of any shop that operates in any other way or who warranties another repair shops work or parts they did not provide. At this time 2 Brothers Automotive will not be making a monetary offer to meet this customers request. If he would like to discuss his options with our service department, I am sure they will be happy to work out a discounted rate to replace his studs and nuts to OEM parts, thereby resolving his complaint. I believe the stud and nut kits equates to $14-15 plus labor time and tax but service can verify those amounts.Respectfully yours,[redacted] Owner2 Brothers Automotive LLC2 Brothers Towing & Recovery LLC
Dear Sir,I am going to try to respond to you with some common sense, simplicity and facts. You were advised at time of service we do not warranty customer provided parts or repairs. Let me tell you why " there is not enough profit in that job for me to accept any liability for failed parts and/or associated issues, you took the profit away when you provide the part and you assume the liability yourself when you agreed to provide the part with no warranty." Its simple math really, it takes money to pay the bills to operate a business, So in this case we have a million dollar operation that runs for profit and refuses to work without a defined profit margin. Sorry I am not trying to hurt anyone's feelings but I am in business for profit and I assume you work and get paid for whatever services you provide to your employer correct? You clearly fail to understand what it means to be a retail business. Let me put this in something more palatable for you"do you buy a steak and take it to a restaurant and then ask them to prepare it for you?" Our company policy is very EXPLICIT. We do not warranty jobs with customer provided parts. If we had determined at the time of repairs that you needed a $14.00 exhaust stud kit you would have had to pay for it at that time, correct???? Well it appears you still need that kit so its $14.00. You would still have had to pay for it whether its today or 3 months ago. You were offered a fair remedy to your problem, which is (my) cost of the part and a discounted labor rate for what is about .75 book hour. Its not my job to educate you about what book time hours mean, common place industry practices and business ethics etc. Here is where the rubber meets the road so to speak; You already admitted you came to us with the part already ordered/procured from [redacted] Auto parts because they referred you to 2 Brothers Automotive. So clearly you understood you were directing 2 Brothers to change that specific part at your direction......Do you think a diagnostic is a technician looking for a stripped exhaust stud which isn't really fully visible until the old part is removed..... We are not magicians, no crystal ball and we don't have X_RAY VISION. So upsetting to you as this maybe or not I don't know. Here is what happened from all information I collected we removed the old part and installed the new part which at that time the nut tightened sufficiently enough to make a master technician satisfied it was torqued adequately. Your other request was for us to determine the engine and drivability complaint. Obviously we fixed that issue and for the record (NO) a single (1) diagnostic charge never covers the entire vehicle sir.... its per itemized complaint unless the items are in direct correlation to one another. Example: Customer stated concerns; 3 items: 1. Car runs rough, 2. hearing a grinding noise when braking and 3. brake pedal vibrates This would be both a diagnostic and a brake inspection........ 3 concerns yet 2 fee's. The first item is a stand-alone diagnostic while the second two are both related braking issues.Example: Your complaint was a drivabilty engine issue and "change my catalytic converter I already ordered it from [redacted] Auto parts as a warranty issue". One is a specific diagnostic, and the other is just telling us to change a specific part that YOU provided. You did not provide us with new hardware to mount the catalytic converter, so we used the mounting hardware that the vehicle came in with. That mounting hardware later failed and stripped out. That isn't our responsibility. We didn't build it, we didn't buy it, and we didn't even sell it. We certainly aren't going to warranty it.The reality is at the time of install the nut ran up the threaded stud and held. If it didn't in less than 30 minutes we would have spun the old stud out, called to advise you and ordered a replacement stud kit. Sorry old studs sometimes do fail or strip out unfortunately it does not entitle you to free work or parts. There will be no monetary payment made to you, we offered you a remedy
to your complaint which you have rejected and there for we accept your
rejection of our remedy to your complaint. This will be our final response in the matter and consider this case closed if you do not wish to have the stud replaced as offered.Thank you, [redacted]Owner 2 Brothers Automotive LLC.
According to General Manager Tim P[redacted] this customer was advised to take the vehicle to the closest [redacted] Auto Care Store for inspection and written documentation of the findings. At this time the customer has provided only information from a [redacted] transmission repair shop that was not a [redacted]...
Auto Care center that was requested by 2 Brothers Automotive. Additionally the complainant has taken to public disparaging of my company with unjust statements of opinion not facts. When complainant brought their dated Pontiac montana into our shop 2 Brothers Automotive advised AGAINST any repairs to the vehicle due to age and mileage of the vehicle corresponding to its Actual Cash Value. The complaintant was further advised when older vehicles are disassembled that plastic and old parts can break including subsequent issue with old dry wiring, plugs and fittings. 2 Brothers properly advised the customer of collateral damage due to age and mileage. Further more the customer still opted to attempt repairs to mini van. The job the customer contracted 2 Brothers to perform was performed and completed as agreed using industry standards. The complaint of internal dash issues are subject to age and mileage as well of vast temperature exposer over the many years of its life cycle. The many comments made in this customer are undocumented and opinion based at this time. The coolant leak issue at last contact indicated a failure in a steel coolant tube that 2 Brothers Automotive did not replace. However the vehicle traveled from Columbus Ohio to Texas as I understand reveals the leak may have easily presented itself after leaving our repair facility. Once again other cooling system parts that were not changed are subject to failure. In retrospect 2 Brothers Automotive may consider or agreed to a settlement regarding the coolant tube failure up till the complainant begin the disparaging comments against my company at multiple media sources. The fact is 2 brothers did not replace the failed coolant tube because at time of repair it appeared satisfactory. Had the tube not passed the inspection the customer would have paid additional fees for said part. The failure of this component does not provide for free labor or new parts. Under the circumstances the customer will need to remove/retract all complaints down to this single venue (Revdex.com) for us to move forward. Disparaging my company from multi sources then request a settlement with not be an acceptable practice. We will be happy to work with this customer on fair practices and terms. The warranty of the repairs made by 2 Brothers Automotive are outlined in the attachment provided. If this customer wishes to work in good faith we will be happy to discuss compensation in regards to the appropriately documented concerns by a NAPA AUTO CARE facility with their findings either emailed or faxed as requested to : [redacted] or Fax ###-###-#### Best Wishes, Jack G J[redacted]
