Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
What Century Finishes has done "since 1988" is no concern of mineI am only interested in the quality of the work done to my parts
They had wear and tear for parts that are years oldI paid $per piece to have them re-chromedThe repair work was due to *** Century Finishes breaking them, and then doing a substandard job repairing it in a seven month time frameHe had a template, all he had to do was use the other piece, as they are mirror images to each otherAs you can see in picture (attached), the studs don't line up on the side that was broken by *** Century Finishes
In picture (attached), you can see a stock hood that is not modified, and the broken hood vent no longer fitsIn picture (attached), you can see that the piece was attached at an angle and will not line up with the stock holes in the hoodIn picture (attached) you can see the crooked repair job and the stud not lining up with the hood
Also, in the last reply I sent, there was a picture of the sub-standard re-chroming where *** Century Finishes only partially polished the piecesAfter waiting over half a year for my parts, and then receiving them with low quality repair and chrome work, I am not going to send it back only to wait another half a year for additional substandard workI would like to be compensated for the broken piece and the cost to re-chrome it, and move on

[redacted] Century Finishes, Inc. was incorporated in the State of New York in 1988.Since that time we have serviced thousands of clients with restorative and one of a kind finishing applications. A file of Testimonials is available upon request. Our finishing services far exceed anyone else in the community.
We have our "Terms and Conditions" posted on our multiple websites and pride ourselves on Customer Service.
The fact that the Revdex.com has audacity to post what is a private commercial transaction is an attempt at blackmail. Your motivation is to alienate. You have no knowledge of the parameters of the transaction.
We have attempted to resolve the dissatisfaction of [redacted], but it appears as though he is looking for a pound of flesh.
[redacted] parts were extremely distressed when received by this company. He was advised that we would attempt to address his needs 'AS BEST AS CAN'. [redacted] was advised of the condition of his parts on January [redacted] 2014. At this point [redacted] has paid $225. for a repair that should have cost $850. We honored our quotation and repaired his parts 'AS BEST AS COULD" under the circumstances. [redacted] refuses to supply the 'TEMPLATE" to insure that the repair is done to fit. If he will not submit the template an alternative might be a Blueprint. Keeping in mind that [redacted]'s car was made 50 years ago, and that his hood has been modified or at least repainted and/or filled with some type of Bondo a template is imperative.
If [redacted] would like to return his Hood Vent with the template we will do our best to repair it properly.

[redacted] contacted us to Chrome Plate parts. He was given a price based on the parts displayed in his picture. After the parts were received we were informed that these parts would be used on a motorcycle. [redacted] was advised at that point that his parts would have to be electroplated to be able...

to endure the exposure to the elements a motorcycle would be exposed to. The process required to produce a quality finish able to endure the type of exposure he was going to experience would require electroplating. The difference in price was due to the difference in the procedure required. He expressed a desire to have his parts returned. His parts were returned and he was charged $50. for shipping, handling, and insurance. A $100. refund was immediately sent to him.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: I have not heard from [redacted] and I have pictures to back up my claim. The part that they broke was repaired incorrectly. The piece is now smaller and will not fit on the freshly painted hood. I don't know how he's going to make it bigger. According to [redacted] it takes 8 weeks to refinish the part, why did it take from january till the end of july to refinish in the first place? also the chrome polishing wasn't completed on both hood vents, I have pictures to back that up also. If you go on thier website they say they do show chrome, these parts would not pass that test.  I don't want to send my part back to him because,  judging by past performance, I won't recieve it untill next year and it will not be right. I'd rather be compensated for my loss and move on

On January **, 2014 we received from [redacted]
2 Front Fender Vents 12" X 3"
2 Hood Trim 11" X 18"
Our Invoice Number [redacted]
All four items were made of Die Cast Aluminum. All four items were in "poor" condition. As noted on Invoice Number...

[redacted] the 11 X 18 Trim had a notation of "as best as can."
Our 'Terms and Conditions' state: "Although we attempt to maintain a strict delivery schedule, it must be understood that some jobs take longer than others"
We had completed the 2 Front Fender Vents and return shipped them 04/**/14 at no charge, even though there was a balance due just for those pieces, that was greater than the $150. deposit we had received. Theoretically this was to be a gesture of good faith.
Normal production time for die cast material in this condition is a minimum of 8 weeks. In addition the Hood Trim required repair.
We proceeded to repair the one broken hood trim and Triple Chrome Plate. (Copper-Nickel-Chrome)
When [redacted] informed us that the repair was made incorrectly, he also informed us that he had a template of how the part was to fit. I explained to [redacted] that if he sent us the part in question, and the template, we would be able to make the Hood Trim fit. He chose not to do that.
It would be foolish to modify the Hood to accommodate the trim, when the trim could be adjusted to fit correctly. When I reference our library of photographs it appears as though both Hood Trim are in fact the same size.
A time to complete the repair could not be estimated without seeing exactly what had to be done.
If [redacted] would like to track down another Hood Vent we will Triple Chrome Plate the third piece at no charge. Or, he can return the repaired piece with the template and we will repair that piece.
We have photographs of this project from start to finish and would be happy to submit them.

Review: I sent 2 hood vents from a 1966 Buick Skylark gs to [redacted] Century Finishes to be rechromed. When I spoke to their [redacted], [redacted] in January, he told me parts would be ready by end of February early March. The parts didn't arrive in March, so when I got a hold of ** he informed me that they had broken one of them and it would take 12 weeks to repair. I wouldn't have my parts untill June. When June arrived my parts didn't. It would be by July *. July * came and went and no parts. Finally they were shipped July **. When I received the parts I couldn't believe it. The chrome hadn't been polished on certain areas of the hood vents, there was a hole in each one that should have been filled. But the biggest problem was the hood vent they repaired wasn't done right. It was repaired wrong and now will not fit on my hood that was just painted. In order to make it fit I would have to drill new holes, patch the correct holes and repaint the hood. The hood vent is no longer its original size. It is smaller since it was broken and repaired by 21 st Century Finishes. When I spoke to ** he said he could fix it, but he wouldn't give me a completion date, stating" it could take a day a week a month,.". I told ** it would be better to get a replacement and he agreed, until I told him I expected he pay for it. He hasn't returned my e mail. I sent him parts that needed to be rechromed. He broke one and now it will not fit on a car I am restoring. I paid him for the job and he didn't complete it. In order to finish the hood I'll have to track down a used hood vent and have it rechromed. I think [redacted] Century Finishes is responsible. They charged $225 per hood vent to rechrome. I can't buy a single hood vent, everyone seems to sell them as a set. There's not many of these around. The best price I saw was $500.Desired Settlement: refund the $225 and pay $500 for the replacement part

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

What 21 Century Finishes has done "since 1988" is no concern of mine. I am only interested in the quality of the work done to my parts.

They had normal wear and tear for parts that are 50 years old. I paid $225 per piece to have them re-chromed. The repair work was due to [redacted] Century Finishes breaking them, and then doing a substandard job repairing it in a seven month time frame. He had a template, all he had to do was use the other piece, as they are mirror images to each other. As you can see in picture 4 (attached), the studs don't line up on the side that was broken by [redacted] Century Finishes.

In picture 3 (attached), you can see a stock hood that is not modified, and the broken hood vent no longer fits. In picture 2 (attached), you can see that the piece was attached at an angle and will not line up with the stock holes in the hood. In picture 1 (attached) you can see the crooked repair job and the stud not lining up with the hood.

Also, in the last reply I sent, there was a picture of the sub-standard re-chroming where [redacted] Century Finishes only partially polished the pieces. After waiting over half a year for my parts, and then receiving them with low quality repair and chrome work, I am not going to send it back only to wait another half a year for additional substandard work. I would like to be compensated for the broken piece and the cost to re-chrome it, and move on.
