In purchasing our old home we were required to have vermiculite abatement completed in the attic to secure financingI requested quotes from businesses that specialize in this service and went with Hazpro because they had a vacuum truck that would do most of the work as opposed to the old manual method of shoveling into bagsAfter setting up the date to complete the work, I was notified by hazpro that they had another customer they needed to help and I would have to wait
I had marked off some rooms in the house with tape as the floors were just refinished and hazpro disregarded my tape and left their equipment in the empty rooms and scratched my refinished floor
The work was completed but not on time and when I went to look up in the attic, I could visually see vermiculite still in the attic which was now covered in the sealant glue that hazpro appliedI even found an empty bag of vermiculite stuffed between joists that was not removed by hazproI felt like the job was incomplete but I never discussed this with hazpro and hazpro never asked me for feedback
After the abatement was done, I had hazpro submit some floor samples for asbestos testingI was told by two separate employees that the lab tests would cost $** per sampleThis service was completed in a timely fashion in September
In March we submitted another floor sample for asbestos testingWhen we submitted, we were told that the service would cost $** per layer in the sampleThis was a surprise to me as the last samples we submitted had multiple layers yet the cost was only $**Regrettably, we went ahead with the sample submission and when the sample tests were complete we were invoiced $*** as the sample had layersI then asked why there was a policy/price change, I discovered that hazpro uses different labs in some instancesOne lab does not charge per layerWe were never told that the other lab would be cheaperHazpro stated that we wanted the sample done quickly and that is why they sent the sample to a local business that charges per layerWe never said we wanted a rush order on the sampleI had asked for some goodwill as we had work done that amounted to thousands of dollars but hazpro came back saying that they had warned us about the multi-layer charge which was new to usWhen I contacted the lab they used, I was told that the charge per layer was half the price that hazpro would charge meWhen I told the owner what I had discovered, he said that I was getting a better deal than he was
To make matters worse, I was sent an invoice in error for one of hazpro's other clients and discovered that the other client was charged $** per sample lab test
The owner did eventually contact me by emailI reiterated the same points I had made before in an email and I questioned him about the labs charges to hazproHis response was that he would delete the invoice and take my points under advisement and that was the end of itI am satisfied that the invoice is voided and will not contact them again
My experience with Hazpro was a very positive one. They assessed my home's mold problem quickly and thoroughly, but most importantly their customer service after the job was astounding. Any of our issues or concerns with the mold removal were addressed with expedience and reassurance. The Owner operator "[redacted]" and his site manager were highly professional and down to earth. I will recommend using Hazpro to my friends and colleagues with confidence.
