3 Generation's Painting Reviews (1)

29 July 2016Dear [redacted],This letter is in response to Revdex.com Complaint ID: [redacted]). First I would list to premise the response by saying that I have been in business almost 20 years and have a satisfaction rate of 99.9%. There are always a few customers who are not satisfied due to...

their ignorance of the craft. Not everyone is knowledgeable concerning home maintenance and repair. Secondly I would like to enlighten you of the circumstances of how they became my customers. The wife (customer) had a sister that had contracted my company to paint her 2 year old house. The sister was 100% Satisfied and recommended me to the present customer (complantent).1. The complantent's house is approximately 80 to 100 years old. I painted the woodwork (baseboards, door jams, window frames, etc) as discussed on the estimate. However, the customer having no knowledge of the difference between PAINTING and RESTORATION WORK must have had thoughts that I was going to sand 80 years of drips and divets of old paint. Restoration work was NEVER discussed on the estimate. This was a major dissatisfaction of hers. 2. In addition, on the first day of the job walked into the kitchen to begin the cabinets and two of the cabinets had been painted in graffiti like manner with hearts and letters and words with a semigloss paint in a very thick damaging manner. She said her husband was mad that she had gone away for the week end and got drunk and painted these things on the cabinets. Well, then had to concentrate on sanding this thick paint off of the cabinets. I did the best that I could without using a belt sander and losing another day of work. 3. The cabinets were very, very old and the original screws were difficult to get out and very fragile. When putting the cabinet doors back on, replaced the screws with new ones. This may have been the problem or the additional paint may have been responsible for them not closing properly. I did not get a chance to address the problem because this is the day that I decided it was not a good business decision to continue the job. 4. The scratch marks in the ceiling and walls were due to spackle that was sanded and maintained a different texture than the rest of the walls. 5. The weekend prior to my leaving the job the customers went away. I already had had enough of the customers unknowledgeable attitude and was not sure if I could continue. So I asked for 25% more of the balance due for the work that I would complete on the weekend. I wanted to be sure that I got paid for the work that I had completed. If her attitude was different on Monday I would have stayed to complete the last 25%. But the attitude was even worse. I made a decision for the better to leave the job. I did not have the ability to enlighten this customer about the difference between PAINTING and RESTORATION work on an 80 - 100 year old house.I am stating a fact to say that I completed 75% of the work included in the estimate and the customers paid exactly 75% of the total cost.Sincerely, Brad R.
