Early in the month of June, Mr*** called and stated he had a couple issues with his car I explained to him that we charged $diagnostic and $to hook up the computer(see item #& #3) He agreed, and brought his car in We wrote up a repair order on 6/23/16, he
stated that he had three issues, but was only concerned about the about the idle and loss of power issues at that time Idles low & loss of power when driving(see item #2) During diagnostics we pulled codes for two issues Vacuum leak and MAF Sensor (Mass Air Flow)Upon inspection we found a cracked vacuum line, which we replaced and no charge(see item #4), and we inspected and cleaned the connection for the MAF sensor I explained to him that we cleared the codes and the car was idling a lot better and when we took it on the test drive, it did not loos power But that MAF Sensors are a common issue, and that if the loss of power issue returned he would have to have it replaced I told him that I would order the MAF sensor and have it here for a week or so And he should just give me a call. He called back a couple days later and stated that the car was running a lot better, but he still had the loss of power issue I told him to bring it back and we would replace the MAF sensor. Upon his return, we pulled his car in and replaced the MAF Sensor When my Service Writer told him that his car was done and asked how he wanted to pay, he said that he didn’t have any money He stated that he thought we were diagnosing it again for free She came and got me and I explained to him that we must have had a miscommunication, because the car did not need to be diagnosed again And we had already fixed it He said that he could not afford the repair I said OK, and when to the shop and had my technician remove the MAF sensor. I let him know that the MAF sensor being an electrical part, could not be returned, and when he could afford the repair, please bring it back and we would be happy to complete the repairs. When my technician pulled the car up, Mr*** asked him question about other issues My Service Writer informed him that he would have to bring the car back for proper diagnostics. As a rule, we do not diagnose or give mechanical advise for free There is too much liability in doing that, not to mention that with a shops overhead, we cannot afford to perform any work for free. Mr*** received everything that he paid for (and more) I am not sure what more we can do for him. Please contact me at anytime, as we take Customer Satisfaction VERY seriously, at both of my shops. Best Regards,David LM***
The bottom line is that this customer asked for and paid for a diagnostic. He received a diagnostic, AND we fixed one of his issues (a vacuum leak) at NO CHARGE. When he returned we had a miscommunication and we thought he wanted a repair. When in fact he wanted more things diagnosed. He did not want to pay to get the new thing diagnosed. He will not be getting a refund. He got MORE than he paid for. We are not a parts store and we do not diagnose or do battery tests for free. Our prices are clearly posted on a digital menu board in our lobby.
I understand that I will not get services for free. I do expect to atleast get treated like a customer and that my business is appeciated. If 3:10 Auto Works did not want to provide me with the proper services they should off told me before charging me $100. For the amount I paid and based on the issues I explained before agreeing to get my car diagnose, I atleast expect to get treated with respect, honesty, and valued as a customer. Or even maybe atleast told if my battery is good or bad, which most repair shops or auto parts stores do for free. I figure if I payed $100 dollars for a diagnose I would be getting a professional service and the best customer service than any other place. I did try to avoid this issue by talking to the owner and explaining that I would only like a diagnosis of my car problem and would not be getting any type of repairs done because I do not have money at this time. The owner said "yes of course, we can do that. Thank you for being honest" but after everything was done, it feels like they only wanted to charge me and didnt care about anything. So now that they replied with a lame excused that doesnt even make sense or have to do with what the issue is, I wont except an apoligy or a reason to beliefe what they are saying. Im sure 3:10 Auto Works provides very good services and professional repair jobs but unfortunately they did not with me. I very disappointed with them because they make local business look bad in my area. :(
