Scott [redacted], owner of 317 Builders, did not complete the job I asked him to and paid him for. The contract we agreed to and signed was not fulfilled. I hired him to design and build a deck, pergola, new steps, and install 2 new storm windows at my home, among other smaller construction detail. The job would take 2 weeks he said.
I paid him $4500 of the $5200 total costs and he only completed 50% of the work before stringing me along for 4 weeks with various excuses: theft at another job where he was waiting on insurance money, personal problems with his daughter who needed financial help. Then things got progressively worse with his personal life with his family and mental health. He told me he is broke and incapacitated and can no longer make decisions for his business or personal life. He left the job with only the vague promise to "pay me back" when he "gets settled". He asked me to use a contractor buddy of his to finish the job. He now also says he under-bid my job by $2000 and the job will now be $7000 total. Terrible, terrible experience with an unstable and untrustworthy person who took advantage of me. Please don't make the same mistake I did.
